Hello all! Looking for threads?
So, on my old star wars site, we had a group that was dedicated to generating threads, called the Adventures Guild (original, right?). The idea was that the "staff" of the group wrote NPCs, created scenarios, even rolled on a table for 'surprises' that could influence the story at set times (Nebula! Broken hyperdrive! Reinforcements? Whoah the baddie actually escaped!? The spy reveals himself!).
They were really dynamic in that anyone (regardless of faction, force ability, etc) could hop into them; if you wanted something quick and easy just for some threads, you just looked at what events were available, and hopped on in. If you wanted a short story, you could just do the one thread with the npc, while if you wanted a longer more developed story, you just Rped multiple times with an NPC and the story evolved from there.
It was really interesting because the scenarios would evolve depending on how writers engaged with the story points; we had a simple cargo run become so popular that it turned into its own pirate ship, a Moff who eventually led a planetary rebellion, all kinds of shenanigans.
So I guess my question is, is there any interest for that here on Chaos? Things have always been pretty factiony here, and it occurred to me that maybe something a little more relaxed might be really popular. Or, maybe the idea is redundant. Let me know and put in your two cents.
