Ossus

Masters Workshop

The soft misty glow of the early morning light cast across the Ossus Temple grounds. A gentle rustle of breeze in the jungle stirred the canopy of the old growth forest, it was cool, at least for now but as soon as the sun would rise over the sky, humidity would set in wetting all life and stone. Ossus is a place so very special to the Jedi, most would know this and if not they had only to go to the Library to seek it's history.

Down in a clearing, to the side of the Temple, the festive tents are set ready for those that wish to use them for their lessons, other might like to be out doors to teach their students or those with companies might like to use to peddle her wares.

The biggest tent, a large white one, billows with with breeze and inside it there is a crew from the kitchen preparing food for all hungry tummy's and the head chef is non other then Coci Heavenshield. Yes the girl can cook, no teaching for her today, however she might take the time to poke about in a lesson or two.

Very soon the masters would arrive, and hopefully the student .. if they are able to get out of bed. Today everyone is here to relax and learn, chat and eat, in an environment of tranquility.

The time for the great workshop was here a chance for all of the masters to come and ply their skills. To offer teachings to the others and make a great display of what they were planning and able to do. Junko herself had seen some of the others around and it made things seem very interesting as she apped and prepared for her own. She was certain at least one of the padawans might want to learn more about the white current and her padawans might show up for all she knew... So there was a chance of that as well... or some knights and masters who may have expressed interest with it.

Junko herself was standing in the new kimono robe she had gotten made for herself and a few others, to give them a chance to see if they would be able to see and use the white current itself. Early on they needed to be able to meditate and see the layers of it to look for the scripts she was making in the small area around her... Well less script and runes then she was writing with it 'JUnko was here' IN the immersed letters that if they had the ability to they would be able to see for themselves. Her regal robes, her hair piece there as the saber was on her hip with the metallic shine against the black and the bleached carapace.

Quality control was very important to the Jedi.

As such, the young Beorni had inspected the kitchen tent where [member="Coci Heavenshield"] was demonstrating the power of Force Skillet in order to ensure that the food met the minimum standards acceptable to the Silver Jedi.

Then he wasn't certain he'd had an adequate sample for a determination, so he'd had seconds.

Wandering from out of the kitchen tent, the small cub paused to wipe his brow. It was HOT! It had to be at least a whole 12 degrees centigrade on this planet. And not negative 12 degrees either. For a Beorni, this was summer weather. And it was only going to get worse when the sun rose over the horizon.

Kiriko would probably go take a nap somewhere with air conditioning when that happened. Even with his fur trimmed short, his physiology trapped body heat in an adaptation that was highly efficient.

As he made his way from out of the kitchen tent, the boy saw one of the tall human aliens. This one had long brown fur on the crown of her head, extending down her back. And she wore some kind of giant cloth that was wrapped all around her.

He supposed they did that because they didn't have fur on their bodies. But this planet was so warm, was it really necessary?

"Hi!" the boy greeted the lady in a bright, friendly tone. Looking around for a moment, the cub asked curiously, "What are you teaching, Master?"

[member="Junko Ike"]

As the boy heard that there was a cooking tent...Well, there was probably not going to be much food after he went over the tent.

The small human, was protected from the sun, by his robes and his swaggy sunglasses. As he approached the tent, it was wonderfull, just...There was no food still, but there was [member="Coci Heavenshield"] , to whom the boy offered a bow, and a "What's on the menu today Master Heavenshield?".

He was hungry, for food and for knowledge. But mostly for food, knowledge was going to be a secondary for him, as he normally spent most of his time alone in the Temple reading troughout the Library and Jedi Archives. It was pretty great to leave the temple, even if some people still looked at him differently, for his previous actions.

Undin also, had brought his saber, which would be used only during the workshops, or if he had no knife and fork to cut his food. I mean, banta steak with a side of delicious, hot plasma can't be that bad right?

At the corner of his eyes, he saw a small fur ball, talking with an albino woman. It might have been him going crazy, or the Force doing crazy stuff, who knew? Not him that's who!

