Iron Crown Enterprises

Corporation Name: Iron Crown Enterprises

Headquarters: Annaj.
 • Annaj is the former headquarters of the Fringe Confederation and a major regional trade hub, connecting with several significant hyperroutes. Iron Crown’s Annaj shipyard is the former primary shipyard of the Fringe. Annaj is also a regional distribution hub for Silk Holdings, Santhe/Sienar, and other large corporations.

Locations:
 • Xal 3 - This planet was an early Iron Crown base of operations, centered on arms manufacturing.
 • Verkuyl - This planet is one of the galaxy’s two producers of bacta, production which is controlled by Silk Holdings. Iron Crown has extensive transportation, trade facilitation, and bacta-related equipment facilities in the Verkuyl system.
 • Ssi-Ruuvi Star Cluster - Iron Crown owns and runs the planetary-scale Lwhekk shipyards, formerly the primary yards of the Ssi-Ruuvi Imperium.

Operations: Shipbuilding, Unknown Regions trade facilitation, starship components, spacer equipment, weapons, bacta-related equipment, design production rights broker, investment (ICE used to own the Intergalactic Banking Clan).

Rationale: Iron Crown has had a turbulent past. It started life as a Fringe Confederation parastatal, was expanded by Rave Merrill as a partner company to Akure Executive Interstellar, and was part of the Ty’rel/Saiba conglomerate for a time. Iron Crown is currently 85% owned by the Foundation Trust, a body of shifting membership and shadowy purpose. The Foundation Trust, in secret, comprises individuals of various affiliations or none at all. Its intent is to prepare the galaxy in various ways for a potential second Dark Age. This purpose colors several of Iron Crown’s operations. The remaining minority share (15%) is held by Darell Irani. Irani also retained the right to buy out the Foundation Trust if it becomes defunct, limited by certain thresholds.

Tier: 6

Description: Iron Crown Enterprises, under a variety of brand names, owns stakes in most of the galaxy’s shipyards. ICE started as a parastatal conglomerate, a state-owned holding and managing company which the Lords of the Fringe used to control their shipyards at Annaj, Rakata Beta, and Lwhekk, the largest and most experienced shipyards in Wild Space or the Unknown Regions.

Since then, it has constructed virtually every Fringe military vessel, at all scales, and has a near-unity market share in the Unknown Regions starship business. It has dozens of trading partners, a network nearly unparalleled in the Unknown Regions. In terms of galactic business, its focus is fourfold.

First, ICE is a primary gateway to the technologies and trade goods of the Unknown Regions, in both directions. It works closely with Akure Executive Interstellar. Trade facilitation takes many forms, including trade cruises and negotiation/guide services, as well as utilization of the Silk HALCYON network. Second, ICE prioritizes the starship components and accessories market, selling to individuals as well as shipbuilding corporations. This market includes after-market starship modifications, before-market components, space suits and associated gear. Third, ICE -- having acquired the blueprints and/or production rights for many, many starships over the course of its existence -- situates itself as a broker and merchant of blueprints and production rights. Fourth, as mentioned, ICE owns more major shipyards than just about anyone. ICE generally prefers to keep a low profile, owning these facilities through holding companies, subsidiaries, and local brand names.

ICE also retains unmatched expertise in cloaking devices, primarily stygium-based, and produces high-grade stealth add-ons like gravitic modulators and thrust trace dampers.

During the early years of the One Sith and the waning of the Fringe Confederation, a goodly number of ICE assets -- yards, skilled personnel, etc. -- were redistributed in order to kick-start One Sith yards. This took place under the aegis of Darell Irani and Apex Industries. As part of the Foundation Trust's purchase of a supermajority, these assets were returned to the ownership of Iron Crown, along with ownership of the Apex subsidiary and all its yards. For political reasons, however, Irani remained the front man for the Apex brand.

Subsidiaries:
 • Apex Incorporated (Tier 3) - Locations publicly fronted by Darell Irani while under One Sith control.
 • Iron Crown Armories - A longstanding brand name associated with the personal weapons produced by ICE.

Company: Iron Crown
Modification Made: Tier upgrade and change of ownership.
Rationale: Lotta things got done since ICE got made, and I bought the joint.

Supporting Misc Threads

These are threads that were linked to ICE and its subsidiaries' acquisitions of territory during the Irani administration. They were used to kickstart the Apex subsidiary for a T3 start. Not sure if that's considered valid for parent company tier advancement, but since Apex is folding into ICE, I felt I should include them.
