Tips:
  • Each weapon uses different special ammo. Always remember to check what special ammo a weapon uses before buying it.
  • More weapons means more elemental utility. Elemental utility is your friend.
  • Upgrade the carrying capacity of your resource components bag ASAP.
  • Learn to spot, remember, and fight a machines weak spots WITHOUT the assistance of your Focus.
  • There will never be tall grass conveniently close enough to your targets. Purchase the LURE! skill very, very early on.
  • The Precision Bow is your friend. Mod it often.
  • Snipe Boars. Knife turkeys.
  • Your Tripcaster's trip wires can be really, really wide. Set wide traps.
  • TEAR is the attribute that commits towards removing machine's components and exposing armored weaknesses. Know your weapons TEAR score.
  • Herds do respawn quickly.
  • Dropped loot disappears if you die.
  • It takes forever to tie down a machine with the Ropecaster. Try stunning it instead unless you're planning a retreat.
  • During the ambush. Kill the guy with the 50 caliber machine gun. Then take his machine gun and kill everybody else.
  • Potions are 1000% better than your medical bar. Craft potions and upgrade your carry capacity often.
  • Learn to use the quick slot bar in combat. Remember, potions.
  • If all the Watchers are dead. You can crouch and walk right up to a Strider, (or a Scrapper,) and stealth kill it head on.
  • Putting a Fire Arrow into a Strider's butt canister is really, really hard to do. Aim higher than you think you need to.
  • Learn to craft ammo from the quick slot screen DURING the heat of combat. Because Scorpion Robots.
  • Corruption machines do corruption poison damage ADDED to each melee strike. You WILL die slowly while you die quickly.
  • Do not get attached to one armor set. You can carry tons of armored clothing. Swap in and out of your armors often to match the robot types you are hunting.
  • If you want the best armor in the game? Use the internet and make a note of all the Power Cell locations.
