Intent: Combat Armor
Development Thread: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/28297-the-republic-shall-fall-one-sith-invasion-of-coruscant/ (completed Cortosis requirement: suffered a devastating defeat at the hands of Darth Veles)
Manufacturer: Ryan Korr
Model: Combat Armor
Affiliation: Personal
Modularity: No
Production: Unique
Material: Armorweave, Synthmesh, Spun-plast, Spun Cortosis Fibers, Durasteel
Description:
In the aftermath of the invasion of Teta, Ryan Korr realized that he required protective equipment for combat against Dark Siders who used all manner of alchemized armor. Thus, he fashioned his own suit of armor, drawing upon the knowledge in the Great Holocron for information on Jensaarai teachings about armor construction.

Ryan's combat armor is made in the lamellar fashion with many overlapping plates of synthmesh, a plastic-like steel, backed by spun-plast - which is capable of turning aside vibro daggers. The armor sports a high, stiff collar for catching blows to the neck. The rest of the material consists of a thick armorweave underlay worn beneath the lamellar plates. A series of these plates hang down in a series of large strips to form a skirt which protects the thighs, groin, and rear. The armorweave, spun-plast, durasteel and the synthmesh are interwoven with spun cortosis fibers.

  • Mobility: due to the lamellar construction and the light, flexible materials used, this armor does not constrict the body and offers near full range of motion.
  • Spun Cortosis: The cortosis woven through the armor will short out lightsabers upon contact.
  • Energy Soaker: The armorweave underlay as well as the cortosis fibers are capable of soaking up shots from energy based weaponry, such as blasters. However, three or more shots in the same spot will punch through.
  • Blunt Force: A significant drawback of the armor's construction is that it is highly susceptible to damage with blunt weapons and slugthrowers as it is not a full body carapace design like stormtrooper armor.
  • Gaps: The lamellar plates sport large gaps, specifically between the shoulder pauldrons and the chest plates as well as at the throat. There are also gaps at the elbows, between where the shoulder pauldrons end and where the bracers begin, and just above the knees. The armorweave worn under the plates is enough to stop a glancing blow, but a well placed shot from a slugthrower or precisely aimed vibrosword thrust could pierce it. And a whack from a blunt object will still break bone. The fingers are unprotected save for the armorweave glove.
  • Hardened Knuckles: The armor on the back of the hands is made from durasteel, with a ridge above the knuckles.
  • Greaves: the armor guarding the shins wraps all the way around the calf and is fashioned from durasteel so as to to stop harder objects. The top of the greaves jut up a bit to give protection to the front of the knees, though the back of the knees remain uncovered for mobility.
  • Flame Retardant: the synthmesh and armorweave construction make the armor resistant to a reasonable amount of fire.

Classification: Light Combat Armor
Weight: 12kg
Quality: 5 energy, 2 physical
Other Feature(s): Force Imprint - much like a lightsaber, this armor carries a Force Imprint that makes its presence instantly recognizable to the user via the feel of the Force. It also helps increase connection to the Force, though - like a lightsaber - not in any awe-inspiring way.

[member="Ryan Korr"] - The Jedi Order doesn't have the Great Holocron anymore, but I've always assumed they've got some partial datacron/holotape copies, so *shrug* Approved.
