It's Just, Good Business

Locations: Recalcitrant, Eisenwelt
Characters: Corruck Kazen, Crew of Recalcitrant, and [member="sabrina"]
Corruck's current location: Recalcitrant in hyperspace
Corruck tossed and turned on his bunk. It just didn't feel comfortable at the moment. He was probably just nervous... and it didn't help that Nothy had removed a lot of the stuffing from mattress. He would have to talk to her about that later, but for now he should get some food. Tonight, or the clock he showed it to be night, it was Sheera's turn to cook. That meant that the food would be more traditional, and certainly more edible than most other evenings.

He stood up, off of the de-stuffed mattress. He felt he could sleep in a standing position better than on that bed. He understood why Nothy did it, since the scientists had moved out of the ship she had had far fewer people to mess with. She didn't single out anyone on the ship, except maybe Rathur, but that was hardly unexpected. She always loved playing tricks on him, he really made it easy and the reward was always a face of such pure shock, mixed with anger and a small amount of pain, that he was practically asking to be tricked.

He took quick steps down the stairs, heading towards the galley. He could hear some people chatting down there, he assumed they would be Rathur, Sheera, and Karneth. Though from the sound of it, Karneth wasn't saying much as per normal. He tried to think about what he had planned for when they reached Eisenwelt. "I'll have to contact this Sabrina make sure that she doesn't have it in for me. Then hopefully land and we can work on a deal towards a profitable end. I had best keep Nothy and the rest of the crew aboard my vessel until I can be sure of the safety of visiting this planet."

He smiled as he listened to Sheera and Rathur begin to reenact one of the combat scenarios they had been in. Of course Karneth had heard them many times over, but he was always patient and willing to hear them again. When Corruck entered the room, he noticed that Rathur and Karneth were seated at a preparation table, while Sheera was over at the food station. He couldn't see Nothy, until she jumped from behind Corruck and scrambled over to take her place at the table. She listened in rapt attention to Rathur as he spoke about a fictional hyperspace jump right into an enemy fleet. He made it up just for Nothy, he knew what she enjoyed listening to.

He remembered that he had already sent a message ahead of them to let Sabrina know ahead of time that they were coming. Corruck hoped that the message would be received and that there would be no hostilities involved until negotiations could begin. He remembered the message was to the effect that Corruck was coming to talk about business and hopefully they would come to an agreement that would be beneficial to both parties involved.

She received word, that she was to expect a visitor called [member="Corruck Kazen"]. She was not sure who he was, but she was interested in making her new company more profitable. As her last was state run company, know been taken over by two other sith. She wonder if they have same drive, to create new technology as she did. Though this mattered not know, she was after a new contracts. Anything what help her arm the phoenix order, and turn a profit while she was doing so.

She waited for him, in her penthouse suite, it was high above the smog of the planet. Up here the air was almost clean, and she could see the sun and stars. She had one servants, open up drinks cabinet for her guest to arrive. She also got some lite bites made as well. Though she had no idea what the man liked.

Corruck felt the ship revert to realspace. He could never truly get used to that feeling, but then he didn't often live aboard the ship for more than a few weeks. He sometimes envied the rest of his crew, they never had trouble with entry or exit from hyperspace, simply because they pretty much lived aboard the vessel for the last year or so. He heard a chirp from the computer letting them know they had reached their destination and that landing procedures would begin soon.

It turned out that finding a landing space was not as difficult as Corruck had feared, apparently the planet was covered in enough smoke and smog that buildings above it were easy to spot. The Recalcitrant had landed on the hill, dropped Corruck off, and the sealed all entrances in case of an attack. Corruck was sure to take the necessary measures to provide safety for his people.

As he approached the suite, he took a moment to appreciate the view. High up, the building had a fairly nice view of the surrounding areas....that was if there was less smog below. He found the setting to be beautiful yet very disturbing. He had never seen such damage done to a planet before. He hadn't truly thought of what could happen to a planet when it was made into a production center.

