Name: Kranak (A fortress surrounded by water) Balor (The name of the clan that owns it)

Image Source: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Waterfall-Castle-343124428by the artist industrial forest.

Classification: Clan hall and armory. Formerly a castle of the warlord Zsinj.

Location: On Null, built on the Renarrah Falls North of a large area of woods.

Affiliation: Clan Balor of the Mandalorians

Population: At any given time there are likely over 1,000 Mandalorians here, at least 500 of which are members of Clan Balor. The actually maximum capacity for the clan hall is about 4,000, but business is rarely that busy on quiet world.

Defenses:

The primary defense of the base itself is its relatively quiet location. Null is an large world, and this fortress is in relative seclusion. Logistically speaking, it serves its purpose primarily for the production of arms and doing of business, but is still fortified slightly, so I have chosen to use this template.

The fortress itself is composed primarily of hewn stone, and is given a Shield system (A HAS-Military shield) to prevent external attacks. All generators are hyrdroelectric and based inside the base, effectively making it capable of producing its own power and holding out isolated in the event of a siege.

While Zsinj had developed a rather complex and difficult to infiltrate security system in his time, that has fallen apart due to a lack of maintenance. The primary securing force of the base are the Mandalorians who live inside it. However, the Forge, the Vault, and a few other locations have extra security as noted.

Points of Interest:

  • Gal'Epar'Yaim: The main floor of the clan hall is an open area, meant for audiences, banquets, and dinners. It is outfitted in a way not unlike a long house or a tavern, complete with hewn stones floors, heavy wooden tables, and large barrels for alcohol, as well as a large adjacent kitchen. On the largest wall, there is a painted bas-relief of several mandalorians, including Funky, slaying a large, horrific spider-creature.
  • The Vault of the Warlord: About the only thing that's still left from Zsinj's tenure. The vault is heavily secured, and made out of solid quadranium, with a specialized encrypted lock. Funky and the others want to be delicate about it, and have not opened it yet.
  • The Singer's Forge: Funky's own place of business, serving for his smithing operations and designs. This is also the primary location of Null Ironworks and Meadery. From Here, Funky and the other members of Clan Balor produces weapons for the Clans' usage. This area is contained with the "cellar" of the building, near the generators and primary plumbing and electrical systems for the building. Because of the crucial systems here, this area has both live holographic surveillance and a rotating group of approximately ten to fifteen guards at any time, with an internal alarm system.
  • The Song Halls: The third and fourth floors of the building are nearly empty, with large, echo-filled chambers to perform music and practice in. A series of adjustable leatheris drapes and hanging air-walls are sometimes use to better control the way sound carries and limit projection to certain area.s
  • The Place of Rest: The fifth and sixth floors are basically just a place to sleep, shower, and the like for guests.
  • The Clan Hall: The seventh, eight, and ninth floors are exclusively for Clan Balor, to be used for their own personal lodging and training. There is a small hangar on top of the building, it is only allowed to be used with Clan Approval.
  • The Pit: Separate form the actual building the second tower (shown in picture) is a simple dungeon with an adjacent fighting pit. If someone needs to be put in the brig, it's here. If someone has a duel to settle, it goes down in the pit.

Dev thread: Here is where we laid claim to the fortress on Null.

Description:

Nestled atop a waterfall and difficult to access by foot, Kranak Balor is both a castle and a home for the clan, allowing them a place to do business and being their own works. At Funky's insistence, the forge and ironworks there is capable of heavy production, so that he and clan Balor may better arm the clans. At Taira's insistence, the mead-hall and kitchen here is outfitted to feast while still preparing enough rations to outlast large sieges. Originally the base of the despotic warlord Zsinj, Kranak Balor is now the clan's great hall, the luxurious manor turned into a potent, meaningful fortress, restored by native stone cutters and brought not to its former glory, but indeed a greater one.

History:

Originally the manor of Zsinj, a dangerous Imperial Warlord of rather odd temperament, the Fortress now own by Clan Balor had changed hands dozens of times over the centuries. At first is was the summer home of Zsinj's family, but as his blood line fell into disgrace, it became a stop for preservationists and hunters on Null.

When the Gulag plague shut down most intergalactic travel, the property stood virtually abandoned until the early 500's ABY, when it was reclaimed by a noble house on Serenno alongside some of the old forests owned by Dooku. After another secession that caused quite a lot of the real estate to lapse into virtual neutrality, a force sorceror moved in, and squatted on the property, buidling and doing god-knows-what to the place. He died at the hands of a unknown jedi around 642 ABY.

The house was once again left to rot, with small amounts of dark-side magic corrupting the local fauna, mutating the local Reclumi Spiders into horrible monstrosities. One such monstrosity live in the cave for years, until it met its match--namely, Funky Balor and a dozen warriors from the clan, armed to the teeth and ready to raise hell.

Since Funky's slaying of the beast and claiming of the fortress for the clan, it has been remodeled into a thriving castle, trading in raw materials and and forged goods to the other clans, and providing a nice little place to stop and share a song, or a story, or a mug of black ale.

Intent: To have a place to forge metal, house troops, and get really, really, exceptionally drunk.
