Kael Dane

  • Kael Dane was born and raised on Coruscant, somewhere between the shadows of the upper skylanes and the bright buzz of daily life. His family wasn't rich, but they were tight-knit. His father worked maintenance on interplanetary freighters, his mother, Maera Dane, was a nurse at a local clinic. Life was busy, loud, and sometimes rough, but it was theirs.

At sixteen, Kael’s world fell apart. A routine family trip off-world ended in disaster when the passenger ship carrying his father and siblings collided with a commercial freighter during reentry into Coruscant’s atmosphere. It was a freak accident. No foul play, no warzone. Just poor timing, overworked controllers, and bad luck. Only Kael and his mother had stayed behind that day.

She kept working, and he kept moving forward, carrying the weight of the ones he lost but refusing to let it drag him down. When he turned eighteen, he signed up with the Galactic Alliance Defence Force. Some thought he was trying to escape, others said he was chasing purpose. In truth, he just wanted to matter. He didn’t want anyone else to lose family the way he had.

Kael didn’t dream of medals or command. He wanted to be in the dirt with the rest of them, shoulder to shoulder. He joined the Army because it felt real. Because when it came to defending people, someone had to be on the ground.

    Personality

Kael’s the kind of guy who talks to everyone like they’ve been friends for years. He cracks jokes at the worst possible times and manages to make people laugh even when they’re sleep-deprived and soaked through their boots. He’s friendly, always has something to say, and usually says it too loud.

He’s not the quiet, brooding type. If something’s bothering him, you’ll probably know. But that openness makes him easy to trust. People gravitate toward him, even when they roll their eyes at his jokes.

Kael has a habit of taking charge without meaning to. He’s not the ranking officer, but when stuff needs doing, he’ll tell you what to grab and where to stand. He doesn’t mean to boss people around, it just sort of happens. And the worst part? He’s usually right.

That said, he’s got the attention span of a malfunctioning training droid. Lectures lose him fast. He’s the guy staring at a bird during a tactics briefing or playing with a stim wrapper during weapons checks. It doesn’t make him sloppy, but it drives some of the older soldiers up the wall.

Kael has several hobbies, such as sketching (usually people around him), casual sparring, and, sabacc (terrible luck, plays anyway)

  • +Team Player — Kael thrives in group dynamics, always boosting morale and keeping spirits high, even in the worst conditions.
+Quick Reflexes — His reactions in combat are sharp and instinctive, especially in close-quarters or unpredictable situations.
+Initiative — Even as a Private, Kael often steps up and takes charge when things start to fall apart. He doesn’t wait for orders if someone’s in danger.

~Bossy — Kael has a habit of directing others, even when he’s not in charge. Most of the time it’s harmless, but it can rub people the wrong way.
~Easily Distracted — His focus drifts fast when things get quiet. Long briefings, detailed instructions, or repetitive drills tend to lose him.
~Overconfident — He means well, but Kael sometimes overestimates what he and others can handle, leading to risky decisions.

-No Filter — Kael talks first, thinks later. It’s landed him in trouble with superiors more than once.
-Emotional Anchor — He hides it well, but the loss of his family still weighs heavy. In high-stress situations involving civilians or families, it can cloud his judgment.
-Not by the Book — He’s bad at protocol. Uniform regulations, proper comms etiquette, chain of command—he respects the system, but doesn’t always follow it.
