APPEARANCE:
John Rakugan wears a slick white shirt and white tie with a grey executive suit. He's never seen without his signature black sunglasses either on his face or on his person, which he uses to hide a scar near his eyes from a vibroblade. He has a blaster carbine strapped to his back at all times, as well as two more blasters in each of his long black boots. "Can never be too careful".
BIOGRAPHY:
John Rakugan is a starship engineer and C.E.O of Elysium Industries, a starship manufacturer. John is a veteran military engineer, having served for eight years in the military before quietly retiring to a secluded property in Commenor, in Chasin City.
While in the Commenor military, Rakugan was a starship engineer who worked in a busy hangar repairing shields, weapon systems and anything else he was asked to fix. Rakugan originally joined the military to provide for his family: his pregnant wife and her aging parents. Rakugan recalls working grueling 12-hour work days on a regular basis as a trainee, which was meant to "build character". Even though it was physically exhausting, John loved everything about the military and loved to build things (except for his "character", of course). For a long time, it was his home. Rakugan's impeccable skill in the hangar--combined with his can-do attitude--nailed him promotion after promotion. His tour of duty was extended once, then extended again, then extended indefinitely for 8 years. Rakugan's wife, weary of her husband neglecting for the reasons he originally joined the military, left Rakugan. As a consequence, John has never met his 17-year-old daughter.
Rakugan left the military with the rank of Major.
For more than two decades after his military service, Rakugan has performed weapons research and sold weapons out of a small store, "John's Guns", to make ends meet. He has spent a great deal of time, money and energy attempting to weaponize chrysopaz crystals on his home planet of Commenor. This expensive endeavour has yielded only laser and ion burns, failing time and time again, each attempt becoming more expensive. Rakugan has been repeatedly denied funding by the monarchy of Commenor, whom he tends to stereotype as "snobby banthas". So, sadly, "John's Guns" was forced to remain merely a retail establishment.
When the credit flow became more and more stiff, John created Elysium Industries: a starship manufacturer based on the planet of Commenor . He received a loan from his best friend and ally, Thavron "Howie" Howard. who agreed to lend him support and a loan for the privilege of his name being on whatever he makes.
As soon as John opened his operation, Elysium was inundated with business contracts; a starport building request, a starship contract on from Setus Prime, and even a holocall from a Noble who had crashed his luxury yacht. Thankfully, with Thavron Howard running the business operations--and with John Rakugan as Chief Engineer and designer--Elysium kept their contracts well-organized and running smoothly.
SHIP:
Rakugan has a Radiant VII Cruiser for personal use. The hangar bay (predictably) is extremely well-equipped and the computer system has been upgraded to maximum capacity, but other than that, it has no noteworthy features. It's basically a factory model with a few bells and whistles.
