Intent: A mass-produced security system to be installed on starships
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer: Kalor-Tech Industries
Model: KT-456
Affiliation: The Open Market
Modularity: The reacting variable can be changed. For example, the security system doesn't have to activate a turret. It could activate a trap door, a force cell, or simply an alarm.
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Anti-ionization duraplast, particle shield projector, ray shield projector, standard compact anti-personnel laser turrets, scanners, various electrical components

Strengths:
  • Can secure your favorite starship, even when you are away!
  • Able to be remotely activated
  • Turrets are shielded against ion weaponry
Weaknesses:
  • Incompatible with Starfighters or Starships under 25 meters
  • Cannot defend against unconventional means of entry (ex. cutting through the hull)
  • Potential hostiles can sneak on board if they are with someone marked as 'allowed' during the scanning phase
  • Ineffective against individuals hidden from scanners

Description:

A rather basic concept. Several scanners are installed at the ship's chosen point of entry (usually the landing ramp reception area). They thoroughly scan whoever and whatever enters the ship, referencing a user-updated database on who is or isn't permitted onboard. If they are not marked as allowed on the ship, a particle shield will be projected to surround them and a ray shield will be erected behind them. One to two (depends on user preference and size of ship) anti-personnel turrets raise out of their concealed panels on the floor and open fire on the trapped individual. The ray shields in the background prevent unnecessary damage to the interior of the ship. Once the scanners determine that the target is dead, the guns retract back inside of the panels and everything is back to the way it was.

The system is able to be remotely activated whether from the ship's cockpit or a datapad belonging to someone marked in the system as an administrator. It should also be noted that the turrets are coated in anti-ionization duraplast, making them extremely resistant to ion weaponry (as well as decently resistant against other types of weaponry as well).

Sadly, due to the system's space-consuming nature, it cannot be installed on ships that have lengths less than 25 meters (with the exception of a basic alarm system). The scanners also only detect those entering from the point where they are set up. If someone blasts through the hull or cuts through the cockpit, the turrets can't do anything to help. When someone authorized enters the ship with an unknown person, both will be admitted as the other is a 'guest'. That means hostiles can gain entry through arriving with someone permitted to be onboard. Lastly, the scanners can not defend against what they can't pick up. If someone stealths past the scanners, the defenses will not be activated.

The turret is sort of the base system triggered by the scanners; it's the default setting.

I'm not subbing a new type of turret or anything, if that's what you asking. Just a standard, run-of-the-mill device.

If the turret is a part of the submission I will need the ranged weapon portions utilized is why I am asking.

Basically, is this just the software & scanners which can trigger a totally separate weapon defense system, or is this also including the actual weapons?
