  • Shipyard Name: Kuat Drive Yards Orbital Array, Kuat Drive Yards
  • Classification: Merchant, Tourism, Naval Station, Drydock, Deepdock, Planetary Shipyards, Orbital Ring Yards
  • Location: Kuat
  • Affiliation: Kuat Drive Yards, Kuati Sector Forces
  • Population: Heavily Populated
  • Demographics: General Mix - Most humans are Kuati
  • Accessibility: The Station encircles Kuat. It is free to everyone, with Off-Limits Areas.
Description: Trying to replicate its predecessor, the new Orbital Array tries to do exactly what it used to do. It housed employees, visitors, and anyone else needing a place to catch some shut eye. The original was owned and operated by Kuat, itself, however after its destruction, the new one does not take orders from Kuat. However, it feels obligated as its civic duty to produce for Kuat as much as it needs. Depending on who you ask, KDY Orbital Array is the primary manufacturer of all items for Kuat, however the planet has become self sufficient on its own; it had to, after the destruction and falling of the original Company. The Orbital Array is able to produce mass navies at moderate speeds, and produce every type of ship seen in the galaxy. Its Commercial Zone also allows other companies to utilize the Orbital Arrays services; tourism, warehouses, and factories. It also allows organizations to hold recruitment offices, should they adhere to Kuat and Kuat Drive Yards Laws.

The Orbital Array also serves as the headquarters for Kuati Sector Forces and is the primary business headquarters of Kuat Drive Yards, of course. So it has all the necessary business offices necessary to run the massive company. However, a new addition to the Orbital Array is its defenses. Secretly, it has a new shielding system, which acts just like the shield system used during the construction of the Death Star; Endors Shield Bunker. (KDY Bunker Alpha and Beta, protected by Asundered Force)

  • Production: All Starships, Stations, Vehicles, and Technology (Weapons, Starship Weapons, Starship Components, Armor, Armor Components, etc etc)
  • Specialty: The Kuat Drive Yards Orbital Array is equipped to produce anything, although it can not produce anything at any time. Machine Shops and Factories have to stop and change their produced items every time it changes. However, the specialty of the Orbital Array, is of course, Starships. It has three Primary Shipyards able to produce anything from Fighters to Dreadnoughts, and has Drydocks connected to the Array and Drydocks orbiting nearby. With readily available machine shops, factories, and warehouses, speed doesn't slow down
  • Output: Moderate Speed
  • Market: Anyone is able to purchase from Kuat Drive Yards, unless they show up Negative on their Affiliations List

  • Maximum
    Clone Security & Soldier Garrison
  • Internal Security: Shield Wall Doors (can be activated to block off hallways/rooms or keep someone stuck in a place), Deployable Blaster Turrets in Ceiling/Walls in Secured/Off-Limits Areas
  • Capital Ship Patrols and Guards
  • External Weaponry Defense
  • Shield Generator Bunkers
  • Sector Traffic Control Towers and Stations
  • KSD-851 - Ferron can control the atmosphere, weapons, defenses, shields, security protocols, Hangar Doors, everything connected to the Orbital Array

Kuat Drive Yards Orbital Array is a massive Ring World Station, composed of multiple Starbases and Shipyards, including other types of stations. It followed the same route, detail, and construction methods of the original. First, Kuat Drive Yards started with their Residential Station, which was primarily made for KDY Employees and workers, but was planned to be open to anyone wanting to rent a room. This would serve as the primary living space for all Kuat Drive Yards members, such as; crewman, captains, admirals, engineers, scientists, designers, security, etc. They aren't very much different from Motel Rooms, but have the quality of a Top Tier Hotel. Not somewhere to live permanently, but a place to rest your head after a long trip.

Next was the Apartment Station (4), which was made for more permanent residence. Any employee could rent one of these apartments, but they were for more permanent residents or visitors, who wanted to stay. It's even used by tourists who want to visit Kuat, sometimes even Ambassadors or Diplomats. Of course, Kuat Drive Yards doesn't meddle in the business and affairs of Kuat Government and important Leaders, but they do enjoy accommodating for Kuat, especially on short notice.

The Supply Station was the third Station brought back into working condition, designed to accept in transport and cargo at efficient speed, automated for less manual labor on employees. It helps to sort and put cargo in transit to the many warehouse stations on the Orbital Array, and takes in cargo from transports entering the system to drop off to Kuat. The Orbital Array assists in Kuats mail and transport system, as well, helping to coordinate with transport ships and Captain to act as a central cargo office for items entering and exiting the system.

