Personality and Beliefs
Ives is detached, indecisive, and ruled by a deep-rooted sense of fear which he runs away from relentlessly. He can be fatalistic, obstinate, and terse. He does his best to avoid conflict and inner turmoil, seeking ways to numb pain points to preserve a sense of inner peace. He struggles with maintaining long-term relationships because of this and sometimes attaches himself to a concept or a person to make up for it. As a result, he is often out of touch with what's best for himself.
Somewhat surprising, perhaps, is that he is also very resilient. Even stubborn, at times. He can keep himself going even in the worst of situations, but will often fail to act to get himself out of them or be blind to the solutions of his problems. That resilience allows him to keep working way past his limits, oftentimes in service of a cause or individual. Despite his misanthropic ways, he's got a heart of gold that gets him in trouble more often than not.

Skills
Drama: Know them, but never let them know you.
Volition: You've been through worse. How bad is it really? Keep going.
Inland Empire: Your imagination and intuition are boundless, unfiltered and broken by a kaleidoscope of waking dreams.
Shivers: Catch the beat of the city's heart, feel the pulse of the soil's veins.

Strengths & Weaknesses
  • Advanced Medical skills
  • Familiarity with ships, speeders, and machinery
  • Allergic to bacta
  • Allergic to pheromones
  • Prone to hyperspace sickness and hyperspace lag
  • Lung problems, especially on very oxygen-rich planets
  • Ghor accent
  • Craven survivor
  • Agoraphobic

History
He grew up on Telos IV, eventually pursuing a career in medicine. Becoming a doctor turned out not to be in the cards for him, but a year deep into his studies he'd picked up a some skills that proved useful enough to transition into a position as a paramedic.
Being a paramedic didn't stick either. The intensity of the job turned out to be too much to handle with an ongoing crisis in his family, and after his third panic attack he quit, taking up temp jobs including cargo pilot and machine shop assistant.
Nowadays he hops from system to system taking odd-jobs and part-time work to make the rounds.
Story Beats & Plot Hooks
  • Exploring strange places: there are all these wonderful submissions that I've always wanted to explore, and this character would fit well with themes of subtle horror or deep mystery
  • Non-traditional Sith: I want this character to eventually end up being a Sith. I have a path planned out for that, but meeting and connecting with other Sith, especially non-traditional ones, would be a great way to explore this aspect of his character.
  • Mystery & Discovery: I'm planning a web of mystery around this character that relies heavily on past connections to other characters. It's a lot like unearthing old history, but with fresh perspectives.
  • Chaotic adventures: throwing characters into situations in which they're way out of their depth is always fun. For now, this character is fairly ordinary without much combat or military experience, so much of the 'normal' storytelling would end up being quite overwhelming for the poor fellow. But that's fun.
