Kashyyyk Tournament Round 1 (Loreena vs Sky'ito)

The wind whistling through the trees carried the scent of the forests through the arena, leaves swirling across the floor as the referee paced between the two competitors, glancing down at his clipboard. “Well, now you’re both here we can start. The nurses are here for and bumps and bruises, but I expect you to fight with honour. It’s training only so you shouldn’t end up hurt but we don’t want to take any chances. It’s combat till one of you gives up, or till the time runs out then I’ll pick a winner. If you’re both ready,” she smiled, dropping his hand down in the air, “begin!”

This was Lori's first visit to SJO space. And after the banishment of her Dad from CSA space, the attacks around her Mom and the overall chaos around her, she took all of her frustrations, anger and confusion out on fighting. First she had signed up for the Mando tournament. And now she was getting herself involved in this one. However this time she was allowed to use the Force if she needed to. That was something that she needed practice in.

Wearing only herlight armour, Lori stepped into the middle of the arena. She bowed from the waist to the referee after hearing the rules and then looked to her opponent, bowing to her as well before she widened her stance and relaxed her muscles. She had no lightsaber or weapon of any kind. Those were merely distractions.

"I'm ready."

Sukai gave a small smile to the medical staff on hand, "well that is nice to know, but I will have no need for treatment, but again thank you for the though". It most likely came out as a boast of cockiness but it was more to due to her vampiric healing abilities and the stamina that came with it, though at the same time her opponent was a Mando, no someone to mess with. More so that her name was [member="Loreena Arenais"], related to Lady Kay, a person Sukai had met on a few occasion. "It is quite the honor to face you in combat Arenais-san, I hope our battle goes well", Sukai replied, giving a customary bow to the young warrior before taking a stance.

For clothing Sukai just wore her Hakama that was often accompanied with her Nanban Dou armor, but for this instance it was not needed. As a weapon Sukai had decided to go with a traditional Riben Jin Bokken, herself holding it in a typical Samurai fashion, waiting for the match to start, "ready when you are, or should I make the first move"? It was interesting that Arenais used no weapon, a martial artist them? if so interesting, but nothing Sukai had not face in the past, her brother being quite the skilled close quarters combatant, but how would this woman fight was the question.

Arenais-son? Well that was an odd thing to call her. But much better than Princess, kid or any other weird nickname that people would give the 14 year old. Of course only her twin brother [member="Caedyn Arenais"] could get away with calling her names. And sometimes [member="Kaine Australis"] too. After her pranks on him, the man won the right for keeping his temper in check.

[member="Sky'ito Yumi"] bore a weapon of the like that Lori hadn't seen before. It looked like a cross between a wooden staff and a sword. That could leave some bruises and maybe even a broken bone or two. It was something that she needed to be mindful of.

Lori shifted her weight evenly on her feet, keeping her knees bent so that she could spring into action at any time. The woman was taller than her and more experienced. So of course Lori just grinned while she balled her hands into fists. "You can go first."

Sukai felt a little odd to be fighting someone who seemed unarmed and smaller, but looks where often very deceasing, she would not hold back during this spar unless her opponent could clearing not keep up. If she was able to pass on some teaching methods it would be well to hold back a little and not break any bones.

"Right... here I come", tensing up her feet Sukai launched forward with a short quick jab aimed at the woman's center, trying to by pass the fit stance she had, one that worked well when blocking swings. The wooden sword's blunt point aimed towards the chest of [member="Loreena Arenais"]m Sukai not yet using any force powers to increase her performance, not yet anyways.

This attack was mainly to gauge her reaction and response, it may have been too weak or just right but this single action would not end the round that much was certain to the Silver Jedi.

Lori was ready. She was focused just like she was taught to be. Keeping her eyes on [member="Sky'ito Yumi"] , it was an easy guess to assume that her first action would be to use wooden sword. It was a weak strike too, one for testing. That was a good thing.

Instead of dodging it or blocking it, Lori instead caught it in her hand. She was sure that just that action would give her a split second of a window of opportunity to capitalize on. So she delivered a swift kick with her right foot to land squarely on Sky'ito's left knee, while maintaining her grip on the wooden sword with her left hand.

As her wooden blade may way into [member="Loreena Arenais"] center Sukai was expecting some sort of parry or grapple, that was how her mother fought and from the experiences she herself had with mandos such was similar. When the blade can to halt Sukai moved her body to the side a small amount, knee legs perpendicular to her opponent, herself letting go of the sworn with her left hand, attempting to deliver a swift chop to the chest as the leg came down upon the Jin's leg.

The hit stung a little, causing Sukai to slip, but no lasting damage had been done, the question would be if Loreena decided to let go of the sword and intercept the attack or take the chest strike.
