STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
+Well Trained: Karl has spent his adult life, and some years before, in the service of the First Order Navy, and he's done well at it. Most of his superiors have commended him at some point or another for his skill.
+Nobility: Despite not having spent much of his life with his father, the fact remains that Karl is a Count. While not planet-scale wealthy, he has a lot of money to his name, as well as a title that holds weight in certain circles.
-Do what I mean, not what I say: While few could claim that Karl disobeys orders, the way he carries them out is often unconventional. This has brought him into conflict with other officers at various points.
-Bad leg: Earned during a poorly planned attack on a pirate base, Karl's left leg was severely injured and had to be replaced with a prosthetic. While able to walk perfectly fine, running is a challenge, and he has an ever-so-slightly noticeable limp.
APPEARANCE:
Karl is a typical Effeketi aristocrat: tall, dark haired, and with sharp features. On duty, you will never find him out of a uniform that somehow always seems well kept, and even when out of uniform, the young man exhibits an air of confidence and poise commonly associated with nobility the galaxy over.
BIOGRAPHY:
Karl was born on Effekt, in the northern city of Dahlsen, the first and only child of the Count and Countess of Dahlsen, whose ancestors had held the title for five centuries before them. Despite his parents having a vast fortune, his early life was far from pleasant, as his father was a drinker and his mother was too scared of invoking the Count's wrath to defend her son. The Count had little apparent interest in the future of the family or his son's future, and so spent as little time with his child as possible.
Karl was sent to Dosuun at a young age, to live with a distant uncle. This turned out to be a blessing, as he was made to attend a First Order military school. Only after his graduation would he learn that it had been his mother who had made the arrangements, shortly before his father killed her in a drunken fit of rage. Unwilling to return home to a father he hated, Karl instead stayed with his uncle.
His education was comprehensive to say the least. After attending primary school, he applied for and gained a place in the Dosuun Naval Academy. The young man soon found his calling, discovering that he not only excelled at his studies, but he also enjoyed them. His instructors commended him in reports, pointing out his command capabilities and technical aptitude for ship to ship engagements.
Upon graduation, he was given the rank of Ensign and assigned to a Star Destroyer as a gunnery supervisor. He held this position for three years, attaining a respect for the crewmen who made up the majority among the ships of the First Order, and eventually attaining a promotion to Lieutenant. At first, Karl believed this to be a demotion, as he was removed from the mighty Star Destroyer and instead made XO aboard a patrol corvette. It was during this time period that his father died, reportedly of a combination of prescription pills and vast quantities of alcohol.
It has only been recently that Karl has been promoted to the rank of commander, and assigned a ship of his own...