The masked Knight was, for once, without his cloak about his form. Twin, curved hilt lightsabers hung at his hips, along with his twin long-knives, sheathed across the small of his back, a third sheathed across his back, the hilt low, angled towards the ground.

Other than the sabers, and his mask, all he wore was black as night. Dressed as such, he visually appeared fitting more with the Shadows than the Guardians.

Ducking under a tent flap, he stopped in at the dining tent to pay respects to Master [member="Coci Heavenshield"]. He'd do into a formal bow. "Greetings, Master Heavenshield. Quite an early start to the festivities, eh?" He queried, before those keen, glinting golden eyes feel upon the unfamiliar padawan also in the tent. "And a warm greeting to you Padawan. Knight Ryn'Dhal. And you are?" He asked of the youthful [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"].

After a quick exchange of introductions, he observed [member="Junko Ike"], a fellow Knight, and a small.... bear? Looking back to the padawan, the masked Knight nodded towards the two outside the tent. "Perhaps Knight Ike will have some valued wisdom to impart upon us.... shall we join her?" His musical voice drifted gentle out from beneath the mask.

Visually, the man did not match his spirit, his tone, or his presence in the Force. Everything about him radiated peace. Comfort. Gentleness.

A soft chuckle would escape the masked man, as he began striding across the tent towards The fellow Knight and the.... uh... Bear....

Junko was looking at the ones who arrived and there was a small bear who had come to see her. Wondering what she was teaching while she stood there looking like three billion credits or more.. the vine silk could be worth quite a lot when you compared it to some other things. A small look on her face as she spoke. "I am here teaching those who are able to learn it and seek it the white current. As a way to aid in their understanding of the force and the mental aspects that can go into it." Junko looked down at the small bear though and it did make her want to get a pet, something fluffy and warm that she would be able to have around her palace. Seeing Ryn, Kiriko and there was another padawan here as she had a small look at them.

Aria was in high spirits that day. The weather was nice, she'd had a good night's sleep, and had woken at just the right time to be full of energy. She was in the right mindset for a day full of lessons and had come to the Ossus temple with a smile and her best set of Jedi robes.

Bounding into a room, she was immediately greeted by the sight of a fluffy white bear, the Master of the Order, and two Knights - one masked, one vaguely familiar and saying something about the White Current. That in particular caught Aria's attention - she'd always wanted to learn to use the skill. Good thing today was all about learning.

"You're teaching White Current?" Aria asked keenly as she joined the group of Jedi. "Uh - I'd love to learn."

Connor Harrison

Guest
If there was one thing Connor was good at, it was fighting. Verbally, emotionally and physically. He had his fair share of war wounds to prove it, the latest a little TOO close for comfort. With time on his hands, he had the call from old friend [member="Coci Heavenshield"] to help break in new and old Jedi in the ways of the Silver Jedi following their...re-boot of sorts.

A few sit-ups, a glass of blue milk and some fruit, and Connor was ready to meander down to the Ossus workshop to see what he could do.

No cape, no tunic, no saber - just himself in a black training vest, cargos and boots buckled across the calf. He took a slow walk around the grounds from his small guest room, a dozen and one things to think about as he did. It was precious time to be alone with your thoughts in a place as big and busy as the Ossus temple. But it sure was easy on the eye and he could leave what he wanted back on Voss.

He would make his way to setup of tents, noting the one he had been allocated by the colour blue. Smoothing his rugged fringe back, he sauntered around the tent, helping himself to a few snacky treats on show. Whoever did them had too much time on their hands for presentation, but they could sure cook.

Later in the day he would start a workshop for those interested. If not, he had a good book to read and his thoughts to keep him occupied for the next few days.

"The White Current?"

The cub's head rolled to one side as he looked at the Jedi Princess with the confusion plain on his face. What was the White Current?

The Force and mental aspects?

A lady with long fur approached then, and said she wanted to learn it. Well, it sounded strange, but strange could be a good thing. ...right?

"I'd like to learn as well, please," the cub remarked in kind.

