Rationale: Silencia, otherwise known as Lady Lorelei, married a descendant of The Ten to become part of the ruling aristocracy of Kuat. Given her tenure and the break down of the aristocracy after the Gulag Virus, the Sith Master found it easy pickings to secretly and subtly maneuver her way to the top. With her own personal assets she helped to fund the restoration of the KDY following Kuat's recovery from the Gulag Virus. After the death of her husband she became the sole beneficiary of the Darke line, inheriting Salvador Darke's assets within the company and subsequently the title of CEO of the KDY.

Because of its neutral stance within the galaxy, dependent upon one's own views, the KDY can be seen as both benevolent and "evil" for the sole reason of its purpose to provide both offensive and defensive products to the galaxy. So, while arming the bullies of the galaxy with their weapons, they also provide shields for the alleged victims. In the end, the main drive of the KDY is to make money. By making money, Kuat may continue to be the paradise world it was designed to be so many centuries ago and its people may continue their lives of comfort and luxury.
The KDY has been known to contract other technology and weapons companies and corporations for outfitting ships in order to meet the requirements of their clientele. Should projects required materials or items of rarity such as alloys, metals, core-reactors, weapons, ect., they work closely with galactic vendors and manufacturers, ensuring stable economy for not only Kuat, but other planets as well.
In wake of the Gulag Virus, two things happened to the KDY as it came under the control of Lady Lorelei. A new extensive Research & Development quadrant was added, as well as a luxury sector that now produces ships and crafts for the common people not requiring devices of destruction.
The R&D department works extensively night and day to provide the galaxy with the latest technologies - whether that be for speed, stealth, protection, power, mobility, or multi-use platforms. By employing the galaxy's best and brightest from all races and ethnicities, they ensure a broad spectrum of input, ideas, and intell, allowing their technology to meet the needs and criteria of their very demanding clients. This department works closely hand-in-hand with their military clients and has even sent out their latest tech free of charge for field testing during these perilous times of growing Empires.
The luxury end of the KDY is, of course, their smallest of operations but continually growing as demand rises. The newest luxury cruise liners employed on planets such as Spira and Zeltros were crafted by the KDY. Governors, high Government officials, Military officers and even royalty now may seek the KDY out for their very own, one of a kind personalized and completely customized luxury ships. No job is too small or too big.
One thing the KDY does and does very well but is not necessarily known for is it's restoration and repair of crafts. The KDY offers an extensive array of older parts and models to help bring aged ships back to life and relive their glory days. On top of this previous clients may bring back KDY manufactured ships for repair-work at a discounted rate as well as upgrades to weaponry, control systems, and much more. Due to working closely with other ship manufacturers, the KDY is also well-equipped and connected to handle foreign crafts.
A sublet of the KDY is their Educational Facilities and Institutes planetside. Individuals from all across the galaxy come to learn the skillset required to then one day acquire a well-paid job within the many option sets of the KDY.
