JAY

NAME: Jay is known only by his first name. When he has to give a surname, it varies. His favorites are "Byrd" and "Walker".

RANK: At the moment, Jay holds no official rank or title. He hates being referred to by... well pretty much any title.

SPECIES: Mirialan

AGE: Although his exact age is uncertain, and he looks younger, Jay is in his late twenties.

HEIGHT: just over 1.75 meters tall

WEIGHT: about 86kg

EYES: unusual for most Mirialan, Jay's eyes are a pale grey

HAIR: light brown

SKIN: green

FORCE SENSITIVE: Nope

STRENGTHS:

• slicing - Jay is a highly skilled slicer and programmer.
• unarmed combat - Mirialan are known for their flexibility and agility. Jay has leveraged this trait by training in a variety of martial arts and unarmed combat styles
• network - Although Jay never talks about his family, he uses his family's network of contacts/connections/informants/etc often. If there is information to be had, or objects to be obtained, Jay knows someone who knows someone who can provide it... of course, the quality of what he obtains is uncertain...
• Kaylin - His adopted sister is a source of strength and inspiration.
• In addition to Basic, Jay speaks fluent Huttese and can understand (but not speak) the rudiments of Twi'lek.

WEAKNESSES:

• armed combat - Jay is, at best, a less than average shot with a blaster. He is completely ignorant of other fire arms and ranged weapons.
• mechanics - The Odyssey has been Jay's home for as long as he can remember. He is familiar with literally every inch of his ship having performed many of it's modifications himself. Unfortunately, the Odyssey's inner workings are so jury-rigged that Jay can ONLY work on the Odyssey. Attempting mechanical repairs or work anywhere else often leads to catastrophic failure.
• piloting - As with mechanics, Jay's piloting skills are limited to the Odyssey. While he may be able to figure out how to pilot another XS-class ship, that's about it.
• Kaylin - Jay will do anything to protect and provide for his adopted sister.

APPEARANCE:
Jay is fairly nondescript. A touch over average height and weight, without a gram of fat on his body, he has a scrapper's physique. Even his clothing is nondescript until you look closer. Always dressing simply, neatly, and appropriate for the occasion, Jay doesn't consider himself dressed at all without a combat knife in his boot and a small thin blade hidden beneath the leather bracer habitually worn on his left forearm. When the occasion warrants, he will add a blaster on his right hip. Of course, with his lack of skill with firearms, the blast is mostly for show. Half the time it isn't even charged.

Mirialan are known for their tattoos. Jay sports two diamond shaped tattoos set vertically between his eyes. In Mirialan culture, tattoos represent the accomplishments of the individual. The combination of design and position convey a story to those who know how to read it. Jay's tattoos convey nothing at all. His tattoo design and placement are unknown to the Mirialan lexicon and he never gives a straight answer when questioned about it.

BIOGRAPHY:
Little is known about Jay's past. His family was involved in the "transport" business, both legally and illegally. Most of the time, the family would transport small legitimate shipments from one planet to another while surreptitiously delivering information to one of their less-than-legitimate contacts. With all of the caution taken to remain anonymous, not even their oldest contacts can give consistent information about the family.

As for Jay himself, no-one remembers a time when he wasn't living aboard the Odyssey. Almost a decade ago, he began making "supply runs" on his own. No-one seem to know what happened to his parents. They simply stopped making runs themselves. They had vanished without a trace. Jay continued the business without interruption and lived on his own until just a couple years ago when Kaylin (link will be added when NPC is approved) joined him.
