Private Injured Pride

“True humanity lies in survival understanding."

Injured Pride

Hava'ssi clutched to his side as he dragged himself across the desert. The only thing that he was thankful for right now was his night-vision. Everything else was pulsing and horrible. His ship had crashed, his mission had failed, and now he was so desperate for credits that he foolishly agreed to be a bounty hunter...the very group of people he hated. Of course, he stated that his name was Vivo Clemen to his hirer so that he would remain unknown.

He limped and glanced down at his claws, which were covered in blood. He squinted, and in the distance he saw a fire... and someone sitting by it. A hooded person.

He began limping faster towards the light. He knew he was going to die if he didn't take this chance.

I love the way the sparks flew up in the air as air pressure caused by the heat in the wood caused it to snap. I love the smell of the wood burning, even though at times the smoke would hurt my eyes. And there was something calming about the way the flames themselves moved. In some ways they were lifelike; consuming the wood for food that made them grow. But their life cycle is short. Like all living things; once their food source was gone; their lives dwindled to a common end.

There is a certain meditative quality to sitting by a fire. And I cherish every moment of it.

I watched another spark drift upwards into the air until it burned itself out. But my moment of peace fell away very quickly. A figure approached in the darkness; surprising me so much that I fell backwards off of the log. A startled shriek escaped my lips that I could not hold back. I lay there for a moment to gather myself and then clambered to my feet to look upon the person that intruded my space uninvited. But it was then that I noticed that he was injured.

"I .... I ..... Are you all right?" It was stupid for me to ask, but I am not always very bright. Especially when I am a little scared.

He stared at her for a second, panting. She was a very young, but there was a certain fear in her clear eyes that clutched his heart, a feeling that he had not had in a long time...

Was her fear caused by him, or was it from within her soul?

"Please, I need assistance. My-side." He fell down on the sand beside the fire, letting go of his side and letting the fluid from his wound flow freely.

Blood. And plenty of it. I saw it the moment that he had collapsed beside the fire. And shortly thereafter I began to feel faint. "No. Stop. Focus." I turned my concentration inward and began to recite the steps of what I was doing in my mind in a bid to try to keep myself conscious. Afterall it'd do little to have us both knocked out on the ground.

I took hold of my satchel and brought out my little medkit. Gauze was the first thing that I grabbed after opening it, and quickly I made my way to him and placed it on top of the wound. I adverted my eyes away from it, and then closed them while I tapped into the Force energies that surrounded us and flowed through us. The wound itself felt angry and cold as the heat escaped from it and onto the sand. I needed to fix that. But not before looking deeper. I sent a part of my essence through me and into the wound so that I could see the damage that was done. Skin, muscle and thin veins were cut, while internal organs were thankfully intact. So without hesitation I began the repair work, carefully correcting and mending the tissues as I had been taught; guiding the cells to their rightful places and rejoining them together.

How long did the process take? I do not know. But I was able to complete the task well enough. I did not have the energy to make it as good as new, so some bruising of the muscle and skin persisted. Perhaps if I was more powerful, I'd of been better at it. But at least I can be happy with not fainting.

I reopened my eyes and removed my hooded robe before draping it over him. I also took out my spare one, folded it and placed it carefully under his head to be used as a pillow. Once I was assured that he appeared comfortable, I then brought out my bottle of water and set it at the log beside me where I then sat to await him waking up. It could be minutes, it could be hours. Either way I knew that it was common for patients to be thirsty after such trauma.
