Name: Kolab Shansaash

Faction:

Rank:

Species: Barabel (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Barabel

Age: 29

Sex: Male

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 225lbs

Eyes: Yellow with red pupils

Skin: Grey scales

Force Sensitive: Nope

Strengths:

 • Battle Hardened: In terms of on the ground warfare ranging from small skirmishes with blaster rifles to providing covering fire with a chaingun , Kolab is about as seasoned as a Shaak pot roast with them. Yum. This experience is from his time serving with various mercenary groups as a rank and file soldier.

 • Nocturnal: Born and raised on the Barabel homeworld of Barab I, Kolab developed the evolutionary traits of his species the same as all others. Forced to retreat to the caverns during the day to survive the hazardous radiation from the sun, all Barabel, especially the hunters and foragers gained keen vision in low light environments. Could he spot a single, shiny credit chip from a mile away in utter darkness? Probably not. But he wouldn’t walk into a tree right in front of his face to say the least.

 • Loyal Soldier: Growing up learning to respect the chain of command, from the family structure, the community structure and later in life the chain of command in the mercenary bands. There are few orders that he would refuse, nor hesitate in carrying them out. Storm that bunker? You got it. Command says jump? He already made an unimpressive vertical leap.
Weaknesses:

 • Nocturnal, Part 2!: The trouble with having grown up slumbering during the day is the trouble with adaptation during the day on other planets. Sure, their suns weren’t going to obliterate his scales and leave him a withered, crispy husk...but rising when the sun roses always leaves him sluggish and with lead in the boots.

 • Hardheaded: Kolab is about as tactically inclined as a rusty speeder bumper. As opposed to re evaluating a failing strategy from a skirmich not going his way or a rather difficult jar of foodstuffs not opening a new strategy will never be taken under consideration. What does change is the amount of brute force applied to the situation. “Where strategy fails, aggression succeeds!”

 • Voted Worst Pilot in the Outer Rim: When it comes to piloting anything from a fighter to even a landspeeder, Kolab is guaranteed to end up crashing it into something. Growing up in a relatively low-tech society doesn’t do wonders for one's ability to fly tons of metal at incredibly high speeds.
Appearance: Covered from head to claw in dark, thick layers of grey scales with reptilian yellow eyes, it is clear that this individual is a born and bred Barabel. All of the distinguishing features of this species are there. The long, scaled tail. The set of razor sharp teeth. Even the claws that come out in the midst of a battle... or when there is a serious itch that needs to be scratched. This cold blooded, bipedal reptile has everything you’d expect to find with one of his species. In terms of fashion Kolab dresses as if battle were just around the next corner, always adorned in a set of loose fitting leather armor at the minimum. However, given the opportunity, he would wear enough armor that you could hear him clanking a mile away.

Biography: Born on Barab I Kolab was raised in the manner that was traditional for his species. Taught the fundamentals of hunting and foraging from the time he could stand, he quickly learned the basics of what was expected of himself and his clutch brothers and sisters. Provide and protect. Loyalty to his elders, and to his family. Always remain vigilant and ready for battle. That is what was expected of a Barabel. Those were virtues he would not soon forget. Yet, a life of simple hunting to feed the community was not a life that Kolab found himself content with.

Life as a youngster on Barab I wasn’t something that could be called eventful to say the least. It was all built around routine revolving around the hazardous radiation during the day and the torrential rains of the nights. A young Barabel eagerly awaited that sweet spot of time between those two, when the red dwarf had finally sunk behind the hills and the clouds had yet to release their payload of water back down upon the planet. It was in this sliver of time that Kolab leapt upon the chance to finally feel free, released from the confines and safety of the caverns.

Raised on the tales of the Jedi’s landing on their homeworld long ago, they inspired a sense of adventure in him. The knowledge that there were countless worlds beyond the clouds of Barab I was enough to set the first embers of this wanderlust ablaze. What furthered it was the arrival of a frigate that touched down upon the harsh landscape of his homeland, as chance would have it just on the outskirts of his clan’s territory. The need for this frigate, which happened to belong to a relatively obscure band of mercenaries, to make emergency repairs to their life support systems was of benefit to Kolab. Having lived enough seasons to be considered an adult of his species now, and having learned to fire a blaster rifle was enough to earn him a place on the crew as an extra gun.

The next few years were spent jumping from conflict to conflict, mercenary group to group to the various small scale conflicts throughout the outer rim. It was here Kolab learned the bread and butter parts of being a soldier, as well as about the various planets in the rim. As chance would have it the latest contract expired after they arrived on Nadiem. As a soldier without a cause of his own to fight for, nor part of an army to call home Kolab went in search of either.

Equipment: Coming soon!
