If and only if you are just changing the blade, yes sure. I don't see a reason why not.
If it's more custom than that, you'll need to get to fifty posts, and make a submission to the factory in the tech section.

The way i understood it, if its a cosmetic thing mostly for just appearances it would be allowed. The only time a factory submission is required if it has some sort of special effect outside of what is considered the norm. Case in point, there are lightsaber cane swords as well as double blade designs, which function as 'lightsabers' but the mere difference is just the look. Hope this helps.
