It's time

Kable was on a mission. He walked the streets of Keldabe in his black besk'gar. His pulse quickened as he neared his destination.
He stood outside the armor shop and took a deep breath before he walked in. He had arrived.

He entered the shop and removed his buy'ce and clipped it in on his belt. He wasn't here for armor, there was and armor-smith that he needed to talk to. The young smith came out from the back and Kable caught his eye. He gripped the young man's forearm in greeting.
"[member="Kad Tor"], just the man I wanted to see"

The young beskarsmith had been working in the forge all morning. His arms were dirty, glistened in sweat from the heat of his forge. It was lunch time or close to it, and the young goran needed a break. A break after he dealt with the customer who set off the door chime as they entered the shop. He was surprised to see [member="Kable Detta"] walk in through the shop. His armor was too new looking to be there for armor. All of a sudden the Mando'ad felt his gut tighten.

[member="Briika Tor"] had been talking about how serious the two had gotten. Their courtship had been going on for sometime, and Kable had used some language which indicated he was in it for the long haul. If this was what he thought it was about, this was about to be the hardest conversation he had ever had with another verd.

"Su'cuy, Kable. I didn't expect to see you. I was about to get some lunch, you got some time?"

"Su'cuy! Lunch sounds amazing"

First part of the mission was complete. Make contact with the specified armor-smith. Now it was time to for the next phase. Lunch.
"What sounds good Kad? My treat" [member="Kad Tor"]

Why did things have to be so "programmed" with Mando'ad sometimes? [member="Kable Detta"] definitely had an agenda with how qquickly he accepted the lunch invitation. So the dance around the giant strill in the room was about to begin. The two were going have lunch, get some ale, and likely go through the entire meal without getting down to business. Kad should just bring it up.

"Briika is working. We can walk over to the house and I can grill, pop open some ale?

Kad would bring it up after.

"Sounds good!"
He walked with Kad through the streets. The Tor sibling was a good man. Kable liked him and had enjoyed getting to know him over the past few months. Kable thought of Kad like a brother, and in fact, Kable intended to marry Briika and make Kad his brother-in-law.

Kable initiated conversation with Kad as they walked. "So Briika tells me that things are going well with a certain mechanic..."
He winked
"Tell me about her?" [member="Kad Tor"]

"Oh Ral, she's a little spitfire, definitely mandokarla," Kad said. "Ralize is nearly a foot shorter than me, rather petite, dark hair, the most stunning green eyes I have ever seen in my life. I like spending time with her, and the way she blushes when I smile, well it makes me smile more.

Smart move on [member="Kable Detta"]'s part. If he wanted to have some more time to get to the issue, and get Kad in a more agreeable mood, talking about [member="Ralize Darkfeather"] was the way to do it.

"Did Briika tell you how we met?"

Even though that wasn't the question he wanted to ask, Kad would tell the story if he hadn't heard. The real question he wanted to ask was if the way he felt when he was around Ral was what Kable felt being around Briilka. Kable didn't have a brother to talk to about these types of things, and Kable was the closest thing he had to that now. Sure [member="Briika Tor"] was helpful, but sometimes Kad just felt like he needed another guy to talk to.

"Um... can I ask a personal question... is that how Briika makes you feel... you know like you can't get her off your mind, your stomach knots up just thinking about her... you know that stuff?"

Kable nodded. "Yes, she told me. It was quite adorable" He punched the young beskar-smith in the shoulder playfully. "You've got it bad" He chuckled. His voice trailed off as his thoughts drifted to the girl that encompassed all of his own attention.

Kable listened and thought very carefully about his answer before he spoke "The simple answer...Yes. She makes me feel all of that. She is always on my mind, and I never want to get her off my mind. The knots in your stomach will go away and will turn into butterflies. And those butterflies will flutter with every smile she gives you, cause that's what your sister does to me" He sighed. He was tired off beating around the bush. He knew what he wanted, it was time. He stopped walking and stared the Tor brother in the eyes.
"Kad, I had this whole speech planned which relied on me catching you in the right mood, but I'm not going to insult your intelligence. I love your sister and I want to marry her. So, I'm asking your permission for her hand." [member="Kad Tor"]

Seriously!? Now Kable was punching his shoulder. The young goran was nearly tempted to reach behind himself and see if he had a sign on his back which said punch me. The vod was right though. Kad did seem to have it pretty bad for the petite brunette, and from what [member="Kable Detta"] had just indicated, it likely would never go away.

"Seems like I'm not the only one who has it bad," Kad said in response to what Kable had just asked.

He knew the question was coming, but it still hit him pretty hard when it came. [member="Briika Tor"] had already told Kad what her intentions were should Kable actually work up the nerve to ask her for a riduurok, so the youngest of the Tor siblings knew this was a done deal.

"We can't get lunch if you're going to just stand there vod'ika."