"The White Current...." The masked Knight mused. "That is a technique I've heard of at length, but as of yet have had no opportunity to receive any tutelage in. I am no Padawan, but I would like to take part, if you'd permit me?" That soft hint of a smile was present in his voice, as he gave a slight bow. "Knight Ryn'Dhal, at your service." he introduced himself, turning to those present, extending the greeting to them as well.

Looking back to [member="Junko Ike"], he reached up and 'scratched' the back of his helmeted head. "I don't believe I was wrong moments ago, when I referred to you as 'Knight Ike'.... Your presence is not overly dissimilar to that of Master Matsu.... would I be wrong in my assumption.....?" He'd ask, leaving an opening for his fellow Knight to introduce herself, and correct him if needed.

Junko was looking at the ones interested and there was a chance she might have generated some interest in it while she stood there. Prepared to teach them if they were able to do it while she moved around a little. To get into a small and better place that she would be able to work with. "Well looks like a better group then I expected." She was looking at the small bear, a cloaked figure, a padawan and a female... which to her meant only one thing... she was awesome and her ego stroking was so going to pay off in this situation.

"Now first step to understanding the white current is to know how to sense it. This is the first thing everyone goes through, you sit and meditate or however you do it to reach a state when your mind is quiet and able to look beyond your normal sight and senses to find the words I put here for you to see." It wasn't for everyone, it wasn't something everyone had a chance to work with and learn but it could prove very effective in the end. "This is not a talent for everyone and the only way to continue is to see if you can see it first."

Out of the corner of her eyes she saw a flash of brilliant white and the shape of one Kiriko, pirating some food before scampering off through the tent flaps. Looking outside, Coci saw many of the Jedi walking passed to go to various parts of the training area, Junko Ike, Ryn, who had popped in for a moment. Connor Harrison of course, she would never not sense his presence they had a long history over the years. Rude of him to not come and say hello though. She grinned mentally chiding her friend.

The food in the tent was prepared, and ready for the cooking, "Greetings Undin, have you come to learn how to cook?", she had had the chance to meet the young man before this but of course she knew of him. His exploits in the galaxy had been brought to her attention. It was a good thing that day she was not there, the day he stood in front of the Assembly to face charges for his crimes, or he would have found himself severed from the force to learn to appreciate what gift he had. His day was to come, [member="Thurion Heavenshield"] would see to that when he deemed the young man ready to learn his lesson.

"Do stay out of trouble please, go and learn from the masters". And maybe he will learn to find his path as Jedi in the process. She fired up the cookers, pan and pots filled with all manner of food for the taste buds of the Jedi, "BBQed meats, nerf burgers are but just some of the fare on the tables today". And a spit of roasting boar all the way from Midvinter, a little touch of the Ice on Voss.

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
[member="Junko Ike"]

Sorel’s Master had advised her to seek out two individuals to better understand White Current – and one was fortuitously at the same place at the same time. So Sorel ensured her Padawans were gainfully employed and cleared the time in her diary to meet. And learn.

So she sought out Junko. She had a small head start on any others here who wanted to learn – her Master had taught her some of the basics and she’d found an aptitude for seeing the White Current. But her learning was basic and she was eager to develop her understanding.

She bowed politely to those gathered. Familiar faces, if not on first name terms. And then she listened to what Junko might have to say first.

Listening apprehensively as the Knight set her students their first challenge, Aria sat alongside the others and closed her eyes. Supposedly once she had entered the correct mindset she would see words...fingers crossed.

Meditation not being her strong suit, it would take Aria a few tries to reach the correct state of mind. She could easily escape reality whenever there was something important to focus on, but when the situation called for it, somehow every sound was amplified and what was on the menu for lunch became a pressing concern, but after a few minutes of attempting to do so she would manage to tune out the outside world and slipped into her own mind.

Now Aria had to focus, trying to see what she would not otherwise see. She could vaguely make things out - shapes, colours, nothing definite. Instinct told her to open her eyes so as to get a better look, but she willed them shut and kept on looking. Gradually, the shapes came more into focus and she could make out a few letters, but the whole image was still too blurry to tell what was there.

