Jedi Underground: Mission Board

Underground Aficionado

Mission Board

The Jedi Underground is a network of enclaves, contacts and safe houses within space that is unwelcoming to light-siders. In these dark times, the Jedi must take action, and must help those that cannot help themselves.

To give our writers a framework for telling those stories, we're launching the Mission Board.

  • How it Works
    • At launch, five missions will be posted to the board.
    • After completing your first mission, you'll be able to submit new mission ideas to add to the board.
    • Each mission is first come, first served. Once it's claimed and completed, it won't repeat. Similar missions may appear in time, there are only so many stories that can be told after all! I am not the Hallmark channel with millions of different story ideas.
    • What do you need to do:
      • Post in this thread, claiming a mission.
      • Assemble your team, write the thread.
      • Have fun - this is mandatory.

  • Mission Requirements
    • To count as a completed Mission (and earn rewards), a thread must have:
      • 10+ posts minimum
      • At least 2 different writers
      • A complete story: beginning (in media res is fine), conflict, and resolution
    • Resolution doesn't mean "success." Failures are welcome, and may carry IC consequences (your character might be sidelined from leadership for a time, lose confidence, whatever, it is largely up to you to roleplay out and it can bring up fun new arcs to explore.) I won't be policing this too intensely, nor checking for 'quality story telling' or anything like that. Just have fun. I ain't your judge.

  • Rewards
    • Completing missions earns your character flairs/titles — e.g. Underground Initiate for your first success, etc.
    • We have had one person offer rewards of a In Character nature but that is still a work in progress. It would largely be unique or semi-unique items that have been subbed.
    • Fun.

  • Style of Threads
    • Think of the classic missions in Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, some episodic, some connected. Missions can be:
      • Standalone one-shots
      • Stepping stones in a larger arc
      • Collaborative crossovers with other factions, smugglers, or allies

NOTE: If you do not write a character that is of enough experience or rank to claim a mission, feel free to NPC one that is so you can still do the mission.

Mission Board
Please note that the Difficulty Rating and Mission Leadership suggestion are purely IC recommendations. If you are writing a Padawan on an Extreme mission for example, you are welcome to NPC someone that is with them...perhaps that NPC dying adds some flavour to your story.

Mission to Tython

The Empire has conquered Tython, ancient cradle of the Jedi. Rumours whisper of artefacts unearthed during Imperial digs, relics that must not fall into their hands.

Objective: Infiltrate Tython, locate the dig site, and extract (or sabotage) the relics.
Complication: The site is crawling with Imperial survey teams and dark side adepts eager to twist the artefacts.
Difficulty Rating: Extreme
Mission Leadership: Jedi Knight or above to lead, Padawan may accompany.

Mission to Brentaal IV (Recon)

In the warrens beneath Brentaal IV’s trade spires, whispers speak of a Force-sensitive making a living with parlour tricks in the underworld. It may be a frightened runaway, or a carefully laid Imperial trap. The Underground needs eyes on the ground.

Objective: Confirm whether the rumour is true. identify if the Force-sensitive exists and whether they are in danger.
Complication: The Empire is known to bait Jedi with false rumors. Imperial agents may be waiting, and underworld gangs don’t welcome intruders.
Difficulty Rating: Moderate (low entry, high risk if it’s a trap)
Mission Leadership: Padawan or above may lead, with Knight supervision encouraged.

Mission to Nar Shaddaa (Sabotage)

One of Nar Shaddaa’s Hutts is suspected of trafficking in Force-sensitive children. His sanctuary holds records of recent purchases, but breaking in is nearly impossible. The Underground must infiltrate, plant surveillance, and escape unseen.

Objective: Plant listening devices in the Hutt’s offices to confirm his involvement in trafficking.
Complication: The sanctuary is layered with traps, mercenaries, and Black Sun enforcers. A single misstep could expose the entire Underground presence on Nar Shaddaa.
Difficulty Rating: Extreme
Mission Leadership: Jedi Knight or above to lead. Padawans may accompany.

Mission to Caamas

Caamas, once a lush jewel of the Core, has been undergoing centuries of renewal to bring back its ancient, green glory. A Jedi Master assigned to the terraforming project is said to still be in hiding on Caamas.

Objective: Locate and recover the lost Jedi Master.
Complication: Toxic storms, mutated wildlife, Imperial patrols, and terrain that varies from fresh newly revitalised swamps to toxic wastelands.
Difficulty Rating: Average
Mission Leadership: Experience Padawan or above to lead, in experienced Padawan may accompany.

Mission to Nimban claimed

Nimban, stronghold of the Nimbanel clans, is thick with spice refineries and Black Sun cartels. A shipment of weapons intended for Imperial allies is set to depart the world.

Objective: Sabotage the shipment before it leaves Nimban’s spaceport.
Complication: Black Sun mercenaries and clan enforcers guard the docks, and the shipment is hidden among civilian cargo.
Difficulty Rating: Average
Mission Leadership: Experience Padawan or above may lead, inexperienced Padawan may accompany

Mission to Shador
claimed

Shador has become a den for slavers under Black Sun rule. Intelligence suggests a transport carrying captured Force-sensitives will depart soon.

Objective: Free the captives before they vanish into Black Sun networks.
Complication: The slavers are expecting rescue attempts and have laid traps. Black Sun has hired Mandalorian muscle to guard the shipment.
Difficulty Rating: Extreme
Mission Leadership: Jedi Knight or above to lead. Padawan may accompany.

Mission to Balmorra
claimed

Balmorra’s factories now churn for the Empire, powered by enslaved labour, including captured Jedi sympathisers. Breaking them free may turn the tide of local resistance.

Objective: Liberate key prisoners and disrupt Imperial weapons shipments.
Complication: The city is heavily patrolled. Imperial officers hide behind the civilian population as shields.
Difficulty Rating: Hard
Mission Leadership: Jedi Knight or above to lead, Padawan may accompany.
