​Not your typical Sith, Jerun was taught from an early age that restraint and skill were the best was to go. The son of a Sith Empire solider and Sith lord, Jerun was left in the care of his father while his mother went off to fight the Jedi. His father taught him the value of discipline and restraint in battle, something most sith lacked. His father also recognized his strength in the force, he knew that Jerun would be a powerful Sith one day.

When his mother returned from battle, she immediately began training her son. Jerun was a fast learner, easily grasping difficult techniques in a matter of days allowing him to use his powers fully at a young age. A gifted swordsmen Jerun was able to cut down anyone in his age group and was more than a match for the older sith boys around him.

When he reached his teens Joren underwent further training on the planet Korriban, where he received more teachings in the dark side. He demonstrated great skill in the powers of telekinesis and Force grip. He became highly skilled in the use of force lightning, using it as both a means of torture and execution, and is able to use it in conjunction with telekinesis. He perfected the Makashi form of lightsaber battle, choosing to beat his opponents with expert skill.
