- Reluctant Warrior: For much of his early political career, Jaius was a devout pacifist who believed conflict was to be avoided at all cost. Time and experience has forced him to adopt more pragmatic beliefs, but many of the Sullustan's followers view him as much as a commander as a politician. He still believes violence should only be used as a last resort, but he is no longer the type to be held hostage by his own moral panic.
- Gentleman and a Scholar: Some might say a relic of a bygone age, the Sovv family raised a man with a combined sense of etiquette and academic scholarship not often seen in in the modern galactic era. A consummate academic, Jaius is educated not just in the humanities but social science as well. His compulsory service in the Home Guard was in signals, further broadening his background as someone more than passingly familiar with military protocol.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Jaius does what he does because he believes in democracy, in galactic pluralism and that the sum total of what unites sentient life is greater than our divisions. He is a lifelong public official, having worked his way up from a small provincial seat all the way to the Sullustan Council, eventually becoming President of his home planet before he entered intergalactic politics. He's attentive, kind, and understanding, but most importantly he is very good at his job.
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: While it may sound admirable, Jaius' compulsive need to make a better future for everyone often leads him to take on problems way beyond his ability to solve. His best intentions are easily played upon, and every failure takes an even greater toll, both physical and mental. A deep sense of guilt and shame over his role in the collapse of the Alliance only drives him to push far beyond what in the long term his tolerances will allow.
- The Chains of Command: Jaius is trapped and lonely. Forced to flee his home for fear of persecution, he has spent a long time under the scrutiny of both the public eye and private security details. Isolated by professional circumstances but still driven by the importance of his work, he may have escaped First Order custody but he now resides in a prison of his own design.
- Feeling His Age: Sullustans are not a long lived people, and Sovv is considerably past his prime. He has been slow and frail for years, requiring the use of a repulsorlift based hovercane to support his weight and requiring frequent opportunities to rest. It will not be long until he is confined entirely to a chair, infirmity having finally claimed the use of his legs.
Once considered handsome in his youth by Sullustan standards, Sovv now looks even older than his age. Worn down by a lifetime of expectation and then authority, his default expression of burdened pensiveness is occasionally intruded upon by a subdued vibrancy, particularly in his eyes, when speaking with others.
