Personality

Javek is a loose personality. He tends to be very open minded to subjects and opinions, but he stands firm on things he believes in. He also enjoys the company of others, regardless if he dislikes certain things about them. And despite his upbringing he sometimes has the sly wit of a street rat in his prime. Although, that's nothing to really brag about...

Background

Farm Boy –

Javek Tysis was raised on a small farm settlement on the planet of Dantooine, his father was a farmer who would often grow crops and sell them to the surrounding settlements for profit. The credits didn’t add up, but it was enough to get by.

Although Javek held no particular interest in farming he would help his father raise crops, but his fondest activity was helping his father hunt the surrounding wildlife. Hunting the local Bol for its hide was a common practice for his father, and because of this his skills with a hunting blaster was second to none.

The night of Javek’s seventh birthday, his father took him on a hunting trip. Only, Javek was the hunter this time. Lacking both experience and the will to shoot and kill anything living, Javek failed miserably at the task, yet he made his father proud by trying nonetheless.

But one gruelingly eerie night, the family’s farm was attacked by a small herd of Bol. The beasts were not submissive in the least, they wanted blood. Javek’s father and mother defended the farm against all odds, but the lack of ammunition would seal their fate. As Javek watched his mother get pounced on by a Bol, he could do nothing but reach out his arms as if he could stop it just by the action. Javek screamed at the top of his lungs, and as if his wish was answered, the Bol flew backwards and away from his injured mother.

The child did the same to any other Bol willing to charge at him, the “push” stunned them, but it did not stop them. In time, fellow settlers along with a Jedi came to their rescue driving off the remaining Bol. The farm sustained severe damage, along with its human occupants.

Sensitivity –

Once Javek and his family recovered from the injuries they sustained, they were approached by a Twi’lek Jedi named Alask Brig. As rumors spread across the settlements about Javek’s actions during the herd attack, he sought to recruit Javek into the Jedi Order an opportunity that frankly no one saw coming. Javek was excited to be given a chance to join such a benevolent group, but his father was unwilling to let his son go.

Javek’s mother on the other hand, insisted that Javek join the Order. The two argued while their son sat to the side. But after an hour of debating they finally came down to the conclusion that it’d be best for him to join the Jedi Order.

Although his parents were reckoned with sadness, they never expected their own son would be given this chance, not to mention they never knew he was force sensitive. Once goodbyes were said, Javek and the Jedi left Dantooine.

Gray or nay –

The Jedi that recruited Javek seemed a bit odd at first glance. He was polite and “Jedi like” in front of Javek’s parents, but once off planet his demeanor changed. He still gave off a peaceful aura, yet he spoke in a rough tone. Regardless of all this, Javek admired him and was still overjoyed during their travel.

Javek was being taken to the planet of Tythe, a desert wasteland. The planet seemed unlikely to host a Jedi Temple and even Javek, blinded by excitement, knew something was wrong. And as if Alask was reading his mind, he revealed his plan for Javek. Telling him, he was to be raised and trained on Tythe. He ensured him he would be trained to use the force and enforce peace, but not in the fashion the Jedi Order would agree with. Alask was what most would call, a Gray Jedi, neither walking in the light or dark.

Javek was neither disappointed, nor angered by Alask’s lies. He merely wanted to learn more about the force, Javek was an open jar ready to be filled with needles.

Is This The Right Way? –

After years of training in the wasteland, Javek finally reached the capability to complete Alask’s set of trials. He venture to different destinations to recover items that peeked his Masters interest, and at times he’d be sent to defeat specific beast. To the gnarly Boma to the six legged Acklay. Once he proved to Alask that he was prepared to become his full apprentice he was sent across the galaxy to find the needed resources to build his own lightsaber.

Javek managed to recover the necessary components for his first lightsaber, but he was only missing the most important item. The crystal. So Javek travelled to Ilum searching for the crystal caves. Before Javek’s departure, Alask warned Javek that he was not to mingle with any Jedi or their initiates if he so happened to run into them, so in a sense he was to be sneaky.

Regardless of his wishes, Javek met a Jedi initiate named Mela. At first Javek attempted to get away from the initiate, but failed when he was attacked by a native Gorgodon. But with the two working together they were capable of defeating the hulking beast that nearly killed Javek. During the attack, Javek’s Datapad was destroyed, the pad contained his ships coordinates and without its exact location, Javek was lost on the frigid planet.

But Mela insisted that she’d help him find his ship before returning to the group she traveled the crystal caves with. During their travels, Mela spoke of the Jedi philosophies and her experiences in training as a son to be padawan of the Jedi Order. Javek grew concerned that Alask’s teachings were misguided and unbalanced when compared to that of the Jedi.

Unbalanced –

Once Javek completed Alask’s trials and built his own lightsaber, he ventured across the galaxy beside Alask completing a variety of quest. Some most would deem questionable to those who seek peace. The longer they traveled, the more Javek’s Master changed. From the beginning, Alask warned Javek of the consequences of using the Darkside too frequently when given the choice. But it was as if Alask began to forget his own words.

He would force choke those he found irritating, and at times use unkindly words and impel individuals to get answers. As Javek watched his Master change, he began to feel as if he was on the wrong side of the fence. He knew this wasn’t what he wanted ever since he was told what was in store for him on Alask’s ship. He knew that the Jedi didn’t act in the way his master did, Alask began to seethe with darkside energy whenever something went wrong. And that worried his apprentice horribly.

All Javek wanted to do was get away and join the Jedi, something he should have done from the beginning. Something that just may get him killed in the process.

Strife –

Eventually, Javek had enough, He confronted Alask telling him how he felt and how he’s become worried he’d turn to the darkside. Alask admitted to noticing this, but even so, resisted Javek’s advice to seek help. The master wished not to listen to the student and ignored further attempts by Javek. Javek continued relentlessly to save his master from turning completely. But one day, after returning to Tythe, Alask broke down into anger and rage and Javek was caught in the middle of it. The two clashes not only with words, but with sabers. Sparks flew and sweat dripped as the two fought, one on the offensive and the other on the defensive. Master against his apprentice.
Javek did not wish to fight his master, but Alask was caught in a blind rage that couldn’t be broken through words alone. Javek was unable to defend against Alask’s attacks for long, and he eventually was forced to retreat under the stress. Alone, with nowhere to hide Javek was forced to take his last stand with his back against the wall.

He began to tense up as the odds grew against him. But with that tenseness grew anger, angered that he was being turned on by his own master. Anger that his parents were deceived by the one who insured so much and showed him so little. With nothing but anger, Javek lashed back at his master with wild fury. Through his anger, he gained the upper hand in the sporadic fight and eventually over through Alask, brutally killing him.

Inner Sorrow-

After his masters defeat, Javek left for Dantooine to reunite with his parents. But something was amiss when he entered the farm. It was empty, comparable to a ghost town. Speeders were left in unorthodox areas, and farming supplies was set in every other location. Almost as if they were scrambling to get away from something.

And then Javek spotted it, three toed foot prints in the ground, a large amount of them. Another Bol herd must have returned some time ago. Javek left to find answers, asking fellow settlers what happened to his family’s farm. And every single one of them gave the same answer, stating they were killed in another attack by the Bol herds.

Javek broke down in tears and found himself grief stricken. He began to blame himself for their deaths, but realized in the end there was really nothing he could have done to stop it. For two years, Javek stayed on Dantooine living off the food of his fellow settlers. In time he decided he was wasting his potential and finally left the farm, deciding to never look back.