He knocked at the door with his right hand, while checking his pocket to make sure his comm and blaster were in there. He had a bottle of wine, he had heard this woman enjoyed her wine, in his right hand. He had had to spend some time figuring which wine to bring. He had a decent collection in his ship, hidden away for the proper occasion. The wine he had was red, he didn't know from which planet as the tag had all but been smudged into non-existence.

Her servant opened the door to man, and gave slight bow. She did not like bowing to people, as it was beneath her as native of planet. Though she did anyway, as Dux Kotass liked people to bow. What sort name was Dux anyway, she wonder to herself. She was told it was title of her order, she wonder what she had done to earn the title. All she knew of the woman, was she was rich and could pay premium. She also paid better than natives, then again so she should to do business here. She then held out her arm, to take the wine from the man. I will put that on the table sir, and let it breath for a bit. You can see Dux Kotass in lounge sir, she been waiting for you. She then walked to lounge, and showed him the couch where he could sit. Then uncorked the wine, so it could breath and then left the room. Though not far incase they wanted anything.

Sabrina then turned to man, and asked a simple yet purtant question So what do I owe the honour of your visit corruck? She wanted to get down to business end this conversation, as quickly as possible. As after that she could relax, and see what the man actually thought.

Corruck smiled, no time wasted he already like the woman just for that. He stayed standing, to continue with a politeness he felt should go with the current stage in their conversations.

"The honor is mine, Dux," He almost caught himself calling her by a different name. He filed away the name difference for future reference. "My visit is mostly for business. My company, ReCal, is going through some difficulty while it is upgrading. I am planning to expand and make trades and what not with other factions and companies. I came to ask if you would like to trade products, materials, and/or personnel."

He waited to see her response, unsure of how this would come across to a person he did not know. He hoped that she would be willing to negotiate, he had weapons and materials that he had nowhere to put and was planning on trading for materials and/or credits.

She listened to [member="Corruck Kazen"], and asked simply and in a business type manner Tell me about your company, and we see where we can make a deal. She knew very little about his company, and wanted to make sure they could help each other. As there was no point in trying till to make deal, until they knew there was something they both wanted. As after all the lawyers fees, drawing up a contract would be high enough.

"ReCal was formed less than a standard galactic year ago, at that time it was run aboard my ship the Recalcitrant. Since then it has been moved to a base on Praesitlyn. We originally were building simple tech, like scopes and small arms. Now we are working towards armors and larger weaponry. Eventually our intent is to also begin a starship manufacturing area as well. However that will be quite some time away in the future. We are working on a new type of armor based on an older type." He spoke with strength, however he kept from mentioning further his goals. He had little to hide, it was simply that he had many plans and it would take years to reach and claim them all.

Interesting, I think there are things we could do in partnership. She then sat down opposite him, and took a sip of the wine. She then explained, what she thinks he could do for her. Well I am in the business of making new ship tech, and ships. Also I am trying to arm an new order of force users. So do you make guidance systems, for missiles? She was currently looking into, making an anti matter torpedo. This would be used on her bombers and elite fighters, also possibly later used on some ground based unit`s.

Corruck thought for a moment, in fact his company had never made guidance systems. They could probably, but they hadn't before. He has some good people behind the company and he bet they could come up with something like that. "It would be a first but we could make something like that. What sort of missiles were you thinking?" He pulled out a datapad and began typing the ideas that came to mind. He would have to show the scientists what was needed, then they could make it as required.

She smiled and then said simply and polity The most destructive force known to man, other than force it self, it is anti matter. She knew the power of this, small yields can be devastating. The plan was to get into place, thing perfect her first torpedo.

Corruck thought for a moment, he had known little about anti-matter, aside from the fact that it was incredibly powerful. He typed that down on the datapad, it would be interesting to see what the scientists would think of that. "So a torpedo that uses Anti-matter as the explosive. That would be quite a jump from Proton to Anti-matter. You already have scientists working on these?"

Maybe this would be a most interesting deal, both may come out ahead. He was enjoying himself, so he took a seat on the couch making sure to always be ready to move if it was required.

