Description: Massive shield gates were found to be impractical to deploy at mass production levels, nor were they well-suited to be deployed on all planets, so a smaller station for use by the less-important planets has been designed. This station features strong shielding capable of taking heavy amounts of damage from ships up to ships its own size. In addition, the stations are outfitted with a suite of weapons that allow it to deal with threats both from long range and short range, allowing them to fight ships at high orbit from a position in low orbit, and also to fend off enemies making liberal use of fighters. The central spire contains the command-and-control posts of the station, alongside the hangars capable of handling two squadrons of attack craft, with most of the weapons on the octagonal ring, save for tractor beams that are used by the station personnel to stop any suspicious ship from approaching the planet. However, as cost-cutting measures, the station has a hollow structure, with a series of 8 braces holding the peripheral ring to the central spire: if more than half the braces are destroyed, it's possible that the station dislocates into its two pieces.