Kuat Drive Yards Military Station provides training for Kuati Security, Clone Soldiers, and even provided their Barracks. It also provides hangar bays for fighter access and deployment. They are able to maintain their own fighters while able to assist in the security of Kuat and Kuat Drive Yards. The Military Station handles majority of the security for the entire sector, and works with Kuat to protect them.

The new Kuat Sector Forces Headquarters Stations (3) are only used in the defense of the Orbital Array, separate space stations, drydocks, and shipyards located in the system, and operate beyond the Kuat System. They also hold their own Fighter bays, and provide maintenance for their own fighters, but they provide the training for KDY Clones which operate in combat as the main frontline soldier for KSF. This is the headquarters for the military organization.

Unlike the Shipyards, the Orbital Arrays connected Drydocks (4) provide docking for ships to rest when not active, and provided ready maintenance whenever needed. They were large enough and strong enough to hold any ships in place, as long as they didn't push their engines on. Some smaller ships could push their engines to maximum to damage the Drydock, but they would also damage their own ships; the Drydocks provide a skeleton frame for ships, but they have strong "spines" to keep the Orbital Array connected.

Maw Shipyards provides the Orbital Arrays Small Vessel Construction, like Fighters, Shuttles, Transports, and Frigates. Separating the Shipyards Specialties allowed faster production of what ever they needed to have pushed off the assembly line the fastest. Maw Shipyards also can take in Fighters and Frigates for maintenance if space is available.

Deponn Shipyards provides construction abilities above that of the Maw Shipyards, but they don't exclude Maw Shipyards construction perimeters. One can see Star Destroyers coming out of these shipyards all the time, but it can still fit freighters and large shuttles, whether for maintenance or production. It has been nicknamed the Star Yard for birthing so many Star Destroyers of the Imperial kind.

New to the Orbital Array, is the Troste Yards, which have been designated to build Kuat Drive Yards famous Dreadnoughts, although they don't pump them out as readily as Deponn Shipyards makes Star Destroyers. Troste Yards mostly assist Deponn Shipyards with the construction of large Capital Ships, like the Imperial Star Destroyer. Unlike Deponn, however, it does not produce any small vessels, and does not have any sort of equipment nor capacity to try, it would require extensive modifications. But it isn't impossible. They were constructed with designs relating to the three original Shipyards, and made in Trostes honor for reviving the company.

Kuat Drive Yards Business Offices were an integral part for all the employees of Kuat Drive Yards, and the other operations of the Array. It held offices for Contractors, Designers, Chief Operations Officers, Portmasters, Dockmasters, Head Engineers, Chiefs of all kinds. Even President Troste has the big office, of course, every President of a Corporation should have an Office suited to the owners likes.

When the Main Spaceport was finished, connecting it to the Orbital Array offered a way for a variety of ships to dock with and land inside the Orbital Array, while other areas only had docking ports. This Spaceport Commercial, Private, and Reserved Hangar Bays and Docking ports, while some are Restricted to Military or Emergency Access, such as to land reinforcements or to help people evacuate the Orbital Array, for whatever reason. The Spaceport also works in conjunction with Kuat Traffic Control and flight paths.

The Warehouse Stations (9) offers the shipyards, factories, machine shops, and the supply station quick access to send and receive important resources and materials, and also stores items and cargo awaiting transport or assignment. They are just large, orbital warehouses, holding no other significance except sharing security and armored hulls.

Kuat Drive Yards Machine Shops (5) and Factories (4) allows the production of whatever Kuat Drive Yards needs, especially components and weapons for Starships in production, needing upgrades, or repair.

Commercial Zone Station of Kuat Drive Yards Orbital Array allows Companies, local shops, and Organizations to rent places for restaurants, shop fronts, entertainment facilities, or even recruitment centers. It is basically Kuat Drive Yards public marketplace, but every place must be rented out for use. For individuals just selling from their own person, like a bag full of loot, those can be found in the Spaceport, but is discouraged. Anyone is allowed to open up a shop on the Kuat Orbital Array, as long as they get permission.

