The Morellian Commonwealth sits in the distant northeastern corner of Wild Space, far removed from most of the wider galaxy's politics and influences. Here in the galactic outback the gunslinger reigns supreme, and the most trustworthy companion you'll have is the iron on your hip. The Enforcers and the legendary Morellian Rangers work to keep the citizens of the Commonwealth safe, while various gangs of outlaws clash with the lawmen (and each other) to get rich or die trying. No matter which side of the law you prefer to be on, there's a place for you here in the Morellian Commonwealth.
The Good
The citizens of the Morellian Commonwealth face a variety of hazards, from ravenous beasts to cutthroat outlaws willing to kill for a fistful of credits. To combat the threats and keep her citizens safe, the Commonwealth employs the Enforcers; rugged, veteran law enforcers armed with their wits, oilcoats, and .48 caliber slugthrowers. The Enforcers are a time-honored institution, and though they have changed little over the centuries the Enforcers are still widely respected, and a sight for sore eyes out on the frontiers.
The finest of the Enforcers are selected for membership in the Morellian Rangers, the best and brightest lawmen the Commonwealth has to offer. These Rangers are equal parts soldier and lawman, and have access to the best equipment to bring the enemies of the Commonwealth to justice, whether they be desperados, rampaging monsters, or invading armies. Formed during the days of the Gulag Virus, the Rangers held the guiding light and led the way for Morellia during its darkest days.
The Bad
Throughout the frontiers of the Commonwealth, various bands of outlaws, desperados, and ne'er do wells do battle with the law and each other, fighting for land, riches, and resources, each trying to carve a place for themselves at any cost. For each gang the Enforcers put down, another two sprout up, and despite the best efforts of the law criminals always find new routes to smuggle, new boltholes to hide in, and new weapons to terrorize the good, law-abiding people who call the Commonwealth home.
Notable gangs include the outlaws led by "Kyramud Kass" Holliday, an outlaw who survived the eradication of her original gang and escaped the Commonwealth only to return many years later with advanced Mandalorian tech, and the Viridian Vipers run by Tevris Novastar, who combine Morellian gunplay with Atrisian swordsmanship to cut their foes to bloody ribbons.
The Ugly
It's an unfortunate truth that, in the efforts to stop the spread of the Gulag Virus, the Commonwealth and her Rangers took several extreme measures up to and including nuclear bombardment. While most understand the necessity of such actions, they have left lasting impacts on Morellian space. Several worlds bear the scars of nuclear fire, and while most give these places a wide berth some adventurous (or reckless) treasure hunters explore these ruins for riches left buried and forgotten along with the dead. Even in places such as these, however, nature eventually reclaims what once was hers, and it's believed several species have adapted to these nuclear wastelands, mutating into stronger, deadlier beasts. Nature's own way of teaching that the ashes of the past should remain undisturbed, perhaps.
