SPECIAL FEATURES

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES

  • Strengths

Well armored, able to withstand several direct attacks by standard blasters, vibro-weapons, and their equivalents.

  • Highly resistant to EMPs/ion/electrical attacks.

  • Resistant to slicing and mental attacks.

  • Able to survive in vacuums and hazardous environments.

[*]
Weaknesses

  • Has vulnerable points that be precisely targeted for critical hits. The underside of its mantle/main body, the front of its face and eyes. When its vents are open for its biochemical thrusters, those are also ideal targets as their fuel source is flammable.

  • No medium or long range combat abilities, making kiting a viable tactic.

  • Once its armor is breached, its fleshy innards are highly vulnerable to radiation, incendiaries, and toxins.

  • No flight capabilities in atmosphere.

DESCRIPTION

The KB-01 Inago (“Locust”) is a specialized battle biot designed for EVA operations and boarding actions against starships and spaceborne platforms. It can be considered an evolution to buzz droids used in a similar function, but its design shares more in common with hatchling maintenance droids. The Inago is a radical departure from both models, though, as it’s completely constructed from biological rather than synthetic components through a 3D bioprinting process, technically making it a chimera.

Design

Inago have an form akin to a cephalopod, consisting of a large mantle connected to a conjoined head, with razor-like mandibles in front and whip-like tendrils streaming from its back, tipped off with talons. The exterior of its mantle, head, and tendrils are encased in a chitin endoskeleton infused with neutronium, a dense metal ideal for dispersing kinetic impact and energy. The chitin casing is tough enough to survive collision with small debris and solar radiation in space, or repeated attacks from blasters and vibro weapons. However, the chitin coating is relatively thin on the underside of the mantle where its tendrils meet, and around its primary sensor nodes based its head, creating vulnerable points to exploit with carefully aimed attacks. With internal structures based off insects (no circulatory system), it can survive sustained high-g acceleration and maneuvers as it only has to deal with mechanical stresses like a starship.

In place of a standard droid brain and electrical system for control, it utilizes a photonic neural net fashioned from lambent crystals and photonic biolux circuitry. The neural net’s structure is closely modeled after Toydarian brains, a flight capable race naturally resistant to mental influence. Being wetware, the neural net is resistant to classical forms of slicing meant for mechanical hardware. However, as a precaution, the neural net generates its own encryption akin to counterpart encryption methods used by droids. By default, it employs honey encryption, which continuously produces junk data to confuse attackers each time they incorrectly guess its decryption key.

For locomotion, it relies on its tendrils for movement across surfaces, and talons for gripping. While maneuvering through space, it uses bio-chemical microthrusters arrayed all over its body. The microthrusters aren’t ideal for extended space flight, but they are useful for closing in on targets at close range, or maneuvering around a target like a ship’s hull. They are also too weak for sustained atmospheric flight, but can help provide boosts to enhance an Inago’s movements with its tendrils.

Aramements/Countermeasures

Its principal armaments consist a set of acid launchers set in its mouth, able to be dispensed as short range high stream jets or mists to quickly eat through starship hulls and other physical structures.

Its secondary armament are a pair of electric organs capable of producing high voltage shocks that can be conducted along its endoskeleton and transferred by physical contact. The shocks are powerful enough to electrocute biological targets, or disable electronics with about a similar output to a handheld arc caster or ion rifle. The electric organs double as biological capacitors, able to absorb electricity or ion energy, giving itself high resistance against electrocution.
Finally, it can use its body as a physical weapon, using its taloned tendrils like heavy flails, deliver powerful crushing bites with its mandibles, or just slam into soft targets with its mantle like a battering ram.

This sub looks great! Very unique and well designed. The only discrepancy I see is the use of the Biolux Circuitry. That's a closed market item produced by another player. Please link me a marketplace purchase or viable OOC consent to use this and then I'll stamp this approved. Thanks!