Yes, Kad had just used the affectionate. Truth be told, Kad already felt like Kable was part of his family. SInce moving to Keldabe, the Detta brothers had found a special place in his heart. While Valen could not be replaced, the two Detta boys had helped to fill the void Valen's death had left behind. Hopefully Kable undeerstood what Kad had meant by using the affectionate as well, but if he hadn't then Kad needed to spell it out.

"I've known this was coming since the first day we met, Kable. You've had my blessing since then. You love Briika, I know you do, but what's more you respect her,, and if you can promise me that you will do that until the day you draw your last breath then I'll make sure Solus Tor likes you."

Kable wasn't the father, not that it mattered. So many riduurok pledges were made on the battle field in a single moment. Kad respected Kable even more for even seeking blessing before he went through with it.

"Briika wouldn't understand what I'm about to say as much as you would, but ever since Valen was killed I have so desperately missed having a brother. He was much older, but he was still a brother. You've always treated me like family Kable, and I appreciate that. All I can really say at this point is welcome to the family."

Who cared what anyone thought? At that point, Kad grabbed Kable and gave a big mando'ad sized hug.

Kable accepted the hug as it carried away the huge weight that was on his shoulders. Once the Tor brother let him go, Kable responded.
"I have survived two zombie attacks, faced off against a sith lord and survived and raided a slave ring and wasn't nervous nearly as nervous as I just was"
Kable let out a hearty laugh.

His tone became serious. "I could never replace Valen, but if you'll let me, I can create new memories with you as your brother."
The smile came back to his lips ".....and you get Nolan as well" [member="Kad Tor"]

"Well I was serious about lunch and the fact Briika was not home, so we might as well start there in making some memories, besides I want some advice about Ral. I've gotten some from Briika, but want a guy's perspective."

Was that wise, Kad wasn't completely sure, but he did know he wanted to talk to Kable about it some more. The Mando'ad had come what he came to do, and now Kad was get his questions answered. Besides there was some steak in the cold storage that needed to be cooked, and ale which needed to be drunk. It was the middle of the day, so they would have to stay sober, but that did not mean they couldn't enjoy the noon meal.

"How do you like you steak, vod," Kad asked as he opened the front door of the home Briika and Kad had rented out a few months prior.

[member="Kable Detta"]

Kable grinned widely "Lunch sounds even better now. Come on Kad, lets go talk about girls" He laughed

"I like my steak cooked medium rare. Anything I can help with?" He asked as he followed Kad into the Tor residence
[member="Kad Tor"]

"There is ale in the cold storage, and if you want there are some greens and potatoes in there too," Kad said as he fired up the grill.

Now Kad was the one on a mission. His mind was on figuring out what it had been that triggered Kable's recollection that Briika actually liked him.

"So tell me [member="Kable Detta"], when did you know that Briika liked you, and more importantly when did you know that you wanted to be with her for the rest of your life, you know how did you know she was the one?"

Kable grabbed two ale from the cold storage and open the tops and handed one to [member="Kad Tor"] and clinked his glass against Kad's.

"Well, being a guy, I think I missed the initial signals that that she sent my way. But I would say that I finally picked up that she liked me when I joined you two for lunch that day that my brother crash landed next to us"
Kable chuckled
"But I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her since the moment I met her on the Wheel. My feelings were confirmed during our mission on Eriadu."
He sat back in his chair "So have you taken her out yet?"

"Oh so in other words you figured it out when I showed up... figures... don't tell Briika I said this, but we can be pretty dense sometimes," Kad said taking the ale, clinking the bottle, and taking his own swig before setting the bottle down.

The steaks were seasoned, but they needed to go on the grill. Grabbing his cooking tongs, Kad put the raw meat on the grill. It seemed all he was going to need to do was sear the outside to get a good medium rare. Kad liked his meat closer to medium, but he would cook both steaks the same, it just made it easier, and got him back to the forge faster. Kad did have a quota to make for the day.

"Well I caught her some fish, and cooked dinner while she was fixing my speeder. She couldn't stop blushing and I couldn't stop smiling. Briika says that means she likes me, and well, I guess she knows right? The height difference is interesting... makes kissing her interesting..." Kad said catching himself. "Um if Briika asks you didn't hear that last part... not that it matters whether she knows or not, but she's gonna tease me big time!"

[member="Kable Detta"]

Kable nodded as he listened to Kad's story. It was a cute story about how the two young lovebirds had met. After Kad was done, Kable spoke up.
"Your secret is safe with me."
He took a swig of his ale before continuing. "Why don't you two go on a date with Briika and I?"
[member="Kad Tor"]

"So you can both harass me?

Seriously, he knew Briika well enough to know that was a bad idea. Steaks were ready anyhow, and Kad wanted to eat. Time to shut down the double date conversation. Briika would bring it up later anyway.

"You ready to get married, vod? What's the thing that makes you the most nervous?"

[member="Kable Detta"]
