BIOGRAPHY:
Like most Togruta, Jost was born on Shili. When Jost was thirteen years old, he was assigned hunting duties by the leaders of his tribe. Jost was a bit of a slacker, therefore he would try to weasel out of hunting as often as possible. As the years dragged on, Jost's hatred for hunting grew stronger and stronger. He felt alienated from his family and community due to his inability to conform as well as the other boys his age. He began to hunt even less and less, slipping away from his elders as they left to provide food for the community. Jost would often wander off by himself, examining the beauty of nature and wonder why he couldn't just enjoy the hunt as much as the other children his age.
On Jost's sixteenth birthday, he was brought upon the elders of his tribe. They began speaking of how he was just dead weight, and how they would not have dead weight in their tribe any longer. Banishment was not a common occurence in Jost's tribe. In fact, Jost was the first to be cast out in his lifetime. It took the booming voice coming from an elder for him to fully come to terms with what he was being told, "Jost Garr, you are no longer welcome. You will have a short time to collect your little possessions, then you will leave. For good." Filled with rage and hatred, Jost stormed off for his home to collect the few items he could call his. Jost noticed how everybody was looking at him as he walked off, and he was sure that they had known. But for how long? Was he really the only one who didn't know this was coming? Either way, he saw no way he could fight his way out of this one. He had to take his banishment in full stride.
His family hadn't even tried to stop him as he was gathering his things. They simply watched, saying nothing even as he walked out of the door. He felt that the whole village was watching him as he walked out of its perimeter for the last time. With nowhere else to go, the young Togruta made course for the planet's capital of Corvala. The large city was just about two days walk away from his old village, and Jost figured it was his best shot at survival. He had learned a great bit about the wilderness as he explored, but not enough to survive on his own for his entire life. Jost made the trip relatively unscathed. However, he was unsure about what to do next. He was just an average orphaned boy in the city at this point. Scrounging off whatever food he could find, sleeping wherever the cold ground was the comfiest. He survived like this for just two weeks before he was brought in by a kindly old merchant. Jost had lost a lot of weight in those two weeks, and with it, strength. He had to recuperate for a week before he could get to work with the old merchant man to help repay him for what he had done for Jost.
Jost worked as the old merchant's apprentice for three years. Most of the work was simple grunt work. Lifting, moving and the sort. Occasionally, however, the old man would let Jost take a trip to another system to represent him. Of course, those trips were the highlight of the job for the young Jost. One of these trips took Jost to Voss, the home planet of the Silver Sanctum Coalition. Jost was eager to check out the temple, so he finished his business on the planet as quickly as he was able. His excitement seemed to overtake him as he walked up the steps to the temple. Inside, he was informed of his connection with the force and received an offer to stay at the temple to train. Awestruck, he accepted. He sent his caravan back to give the word to the old merchant, and Jost began his new life.
