Born in the damp, dark confines of a cargo starship, Kono Sakura did not know his parents, though he assumes based on the circumstances that they were either smugglers, or illegal migrants. He was swiftly given to an orphanage on Onami Prime, the world that the starship had been registered on, and that presumably was also the birthplace of his parents, given the boy's heritage. Unfortunately for young Kono, the orphanage would prove to hardly be a grade above the place of his birth. Lacking enough funds or staff, it was a miserable little place crammed into a street corner of one of the planet's densely populated megacities.

Learning to keep his head down from a young age, Kono never stood out among his peers, as was his intention. Being unremarkable to his elders, he learned, would allow him to move more freely throughout his surroundings, sneaking out at the dead of night to explore the neighborhood he would so painfully be prohibited from stepping out into otherwise. The boy's urge to be more than those around him manifested itself early, and would eventually grow to become his detriment as his nightly outings to the city grew in frequency, his confidence and sense of self-importance increasingly pulling the attention of the orphanage caretakers towards him, until on one night he would finally be caught in the act. His punishment was strict, though it surprised Kono even as a young boy to realize that the pain did not affect him as much as he believed it would have. It would be shortly after this incident that he would uncover his Force sensitivity, having unintentionally shielded himself with the Force during a confrontation with another boy.

As was government policy on Onami Prime, Kono Sakura found himself visited by a Jedi, the tall robed warrior kneeling down to inspect the bruised orphan. Seemingly impressed by Kono's resilience, he would find out years later that the report on his status upon discovery had been gleaming with potential. Taken to Coruscant, Kono would not miss the orphanage, not for a very long time at least, though perhaps as he has grown older, the man has more frequently looked back at his childhood with a sense of fondness, without it, who knows where he would be today, after all. His time at the Jedi Temple however was a different beast entirely. Pushed to limits he didn't know he had, it was here that the boy-- now teenager-- was able to flex his true capabilities, no longer concerned about blending in, and now focused almost entirely into his progression as an official Jedi Youngling, though quickly he would discard this title for a new one, that of a Jedi Padawan, taken into the tutorage of a Bothan master by the name of Cisk Rusk, following the completion of his Initiate Trials, which he passed with flying colors.

His time as a Padawan was formative, it was under his master that Kono would learn of the galaxy, and of his unique place within it as a Jedi. Largely relegated to peacekeeping duties, Kono and his master would spend their several years together tackling the never-ending plagues of piracy, insurrection and corruption. As a young adult, he would cement his position as a Jedi Knight worthy of his own standing following his successful capture of an infamous Outer Rim terrorist ring-leader, and in the same operation, the rescue of several dozen hostages. His master, Cisk Rusk would not be so lucky. Sacrificing his own life to allow his student time to infiltrate the terrorist encampment, and in doing so placing his full faith in the-then Padawan to succeed where others had failed. This incident would remain with Kono for years.

Kono Sakura was a renowned Jedi Knight, taking to adulthood like a fish to water, the Knight would truly make a name for himself within the Order. Participating in several dozen wars, insurgencies and crisis', Kono found himself in the midst of several galactic-scale confrontations during the events of the Kwa Princess' invasion of the galaxy. While only months later he would be on the streets of Coruscant, battling in melee combat with multiple Sith foes at a time, and leading swarms of innocent, cowering civilians to safety. Throughout all of this, Kono would never lose sight of his responsibilities, nor his duty to both the Order, and the galaxy. It was a potent talent of his, to remain concentrated on a singular, overriding goal above all else, he would not and could not be distracted by his own personal conflicts, or ambitions, and he never was.

After the Netherworld incident, Kono was quickly elevated to the rank of Jedi Master. Leadership was never his style though, and while he was eventually offered a long-term, but not permanent position on the Council, he would refuse it, instead choosing to fight on the frontlines of the Omega War, a conflict that would see the man's life changed forever. Almost in a cruel sense of humor, the Force would have him suffer his debilitating injuries during the Galactic Alliance's reconquest of Coruscant. One would have thought such a thing more likely to occur during the time they had first lost it. Ambushed by several Sith warriors while in the interior of one of the ecumonpolis' gargantuan skyscrapers, the veteran Jedi Master had been in the middle of a fierce life or death struggle with the group, that had appeared to consist largely of younger men and women, when an explosive device-- to this day he knows not where it had originated-- detonated on the floor the combat was taking place on. Sending a large proportion of the building tumbling downward to the urban warfare being conducted below.

