Private Intrigue of the Royals

There were a lot of ways to end up on the bounty board. Robbery, piracy, and murder were all very common ways for scum to end up on the galaxy's long list of wanted targets. What was much rarer was finding some one with a non-violent streak on the hit list. That was the case with Princess Amaru Lunessa of the Galacian royal family. Her crimes? Standing against the status quo and attempting political reforms. Her dream being to see an end to the monarchy that gripped Gala for centuries, and replace it with a senate that would mimic the Galactic Alliance.

A king's ransom was on the table for anyone who brought in Amaru, or her corpse. Soon everyone from assassins to bounty hunters would descend on the coastal city of Tiphon to claim their prize. The trouble would be in locating the princess, who had taken to the underground for sanctuary. There was no easy way to smoke some one out in such a sprawling metropolis. If someone went to ground, it could be weeks for them to be seen again. Especially if they were as rich and well connected as a planetary royal.

Tibera knew this, and had this arrived in Tiphon as quickly as they could. So far they hadn't heard of any bounty hunters poking around for clues on the princess's whereabouts. Maybe they'd gotten lucky for once and come in far ahead of the competition. That would be a nice reprieve, hell, at least this planet was warm.

Many days of shaking trees paid off for the Mercenary. They were told of an anti-monarchist meeting that would be happening soon. If there was any place Amaru would risk showing her face, it would be there. That being said, finding out about the meeting would be the easy part. It would be much harder to sneak into the meeting to nab up the pale blue princess. Not like Tibera could sneak in with all of their equipment and armor unnoticed. Besides that, there'd probably be at least a few people at the meeting with the same idea.

Still, this was the best idea Tibetan had. Just smash up the place and hope for the best...

The meeting place was easy enough to find for someone who knew what they were looking for. An old seedy bar in the slums of the planet's second city. The capitol was too easy, but their second city, the business capitol, was easy place for revolutionaries to gather.

He watched from the back of the bar, trying to keep himself quiet and unnoticed. Quite hard for a mando, but in the crowd that watched the princess speak, it wasn't as hard as you'd think. A woman such as her could keep the attention of a crowd better than he ever could. Natural leader, that dame. If only she had the balls for combat.

The seasoned vet knew better than to get distracted by pretty words though. His thermals watched the crowd, looking for anyone willing to blow themselves away as well as everyone else in the room, looking for anyone outside the bar carrying a blaster of a slugthrower. Whatever the case, whatever came, he'd be ready.

A dive bar may have, in retrospect, been a rather poor location for a political rally. As it just so happened many of the new blood bounty hunters would be there. Though it did attest to the level of fearlessness present in Amaru. She didn't care about bounty hunters or the authorities catching her. Every movement needed a martyr, she'd been told. If that was to be her role, then so be it. Thankfully there were those around her willing to protect Amaru from the various flavors of scum that currently infested Tiphon.

"My deepest thanks to all of you who have gathered here to hear me speak. For too long our people have been divided by my family! To have our kind split between those who have and those who want! We must unite to push the bootheel of royal oppression off of our collective throats!"

Amaru spoke passionately to the small crowd of native Galacians. Most of whom were starting to listen in more intently. They didn't have any love for royals, but something about the way she spoke stirred them Perhaps this royal was different from the rest. Outside of the bar, high atop one of the buildings, there was a droid. It was painted a deep bloody red and holding a high powered blaster rifle. In his sights was Princess Amaru, her pale blue face filling up the center of his crosshair. In the middle of Amaru's speech, a blaster shot rang out, the hellish red bolt of plasma searing the air around it. With some degree of luck, one of Amaru's guards dove to knock her to the ground. The blaster bolt burning through the floor behind her.

That blaster bolt was like a starting pistol, a commencement of the hunt. Something Tibera was rightly afraid of. The bounty hunters soon made themselves known inside and outside of the bar. There had to be dozens of them, some working in groups and others alone. Blades, blasters, and slugthrowers were all accounted for. Then there was the spikey armored merc in the middle of the bounty hunters, they had a choice to make. The safe play was to get out and try to salvage something out of this operation. The most lucrative option was to fight to the second floor of the bar and try to scoop up the princess. Credits were always the best tiebreaker.

So, the mercenary started punching and kicking their way through the brawling bounty hunters. It was best if the hunters made it home alive, best not to get on the wrong side of the guild.

Busting his way through the crowd was an easy task for the Mando. Not a lot of folks had the ability to stop a charging bull, nor a charging mando. And those who tried were met with trench shovel to the face. He'd grab the princess pretty quickly that way. Now he needed to get out of here. Find some way to get her to safety. Her guards could wait. She just needed to be gotten out of there.

"You'll be fine Miss. I'm here to help." He said simply as he wisked the woman away, smashing through the crowd.
