Strengths:

 • The Kometa sports some heavy defenses, especially with its near solid bow that acts like a physical shield for the rest of the frame.

 • Density/Mass of the bow is artificially increased by the use of the density projector, increasing its defensive capabilities

 • High resistance to EMP/Ion attacks.

 • Class 0.8 Hyperdrive w/ HIMS.

 • Possess a field disruptor for bypassing shielding.

 • Fully automated.

 • No accessible terminals or physical access points.

 • Heavily encrypted comms.

 • Quantum radar is superior to classical radars in detecting objects within environments amid heavy interference.
Weaknesses:

 • The large mass of the bow leaves the Kometa frontloaded and relatively difficult to maneuver in comparison to other corvettes of similar size.

 • The artificial increase of mass with the density projectors makes the Kometa even more sluggish with more inertia.

 • Aside from a pair of warhead launchers, the Kometa has no real means to engage enemy capital ships at range.

 • Bow deflector shields must be lowered before deployment of field disruptor.

 • Relies on the direction of a commander or advanced control system (e.g. tactical droid, artificial intelligence) for guidance on advanced maneuvers.

 • Passengers have little to no means of assuming direct control of the vessel.

 • Recipients of comms must have access to keys for decryption.

 • The quantum radar is an active sensor that increases chances of detection when deployed.
Description:

The Kometa (“Comet”) is an automated ramship designed for ramming vessels and stationary targets. It utilizes strong defenses, countermeasures, and its relatively quick speed to close in on targets to ram them for outright destruction or for boarding attempts. It has a secondary role as an escort, protecting flagships and other high-value assets from opposing ramships and kamikaze attacks through interception. Its high defense and array of fast tracking weapons emplacements also make it well suited for anti-starfighter/ballistic defense as well.

The Kometa was personally designed by Arisa Yune as she observed ramming tactics coming into vogue among friend and foe alike. In her most recent naval engagements, Arisa herself had nearly become victim to kamikaze attacks by enemy warships. She had actually crafted the Kometa with more deterrence in mind, to intercept incoming vessels and knock them off course or destroy them. While many ramships were designed for a one-way trip, the Kometa was made for repeated attacks.

Design

The Kometa has a conical fuselage that ends with a large bulbous bow that serves as the ramming head. The head a near solid construction of Quadanium steel topped off with a plating of Ajax composite armor, with some spaces for installing forward facing weapons and other components. On its own, the large mass of the bulbous bow is enough to batter through shields and armor, but density projectors allow the bow to artificially increase its mass for even greater destructive force. A field disruptor mounted in the bow allows the craft to simply slip through most forms of shielding so that it may impart all its kinetic force into its target.

While not nearly as tough as the bow, the fuselage is still a sturdy honeycomb construction of neutronium impregnated ferrocarbon, reinforced by anti-concussion field generators. The interior is compartmentalized and embedded with cap drains, energy sinks, and fire suppression systems to limit the harmful effects of electrical surges and fires. The fuselage also house large modular cargo bays for passengers (usually droids or biots) and/or objects like explosives and mines.

As the Kometa is completely automated, there is no bridge or CIC, rooms, or access halls/tunnels outside of the cargo/passenger area. During operations, reactor and control sections are completely locked down with their own dedicated droid/biot maintainers within.

Powerplant/Propulsion

The whole platform is powered by a standard hypermatter reactor to provide adequate power for a vessel of its size.

For sublight travel, its primary engines are a set of large predator interdiction drives, capable of slowing nearby vessels and objects. This helps it close in on fleeing vessels, and when the Kometa is being used in an escort capacity it can slow down nearby incoming craft. These main drives are complemented by an array of ion vernier thrusters for added maneuverability. It possesses a repulsorlift array for hovering and moving through gravy wells.

The Kometa uses the LLT-6 Zephyr Hyperdrive sourced from Lucerne Labs, a class 0.8 hyperdrive equipped with HIMS, allowing the craft to bypass various grav traps during transit.

Avionics

Like with all vessels now rolling over from KSA, the Kometa features a robust sensor/comm suite that enables it to operate adequately in the presence of heavy interference or dedicated jamming/spoofing. Comms are usually encrypted by its installation of Mithril, but as a backup, it features its own onboard encryption modules that utilize both lattice-honey hybrid cryptography. Lattice-based problems are exponentially more difficult to crack in comparison to standard (canon) encryption, even for quantum/parallel computing systems, while the honey component continuously generates junk data as slicers/programs guess the incorrect keys for decryption, spoofing them with plausible looking results to throw off their attacks.

For guidance the ship it has a powerful droid brain powered by an onboard memristor-based neural network. However, it typically slaves to a flagship or some other manned ship for synchronized maneuvers with a formation. In the event that it’s cut off from its controllers, the ship can act autonomously, albeit at some reduced functionality in the strategic sense.

Armaments

Much of the Kometa’s armaments revolve busting through starship defenses, starting with its bow-mounted shockwave generators that can create intense plasma bursts to shred through starship hulls as the ramship plows into them with a powerful ballistic attack. Its array of advanced point defenses is ideal for warding away attack craft and intercepting projectiles on its way to its target.

Defenses/Countermeasures

In addition to its tough frame, the Kometa features a strong shielding scheme, a molecular shield backed up by a redundant Delphus 2 class system. As has become standard for modern vessels, it also possesses an ECM/ECCM defeating missiles and countering an electronic attack.

Quantum Radar Electro-Optic Distributed Aperture System
These are not mentioned in Star Wars, therefore their existence in the GFFA is not confirmed, please remove them.

Afterwards, please make sure all linked items have their abilities reflected in the Strengths and Weaknesses section and thoroughly described in the description.

People introduce real-world technology into here all the time while it may not necessarily have a direct analog in star wars. I've previously done so myself without any problem previously.

Specifically, on these items listed by you, I have other submissions either approved or pending that incorporate these features.

Encryption does exist within star wars, as well as dedicated encryption modules, and machine generated encryption. It's not detailed specifically what cryptology methods are used, but there's nothing out there that states that these specific methods can't be used. They were created on classical computers, which is standard tech in Star Wars.

A quantum radar is just a radar that employs quantum mechanics to improve performance in the presence of interference. Electro-Optic Distributed Aperture System is just a fancy word for cameras/photoreceptors that work on the visual spectrum, arrayed all over the vessel. Nothing out of the ordinary.

Then say so.

Don't expect a Judge to sift through a link just to figure out what something is, state it clearly in the description (or right next to the link itself ("Radar Thingamajig - Does etc.")) and make sure whatever advantages or disadvantages it grants to the vessel are shown as such in the sub.

Before we proceed, I would ask you to please watch your tone. I don't appreciate you snapping at me. Thank you.

I understand that not everyone is technical minded, which is why I always link to accessible pages like wikipedia where possible. I thought the pages explained the functions of every component quite well without being esoteric. On the encryption bit, I even went into some detail with their mechanics within the sub description section. You previously approved a sub with some the items in question, so it's odd seeing this particular complaint from you now.

Anyway, I added some new strengths and weaknesses for the components. I also added a description next to the DAS component.

I apologize that you perceive that as rude, it can be grueling on both sides of the submission, but to assume such is disrespectful and I ask that you refrain from doing so again with other Factory Judges.

While I may of previously approved a sub with these items listed before, I may not do so again. Consistency starts somewhere so I implore you to sub Chaos variants of these items on Wikipedia in order to avoid this debacle in the future, so that it is not only set in stone but other writers may know that they can use it.