He would miraculously survive this near-death experience, but not without the scars to prove it. Following the Alliance's heroic retaking of Coruscant, Kono would be confined to a bacta tank for the next three months, apparently having been unrecognizable to those who had rescued him. The damage to his body had been so severe that even the all-healing powers of the thick medical substance had been unable to fully repair him, and as such the only remaining option-- aside from being a cripple that is-- was cybernetics. Courtesy of the Jedi Order, approximately 65% of the Jedi Master's organic body was replaced, though some would say upgraded, to new cybernetic counterparts. Mostly visible on his chest and neck, the majority of the changes would be to the man's internal organs, which had been badly impacted by the collapse.

The Jedi Master would return to his duties not long after, and would continue to faithfully serve his Order-- until the Galactic Alliance's great betrayal. Striking from within, it had been at this moment during the Great Galactic War as it had been called that Kono's by this point already wavering-- from his experiences in the War-- confidence in the status quo had broken apart entirely, and he begun to feel an intense sense of disappointment, and disillusionment. If the Jedi could not prevent war, if they could not smite down the Sith.. Then what could they do? It was a line of thinking that was as new to him as anything could be, but it was a line of thought that had spread throughout his reasoning like a wildfire nonetheless. Not a radical by any means, the patience taught to him by his master as a young adult had given him the skills necessary to facilitate his gradual, and amicable departure from the Order, which itself was already beginning to go through increasingly staunch ideological divides. Divides that would later go on to form the New Jedi Order, a contrast to the already separate Silver Jedi Concord.

APPEARANCE - Standing at 6'4" Kono Sakura is as tall as he is powerful, boasting a healthy physique enhanced by his variety of cybernetics across his upper torso and neck. Donning two Shisen N5 Optical Implants, the irises in his eyes ambiently glow a soft yellow, contrasting the natural brown hue of the rest of his pupils. Neatly groomed, the former Jedi regularly ties his long black and graying hair into a bun that rests at the back of his head, a popular style with older men back on his homeworld, a beard pieces together the sophisticated look, while cybernetic lines divide his face into nicely proportioned quarters.

PERSONALITY - Coolheaded, contemplative and without the time for nonsense. Kono is from first impressions everything a Jedi Master should be. Preferring to wait and observe a situation, he has never been one to charge head-first into an engagement, this behavior and way of thinking contrasting significantly with how he was as a younger man. Always allowing others to speak before himself, he does this out of the expectations he sets for himself, one of those being not to be rude, particularly to strangers, a tell-tale sign of his Onami-chi heritage. This does not mean he can be disrespected, interrupted, or walked over, however. And he has been known to quite sternly put his foot down when he determines that the behavior of whomever he is with has crossed the boundaries of good nature.

ATTIRE - Leaving his Jedi robes for a more modern selection, it is rare indeed that someone will find Kono Sakura in his relaxed state of being without one of his well-pressed, and spotless suits on. Favoring whites, blacks and at times reds, the former Jedi Master would perhaps reclutantly admit to his expensive taste in clothing. Enjoying his own secret vice of shopping at only the best and most reputable brands when browsing for a new choice of outfit. When in the field, or otherwise in an environment where a full suit would be somewhat too impractical, Kono still prefers to remain smart and stylish, whether he intends to-- or simply has inherently good taste no one knows. Typically retaining his suit shirt and pants, but pairing them with a more useful, heavyer jacket coat.

SKILLS - Going out of his way as a young man to extend his actionable knowledge to realms beyond just the Jedi arts, today, Kono Sakura is highly specialized in the use of firearms of varying natures, as well as in the use of his personal lightsaber and Force abilities. It would be accurate to describe his wide-range of skills as a testament to his work ethic, as he grew older, and conflicts in the galaxy begun to intensify in both scale and ferocity, he took the time to learn how to fly a starfighter. He is fluent in both Galactic Basic as well as his native Onami-chi tongue. A somewhat impressive Midi-Chlorian count grants him strong Force powers, which he can and will combine with his skills with a lightsaber or long-ranged weapon. He likewise has engaged in extensive surveying and survival training exercises to increase his knowledge of the wilderness, enabling him a greater chance of remaining unscaved in hostile environments also.

Today, Kono Sakura roams the galaxy as a free man. Privately mourning the loss of his close connection to what was once a unified Jedi Order, he has in practice taken up work in a number of different fields. Operating at times as a private investigator, a vigilante, a peacekeeper or even a mercenary. His child-self would adore what he has achieved, secure enough financially and in power to go wherever he desires. Yet Kono himself-- perhaps for the first time in his life-- lacks vision. He cannot concentrate on what he wishes to do with himself, or what his drive will be moving forward. Some would describe it as a mid-life crisis, Kono would reject such a description. Without a permanent home by choice, Kono lives from world to world on a regular basis, travelling between systems with his own vessel before finding the most non-descript place he possibly can, in-order to rest for the night. One can only ask what is next for a man such as this..
