Strengths:

 • Good fire rate and high stopping power, even against shielded and armored foes.

 • A directional jammer effective at disrupting personal comms and sensors.

 • Heat style damage over time after the initial hit.
Weaknesses:

 • Unlike most mass driver style weapons, the Firebolt can only fire one ammunition type.

 • Heavy with its large ammo blocks and jammer, making it difficult to wield in CQB.

 • Very high recoil when used in full auto mode.

 • When the directional jammer is in use, primary fire cannot be employed. There is also a 3-second delay between switching modes.

 • Electrical overloads from weapons like EMPs or ion weapons may not destroy the Firebolt because of its countermeasures, but it can still prompt an automatic shutdown that can last 30 seconds before the system reboots.
DESCRIPTION

The Firebolt Repeater is a mass-driver type light support weapon (LSW) designed to enhance the firepower and suppressive abilities of small units at the fireteam and squad level. The development of the Firebolt was part of KSA’s efforts to expand its offerings of small arms, most of their focus previously on rifles and carbines.

While designing the Firebolt, KSA determined that the traditional means of suppression - high volumes of fire in wide groupings for mostly psychological effect - wasn't very effective in the current landscape against opposition fielding advanced armor, shielding, and other high tech gear to negate that style of suppression. Relative inaccuracy also gives such weapons middling performance at range, problematic against experienced units who know they probably won’t be hit and so continue to operate unaffected.

Instead, KSA went with the route of creating a more accurate platform that could lay down steady and precise cover fire at short and medium ranges depending on its fire mode. KSA also came up with an innovative solution to provide additions suppression capabilities, in a form of a directional jammer.

Primary Fire

Taking inspiration from Yaret-Kor and explosively formed penetrators, the Firebolt fires dense bolts of laser-heated depleted baradium propelled to high velocities by pressor beams. Similar to Vespa Autorippers, accuracy over range is maintained by pressor beams continuing to accelerate and guide the bolt outwards to a 100 meters.

The high sectional density of the depleted baradium gives it excellent performance against shields and armor, capabilities further enhanced by being superheated. Additionally, in the event of a successful collision, the molten metal can still continue to melt through flesh and solid materials for sustained damage. Finally, the bolts have good stopping power that can rattle or knockback shielded and/or armored targets even if they fail to penetrate.

Jammer

Power is rerouted to activate an electronic and acoustic jamming array consisting of a directional jammer, sound dampener, and dazzlers. Similar to the No Show personal jammer, within its narrow corridor of effect (5 meters), it can effectively disrupt the comms and sensors of personal armor, small arms, personal electronics, and droids. Against organic targets utilizing no electronics, they can still be disoriented by the sound dampener and dazzler, which can interfere with their sense of hearing and sight respectively. In this way, the Firebolt is also quite effective in the role of non-lethal crowd control.

More powerful vehicle grade sensors and comms will unlikely be affected by the personal jammer, possibly experiencing some light interference at worst.

Stopping Power: High
This description and strength read as Very High stopping power to me.

Does this jammer have the ability to penetrate into buildings/structures/etc, or is it only effective on exposed targets?

I suppose so, I wasn't really sure as this is my first ranged weapon sub under Factory 5.0

I edited the stopping power and recoil stats, countering the very high stopping power in full auto mode with very high recoil. In single fire and burst fire mode, the firebolt won't have quite the same amount of stopping power as there's less volume of fire in favor of greater accuracy against specific targets at range.

This jammer is only effective against exposed targets or those peeking out of cover. When it comes to structures, you could point it at an opening like a window or doorway, but it wouldn't be able to penetrate any walls in most cases.
