Jak eyed over the milling process with a worried eye. This project was not going smoothly - he had already tried several different permutations, and they were not having the desired effect. He'd have to do a lot of hand-work with this project. And for that, he'd need his client to show up. Soon.
The barrel was beginning to take shape now - a hollow, octagonal prism that had one bullet-sized hole on one end and a large open spot on the other for connecting to the main assembly. No... that wasn't going to work. It needed to be in as few pieces as possible. He threw the scrap into the smelter and started programming a new barrel shape. Meanwhile, he began pulling up old slugthrower designs, trying to glean inspiration from them.
