Force Focusing Crystal: In the pommel of the sword a small repository is shaped to hold a specifically cut crystal. The manner of crystal that can be placed inside the pommel is limited only by the shape. Most if not all crystals of which the intent is to place inside this repository will first have to be shaped and cut meticulously to fit and while modular is not capable of being done on the battlefield. Depending on the crystal it may either assist the focus of the bearer or help channel the wielder's emotions allowing them to enhance their abilities. Unlike a lightsaber however, this crystal can only act as a focal point or storage point of Force Power and does not add any additional physical states to the solid blade. Because of this crystal/focal point - it emanates a distinctly Dark Side Aura around the user making hiding the bearer's presence excessively difficult if possible at all.
Alchemized Blade: The blade, steeped in Dark Side Alchemy, behaves quite strangely despite it being forged of metal. If the user is skilled enough in the ways of alchemy they may be able to make minor adjustments in the shape and length of the blade. Whether to lengthen or shorten the blade, or change the edge of the blade to be wider or change the tip to a different shaped point, the blade is only able to be manipulated by several cm (a few inches) in any way shape or form without being extremely taxing on the user as the blade itself is constructed of known dense materials.
Resilient Materials: The blade has been forged using multiple materials, chiefly among them, Phrik has been folded into the metal giving the blade itself a resistance to lightsabers. Additionally the blade if angled correctly is able to deflect blaster bolts though due to the materials used (Not Cortosis which is the primary material utilized in Sith Swords to achieve the reflection effect) directing these bolts is near impossible.
Strengths:
- Kinetic Prowess: Unlike a Lightsaber, the blade of the weapon carries a distinct weight to it. To parry the heavier blade with a lightsaber would require more physical effort. Additionally, unlike the standard hilts of lightsabers, the weapon has a crossguard and hilt that can be used to dent and even puncture armor and be used as a nasty kinetic weapon given the opportunity.
- Nimble Profile: The blade while still a two handed sword is forged in a manner that allows the blade to hold a narrow profile enhancing its ability to puncture materials in a stab as well as cut through the air with little resistance. Balanced and weighted, the movement of the blade is much faster than that of a war hammer or polearm might be. Because of the materials used in its construction, the weapon is lightweight for its size, even if when compared to a lightsaber, much heavier.
- Bloodied: Unlike a lightsaber, wounds from this weapon do not cauterize, the sharp cutting edge capable of opening lacerations which can cause bleeding and severing of muscles and tendons. Additionally, with the physical weight of the weapon itself, broken bones are fairly common.
- Solid Blade: Because this weapon is of solid make, the blade cannot simply be deactivated meaning that it will continue to take up a significant amount of space and can be difficult to maneuver in confined spaces. Because of this, it is also much easier to pin or misdirect the sword and if stabbed into a target may provide significantly more resistance to being removed than the blade of a lightsaber.
- Degraded Cutting Power: As a blade of metal, while still capable of piercing and cutting through other metallic substances its ability to do so is greatly diminished and it is important to note that this weapon cannot be effectively used to cut through blast doors or reinforced bulkheads.
- Dark Side Aura: Bearers of this blade emanate a decidedly Dark Side aura. Because of this, they are easily drawn to like a beacon in the Force and suppressing such a distinct presence is near impossible. A double edged blade in the metaphorical sense, if the blade comes into contact with a practitioner of the Light, the blade may have a corrupting effect due to the significant Dark Side energies and alchemy about the blade.
Forged deep within the subterranean lava tubes beneath the might of Mount Dervo, the blade took with it the ashen hue of the thick ash of the volcano. At the end of a long trek up to the summit, along the inner wall of the vent is an ancient spiraling staircase leading down into its depths. Along this obsidian path are etchings of a far more primitive time, the steps well worn and to the untrained eye would simply remain shadows of the jagged rock. As it descends down the main vent of the volcano, the path narrows even further, pieces of cracked rock making the stairway perilous, heat can be felt from lower in the pipe. Several hundred feet below, once in the tube, the path stops abruptly and instead takes a turn to the left, into the bulk of the dark mountain and into a widened chamber. A small magma flow cuts through the very center, a large forge lit only by the light of several torches is contained within the chamber, only one small jutting hole carved into the wall for rest should any occupant require.
An amalgamation of a combination of materials, the blade has been named "Krigsgaldr" by its craftsman. Created and hammered into being, the blade itself was forged by Castor's own hands however he required assistance when it came to sorcery. It took a special kind of being to grasp and command those very magics that even the Sith seemed to have limited knowledge of - how fortunate Sieger Ren himself had garnered the assistance of a powerful sorceress to teach within the Academy's walls. The two had made the journey unmolested and even Castor had been impressed with the woman's ability to keep up given the difficulty of the terrain and her fragile appearance... but she had followed, silently without so much as a word. Upon arriving, Castor had set to work with the metals he had brought, the sorceress - by the name of Leah - set to her own devices.
Both an experiment in forging a blade of his own as well as dabbling in sorcery, Castor has forged this weapon in hopes that it will allow him an advantage over opponents who are unused to facing opponents with a more traditional weapon with a weighted blade - as well it has been designed to bolster his abilities via the shaped crystal in the pommel. Though he remains but a novice in the realm of sorcery, his bladework is exceptional and this weapon is meant to highlight those strengths.