She laughed quietly, They already exist, I made them for the one sith. I have stock of them used for capital ships, they are quite destructive. I intend to perfect them, for my new order. She hoped to use these weapons to drive back the sith, she wanted guide version of them. She need a mass production plant, to be in outer space for it though. As that was safest place to make them.

"Well, if I can get the specs on these torpedoes, my scientists should be more than able to deal with the creation of a guidance system. Is that possible?" He clicked a few more things into the datapad and then looked up. He hadn't expected that such weapons existed, thought he was not too surprised. He wished he could work with some of those weapons, but he would avoid bringing that up during their conversations.

You only need casing design, not the warhead design. As that is secret, only I and krayt industries know. She then hands over a copy of the torpedos casing to the man, so he could study it. The firing mechanism, and how the anti-matter is stored on the torpedo was omitted. This was due to reasonable security protocols, as she did not want to give away her company secret.

"That will do nicely." He begins inputting the information onto his datapad. His fingers moved deftly over the little device as he makes quick note of the designs. They appeared to be a most interesting and probably effective missile. Within moments all the information he needed to send immediately was transferred; he sent the information back to his ship and slipped both the datapad and the designs into his pocket.

"Is there anything else you would like to discuss or would you prefer to move to a light meal?" He asked, thinking through the potential uses of such a missile. In all truth, his mind wasn't to concerned about the weaponry, but it kept his mind from wandering. He tried jumping to a different line of thought, he hoped the wine he had brought would go well with the meal. He also wondered if he had missed any of the really good wines in his hold or if he had passed them over intentionally, he often forgot such little details as that.

I will have light meal, as I think we discussed everything for now. There was a few formalities to be taken care of yet, like a contract. How much he wants for this, how long it will take him to deliver the parts. Also where he was going to manufacture the parts, as this would add to her costs. Though these things are best worked out by middle men, as she employed enough of them, though this was mostly to keep the local government happy. The food arrived he had steak, chips and some vegetables. The was also some diana sauce, in a pot to pour it on if he wished. She had a light salad, and ham with some echani dressing drizzled over it.

Corruck poured a small amount of the diana sauce onto the steak, allowing it to settle into steaks surface. He started on the vegetables, as was normal for him. He was glad for the more sophisticated company for this meal, as the last meal he had had in company had been with a number of people after a long days work. At that time, the courtesies and manners that most people used had been thrown out the window as they were all hungry and wanted to eat. In this environment he found a pleasure in eating, rather than it simply being a necessity that he disdained having to worry about.

"This areas seems to be quite a beautiful area to live in. Do you enjoy yourself up here?" He asked, keeping his tone level with a fair portion of question and just a drop of concern. When in circumstance like these, he often tried to be as polite as possible and to have almost complete control over his voice and its tones.

More than I would living down there, down there below smog cloud was an awful place to be. Yet the natives hated her more, than people who made the planet this way. As they thought they were better than her, yes she need them. She had to pay them more, as result of all this. Though she did plan to move her company later, once she has got more established. When her new order revelales is self, and when they have part of the galaxy to call their own.

"That is good. Have you thought of changing locale? There are some superior planets in the galaxy for their scenery." He got the feeling from how she talked that she was not very much welcomed here. He knew the feeling to some degree, he had had been running across the galaxy and knew which areas tended to be more stranger friendly than others. He had noted on his journeys that highly industrialized planets tended to have more distinction between native and stranger, one of the many bits of data that he had accumulated over the years.

He had the strange feeling that there was more to her statement. He couldn't really trust that feeling, but it hardly mattered. He couldn't force information out of this one even if he wanted, and he didn't, not in these circumstances.

I will with any luck somewhere down the road, but for now its the best place to start. As they have major infrastructure networks, all goods I need to build ships. It`s all so a good place to export from, with the fringe to north and omega protectorate to south. Then theres the embattled republic, just on my doorstep. She explained why she started on this miserable little planet, it was all about location location location.
