Kar’tal; that’s not my birth name, I’ve forgotten that along with my Ghôsh but not what they taught me, never what they taught me. I had seven years of family, friends, and peace before it was all taken from me.
Part 1: Taken
Briila Vasur; I will never forget that name, she took everything from me and I gladly returned the favor. It all started when Death Watch came to the lands my Ghôsh raised grassers in. They came at night, my akk dog Groot woke me. I don’t remember much about that night but remember the speed of their strike. Out of fear I grabbed Groot and ran for the forest. I never made it to the treeline the leader of the raiding party, a woman named Briila Vasur, she tossed me and Groot in a cage before I could scream for help. I cried myself to sleep that night and many nights after that, I saw no one for days after they tossed me and groot into a cell just some food tossed in twice a day, dividing two meals every twenty-five hours between myself and akk dog pup was the worst part of the trip to our new home. About two weeks of confinement, solitude and malnourishment we were pulled from that cell and thrown into another, they must drugged our last meal because when separated us neither of us could fight back.
“Wake up arpat.”
“Arpat? My name is ….”
“I don’t care what it was, Its Arpat now, at least until you get a name more fit for a Kyr'tsad verd.”
“A what?!”
“A Death Watch warrior, you little brat.”
