Affiliation: Open Market
Manufacturer: Tenloss Corporation
Model: Kagwa-class
Modularity: Limited
Production: Minor
Material: Alusteel, Durasteel, Transparisteel, and other starfighter construction materials
Classification: Starfighter
Length: 10.5m
Height: 4.5m
Width: 12m (wingtip to wingtip)

Armament:

Squadron Count: 4

Special Features:
  • Heavily armed
  • Heavily armored
  • Advanced engine/maneuvering thrusters
  • Mechanically reliable
  • User friendly
  • Adaptable

Maneuverability Rating: 3
Speed Rating: 3
Hyperdrive Class: 1.0

Strengths:
  • Undaunted - The Kagwa is heavily armed and armored, allowing it to deal and take more punishment in the field than most of its equivalent counterparts.
  • Relentless - The starfighter features advanced engines and maneuvering thrusters, allowing the ship to keep pace with other ships in similar roles.
  • Simple - The ship is easy to repair and maintain as well as being easy to use and operate from the pilot's perspective. The options of fast firing guns, heavier cannons, and Flex Tubes allows the pilot to operate in a variety of roles to achieve mission success.
  • Reliable - The ship isn't hugely EMP/Ion shielded, but does feature redundant systems and programs. In the event that a full or partial system shutdown occurs, pilots are often capable of restarting electronics, computers, and systems after a few manual attempts.
Weaknesses:
  • Bulky - Though armed and armored, the ship is bulky making it fairly easy to target at certain ranges for smaller ships like interceptors. Pilots are trained to minimize and compensate for this weakness, but interceptors will often cause problems for Kagwa pilots regardless.
  • Brick - In space, the ship is just as maneuverable and agile as other starfighters of its class. In atmosphere, the Kagwa is about as agile as the brick it appears to resemble. Pilots in atmosphere will see a reduction in speed and maneuverability as the atmosphere pulls and drags on the fuselage (-1 to speed and maneuverability in atmospheric conditions)
  • Bare Basics - While the ship can perform various duties and the Flex Tube allows various ammunition types to tailor the ship to its current mission, the ship is very unforgiving towards additional modules. Only Factory submitted modules are allowed on board the Kagwa, upgraded Kagwas must be submitted to the Factory, and modified Kagwa fighters may only be Unique or Semi Unique.

Description:

As time went on, Tenloss fell into what many called a form contented stagnation as Popo sought to maintain the company for a time rather than push it onwards and forwards. Products sold and the company still prospered, but in the time Tenloss was quieted, more companies stepped forward and built, researched, and placed their own products on the market. Now, with the market teeming with competition, the sleeping giant has stirred once more.

Pulling itself from its sleepy quiet of stasis and grinding to life once more, Tenloss has begun production on new products once again. The first of these is the Kagwa-class Superiority Fighter, designed to go toe to toe with the more advanced starfighters currently in existence.

The fighter is heavily armed and armored, featuring better armor and weapons than most of its rivals throughout the galaxy. The weapons are versatile and allow the Kagwa to adapt to a variety of situations very quickly. Pilots can opt to engage enemy fighters with the twin gatling blaster cannons or target heavier ships and emplaced targets with the more powerful pair of heavy blaster cannons. Should the need arise, the fighter is equipped with a pair of Flex Tube launchers, allowing the use of a wide variety of munitions from proton torpedoes to bombs to concussion missiles.

The ship's armor is also thick and tough, allowing the Kagwa to take higher levels of punishment than most equivalent ships in its class. While bulky and heavy, the Kagwa compensates for the extra mass with advanced engines and maneuvering thrusters. This allows the fighter to keep pace with other ships in its class as well as running down targets slower than itself on the battlefield.

The ship itself is highly reliable and redundant, often capable of basic fixes while in the field. It might not feature the super advanced and high tech weapon systems and countermeasures of various, more electronically 'superior' fighters and small craft in the galaxy, but it more than makes up for that failing with staying power and longevity in combat.

The only downfalls of the ship are interceptors that can easily outmaneuver the bulky ship, atmospheric flight that can slow down the Kagwa and render it at a severe disadvantage, and the lack of modularity outside of munition selection.

Development Thread: N/A
Intent: Honestly, I realized there are a lot of high tech and fancy starfighters laying around and many people consider them to be absolutely superior to anything without the bling they feature. I wanted to make a really basic, guts 'n' glory starfighter that focused on firepower and staying power while maintaining versatility in the field. The end result was the Kagwa.
Who Can Use This: Anyone

The number of weapons on this thing is a little high and I was going to ask for a 10 post development thread, but then I saw the low squadron count.

So long as people remember that 12 of these things are 3 squadrons worth when they try to cram them into a capital ship, I'm fine with this.

Approved, pending secondary.