Is that an I? Aria opened her eyes to get a better look and then blinked several times, sighing in frustration as she slipped out of her dreamscape. She was already looking forward to when she could tap into the White Current in moments like she had seen other Jedi do. Irritated with herself, Aria glanced over both shoulders to see whether the other students were faring better than she.

Meditate?

That was something that the Beorni did all the time. They even taught it to their cubs.

All Beorni were sensitive to the Force. Their species had learned a long, long time -- before the Valkyri had learned speech -- how to be quiet and listen to the sounds of the world around them.

Plunking his butt down, the young bear's ears drooped slightly as he bowed his head and quietly meditated. He could feel the people around him. He could feel the life moving through the wind. Or through the trees.

...but none of this seemed like a white current.

Maybe he was meditating wrong? Was there a right way to do this?

[member="Junko Ike"]

[member="Aria Vale"] [member="Ryn'Dhal"] [member="Kiriko"] [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"] [member="Sorel Crieff"]

Junko was watching them as they were sticking around to look at the things she had written in the current behind her. This could take awhile and she had nothing but time while watching them. "Take you time there is no rush in this stage." Junko was prepared to wait for them here when they wwere meditating and working on more of the things. She saw Sorel had arrived as well as Kiriko was moving around for a moment when she stood there with a look on her face when she started walking around them.

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel remembered what she had done previously – with her Master and so repeated the exercise. She’d practiced since then, entering the White Current, or so she believed.

So she repeated the steps she’d begun to practice daily, and it started with meditation as Junko instructed. She allowed the Force to flow through her, and to become part of the Force. This was the first step and in clearing her mind of all thoughts and emotions, she enabled her subconscious mind to be able to be open to the White Current and its flow. As she did, she opened her eyes and noticed things written in front of her. She wondered if Junko had written them, or was simply aware of them. But for now, she said nothing. This was a phase she was able to reach unaided – but progressing beyond this point was going to be new territory to her.

[member="Junko Ike"] [member="Kiriko"] [member="Aria Vale"]

Blinking several times to expel all traces of her previous attempt, Aria closed her eyes and eased herself into subconsciousness. This time, instead of trying to reach into her own mind, she envisioned the Force, the abstract entity becoming tangible in her mind's eye as she tuned the outer layers of the world out.

This time, the words began materializing in front of her more gradually, but they were much easier to make out now that she had left the confinement of her own being. From there, she wasn't sure exactly where to go - she knew that you were supposed to be able to continue seeing after you opened your eyes if you had successfully opened your mind to the White Current, but her mind didn't feel all that open, so she stayed for a while longer in her subconscious state to try and enable the White Current to flow more freely through her.

After a while, she felt somewhat more receptive to the flow of the White Current, although whether that was just impatience playing tricks on her it was hard to tell. Willing herself to remain within the White Current, she opened her eyes, and for a moment or two the words remained where they had been, but the second she blinked they vanished, like the image left in your mind's eye when you wake up from a dream. Ugh.

[member="Sorel Crieff"] [member="Junko Ike"] [member="Kiriko"]

The young cub continued meditating peacefully.

All the while, the Beorni caught fleeting glimpses of something just out of reach. Just out of sight. Just beyond cognition. An impression, perhaps. Though it felt more like some means to communicate. A whisper that was just out of ear shot, or a...

A word.

It was a word.

[member="Junko Ike"]

[member="Aria Vale"] [member="Ryn'Dhal"] [member="Kiriko"] [member="Undin Jaii Kryze"] [member="Sorel Crieff"]

Junko continued to look at them and some of them you could see it on their faces a little as the words 'Junko is here' were visible but she pointed them out. "Alright, if you can see them come up here and touch one of the words for yourself to disrupt and wipe it away. Only one word, do not be greedy there is enough for each of you." She said it while she moved over to the side seeing more of them with a smile though clasping her hands behind her back letting them all go forward.
