Barragh Nenn
Imperial Hand
SPECIAL FEATURES
- Creates an artificial localized version of an event horizon that creates a positive curvature gradient outward up to a range of 1200km.
- Affects Ships traveling in Hyperspace, Sub-Hyperspace and Otherspace
- Acts as the opposite of an Interdiction Field denying entry to an area of space from the outside via Hyperspace, Sub-Hyperspace or Otherspace forcibly ripping or shunting them back in gradient reality dependent on their current status.
- ACCESS DENIED: An area affected by an Inverted Horizon Projector essentially creates a artificial event horizon that pushes matter attempting to enter it away rather than drawing it inwards. This denies entry via Hyperspace or Sub-Hyperspace effectively shunting spacecraft not already inside the event horizon into real space of forcing them to approach at range rather than allowing them to jump in. In effect this can negate the element of surprise in naval engagements, create hardship during planetary of system sieges and close down the hyperlanes leading into a given system.
- IT'S RIPPING US APART!: Otherspace, the Netherworld by its very nature does not follow the same quantum dynamics as realspace or even hyperspace. When an Inverted Horizon Projector is activated ships attempting to transition from Otherspace to Realspace are placed under an enormous amount of pressure the closer they are to the epicenter. Unlike ships traveling via Hyperspace or Sub-Hyperspace that are merely 'shunted' back into realspace craft that attempt to enter via Otherspace risk being torn apart as direct pressure is placed on their super structures as they cross the threshold. At best this usually equates to severe structural and systems damage, at worst the ship is completely torn apart. Curiously larger ships are affected more severely, smaller craft less severely.
- WAIT, WHERE ARE YOU GOING!? DON'T RUN!: By its very nature the positive curvature gradient that is created by the artificial event horizon makes it easier for spacecraft to leave. Any ship attempting to flee the battlefield via hyperspace or sub-hyperspace, not otherspace, will find it easier to do so as the act of traveling away will be expedited, the nature of the inverted event horizon literally pushing them towards its borders like a tsunami. This might also help allied forces in a losing engagement though.
- NONDIFFERENTIAL: Once the Inverted Horizon Project is switched on it does not differentiate between friend and foe, there is no special code to grant access to the area that it creates and so it can effect allied reinforcements as well as enemies. Therefore it is advisable that all allied fleets are present prior to activation lest one be left out of reach and at its own disadvantage because of it.
- POWER SINK: Due to the large power requirements of an Inverted Horizon Projector it can only be equipped on the largest spacecraft, four thousand (4000) meters or larger. It could theoretically be integrated into a Star-Destroyer sized vessel but such a ship would need to be specialized and outfitted with an extremely potent power core. Cruisers, Frigates and Corvettes are not large enough nor do they generally have the capacity to integrate one of these devices.
Following the incursion of the Sith and Mandalorians on Tion which lead to the destruction of the shipyards there and the defeat of Imperial Remnant forces Barragh Nenn, studying the battle and the fleets involved concluded that interdiction had become far more weaponized than in the past. It presented an obstacle that could tie a fleet to a naval engagement, it was a snare that could be used to set a trap and close an ambush. It could tip the scales, especially towards the larger galactic polities.
The Imperial Confederation had given up ground, folding back in on itself to Fortress Worlds. It couldn't face the mass of fleets that the larger empires commanded. How then to tip the scales of battle?
Challenging the Scientists under his personal umbrella of influence the Inverted Horizon Projector was born.
Using White Hole theory as a basis to build around alongside hyperspace manipulation and gravity well theories the scientists created an inverted event horizon that prohibited the entry of matter not already inside of its area of effect via the hyperlanes and otherspace. Anything operating outside the normal threshold of realspace was shunted back at the border of the projection, anything that tried to enter realspace from otherspace was usually ripped apart. It was dangerous and expensive but it had its applications.
At its heart an Inverted Horizon Projector is just another tool to control the battlefield. It is the opposite of the Interdiction Field; where Interdiction makes it more difficult to escape the battlefield an Inverted Horizon makes it more difficult to enter one.