The original Kuat Drive Yards Orbital Array was destroyed and lost, very little was left. The company was abandoned during the wake of destruction. What was left, was scavenged and picked apart, until Ferron Troste came into the picture. Using the fair wealth he accumulated before looking to claim or purchase whatever was left of the company, he looked to towing the remaining pieces of the Orbital Array, and rebuilding every section. With the help of the Traffic Control Stations and the Shipyards and Stations that still existed, and with a little persuasion, he was able to bring back the workers and facilities under the company banner, and started to revive Kuat Drive Yards.

This wasn't easy, since Ferron was of a different race than Kuati, and he had different ideals than that of their culture, but he promised to put his entire worth and wealth into the rebirth of the company. He promised them stable jobs, high paying jobs, he said he would fix what had been destroyed and keep everyone paid. While Kuat had largely been forced to become self sufficient away from the way of what Kuat Drive Yards had become for them, the new KDY still does everything it can to support the planet, but they hold no jurisdiction over the planet.

Even if Ferron could rebuild the Orbital Array, it would be far too expensive to maintain as just a ship company, and it wasn't entirely likely many would continue to buy from them. Since the great wars and epidemics that spread through the galaxy, organizations were forced to enact their own production facilities as companies continued to fall or go silent. Ferron had to secure enough contracts, longterm, to continue the business and pay his employees. That's when Commenor Systems Alliance came into the picture. With a long time coming, Ferron saved one priority contract for one important organization. It offered more or less all of the companies secrets and workforce in promise to protect them. Protection was required, especially due to the rising organizations looking to conquest and control. Kuat Drive Yards refused to go through the pain of losing battle after battle from the past and even being placed under martial law, and then destroyed.

The new Kuat Drive Yards new Orbital Array wouldn't act very different from the last, except they hold no claims to the planet nor do they own the sector. They provide security and defense for Kuat and the sector and stay away from enacting authority over the Kuat people, they are just a company with a relating name.

So with this sub, I can't see from the wiki source info on when or how it was destroyed?

Links provided in Points of Interest - remove this as its not needed.

Hello there,

The submission looks pretty solid. I can see you put a lot of work developing and bringing all these components together. I just have a couple small issues with the sub at first glance.

Assuming the clone soldiers are like the Asundered Force, then I'm going to need a formal sub for them. That's why I recommended you make a general unit sub to cover all your KDY facilities the first time around.

For the semi-unique stations you've listed, I'm going to need a hard count for each model.

Every model has a hard count in the factory submission, aside from the Uniques which are just one.
I know, what I'm getting at is that I want to know how many of each model are being dedicated to the orbital array. Also because there are also so many links provided, it can be helpful in providing a count for a reader looking at this submission cold.

Tag me when your unit is approved, then we'll proceed with the review.

Committed Requests
  • All of the Stations mentioned are used, all. But as per your request, I've added numbers
  • Added Alpha Force link
  • Added ICLE Information Center to permitted locations

Before we do anything else I need to clarify something:

Is this a space station or a ship yard? It looks like you have put these two templates together (it's being called a space station but you have included things from the shipyard template).

If this is a space station, as you have it here:

  • Space Station Name: Kuat Drive Yards Orbital Array, Kuat Drive Yards
Then I will need a valid Station Model, either chaos factory submitted or a canon civilian model. This:

  • Station Model: Station total length is 25,000 meters

Is not a station model.

If, as I *think* you intend, you want to sub this as a Shipyard, you can do that, but I need you to change out the things from the Space Station template to match the ship yard template please.

I've included pieces from both templates to make it understandable and precise. The Array only has three Shipyards, and has multiple military stations, civilian stations, and industrial stations.

Originally the Model section stated "Links provided in Points of Interest" until I was told to remove it. I have included every submitted and approved model of the Stations included in the Points of Interest section.

It's actually a group of connected space stations, that includes three Shipyards, multiple Military, Civilian, and Industrial stations.

This is exactly like the Canon Kuat Orbital Array and only has minor differences, and is not distinctly a Station or Shipyard.

I understand what it is.

The only part of this template that reads as 'dedicated space station' is where you use the first two entries for the space station template. The rest- including using all of your subs- fits 100% into the Shipyard template. There is even a classification of Orbital Ring Yards which matches entirely what you are doing here.

All you have to do is change this to "Shipyard Name" and remove "Station Model" and it's fine.

I recognize that you view it has a hybrid and that does not need to change, this is merely a matter of bookkeeping.
