ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Advanced Targeting Systems:

 • Automated Holotargeting - Automatic target lock that allows gun crews to better track and lead enemy vessels.
Advanced Sensor Systems:

 • Modified Sensors - The Inflictor bears modified sensors for scientific and intelligence analysis, sensors are a multi-directional and long range. Some of the sensors feedback into the advanced holotargeting systems.

 • Sensor Decoy - Launched from the hangars, a probe that acts as a decoy for enemy sensors giving the illusion of a larger vessel or a large group of smaller vessels depending on the probe’s programming prior to launch.
Advanced Defensive Systems:

 • Scramblers / Jammers - Equipped with an array of comm scramblers, sensor jammers of a various sort the Inflictor hopes to keep her opponents in the dark. Either by scrambling communication efforts, jamming sensor arrays or employing electronic countermeasures, disrupting HoloNet Relays. At best she makes it difficult for enemy vessels to do their jobs of getting a lock on her, sending out communications or running sensor scans.

 • Shields and Hull - Ion shields, shield boosters, and a reactive plating system help to keep the Inflictor in the fight. Anti-Ion Mesh in combination with de-Ionizers, cap drains and socket guards help the Inflictor against Ion/EMP based weapons. The reactive hull plating creates an equal distribution or dispersal of energy from energy based weapons. Reinforced hull helps enable the ship to withstand harder kinetic hits over a longer period of time than ships who are not utilizing a reinforced hull.
Advanced Weapon Systems:

 • Nova - An older Aurora Industries weapon, the Nova turbolaser system creates a scatter effect when firing this is caused by the beam splitters. The Nova unlike many Aurora weapons technology is not based on sianium power generators. Instead, the Nova utilizes beam splitter technology that allows the weapon to create six separate streams from a singular particle beam. From there the beams follow typical turbolaser protocols, such as being fed through energized Tibanna gas before moving through modified galven coils. The drawbacks of the Nova are that one, the Nova while maintaining the same strength as a standard turbolaser has its range cut in half as well as a slightly lower rate of fire.

 • Corona - Developed by Aurora Industries, the Corona hits three times harder than that of a standard turbolaser while maintaining the standard range and rate of fire. It does this by utilizing the sianium power generator, also developed by Aurora Industries. The drawbacks of the potential to overheat which can cause catastrophic results for those aboard.

 • Shortbow II - Developed by Primo Victorian Shipwright, the Shortbow Plasma Railguns are long-range weapons that focus on damage over time rather than a hard initial impact. A soft impact followed by ten seconds of damage to enemy shields which then require the Shortbows to cooldown for three minutes, in addition, the Shortbow runs the risk of blowback as well as overheating. The Shortbows are also quite vulnerable to ion damage which can not only cause them to shut down but may trigger catastrophic blowback or overheating.

 • Sagitta - Powered by a sianium power generator, the Sagitta is able to fire at a rate of 12 km/s a vast improvement over its original incarnation. Additionally, the Auroran Industries created mass driver cannon has an ammo core which makes reloading much easier. However, this is not without its drawbacks the Sagitta has a heavy recoil as a result of the improved rate of fire. It is also prone to rail degradation, rendering it inoperable until repairs are made.

 • Ovmar - Able to track and target multiple targets at once the Ovmar Defensive Missile System works with its own internal sensors. These sensors enable the Ovmar to track and target multiple targets such as starfighters or missiles. The missile system is also equipped with an automated reloading mechanism as well as an auto-lock firing mechanic that makes targeting a little bit easier for the gun crews. By default, the Ovmar fires nano missiles but can fire cluster, flechette, disruptor, ion pulse or ball bearing missiles. Drawbacks for this system include misfiring, overheating overall degradation of the missile system.
Strengths:

 • Offensive: A well rounded offensive ship capable of brawling or sniping, the heavy cruiser is able to fight effectively at long range, standard or short range.

 • Defensive: A strong defensive rating allows for the Inflictor to withstand most damage types in any given battle, more notably being able to withstand ion/emp weaponry for longer than perhaps the run-of-the-mill heavy cruiser.
Weaknesses:

 • Maneuverability: Lacks anything better than a very low maneuverability rating, leaving her open to smaller corvettes and the like who are able to weave in and out of her blindspots. This also means these smaller vessels can take advantage of their own speed when working around such a large and cumbersome vessel.

 • Vulnerabilities: While she does have a high defense and keeps ion/emp along with projectile weapons in mind, she is still vulnerable to hypervelocity rounds, gravity weapons and an overwhelming amount of ion/emp weapons. And while she may maintain an anti-sympathetic detonation mechanism these too can become vulnerable should ship systems go down or have otherwise been penetrated by high-impact rounds via kinetic based weapons.
Description:

The Inflictor III is a modern take on the now antiquated Inflictor and provides a little more versatility in its warhead launchers than its previous incarnation. In addition, the newest Inflictor carries versatility with its modular mine launchers allowing for Victorian Captains to choose the mines best suited for the situation at hand.

A well rounded all purpose cruiser with a little more emphasis on the long range as opposed to standard and short with the Stormcloud. The Inflictor also carries with it room for two squadrons allowing for the vessel to act as a soft carrier or transport when necessary. She also carries with her sensor decoy probes to throw potential enemies off course making her a fine addition to covert or intelligence operations in the hopes of luring opponents away from the targeted area/ship.

While the vessel possesses great offensive and defensive capabilities, the heavy cruiser does have its drawbacks. The first of which and perhaps most obvious is the very low maneuverability which leaves her vulnerable to smaller vessels who are more able to take advantage of blind spots presented by various firing arcs. It also means this takes the ship, time to come about to full broadside, longer than perhaps some of the other ships of her class. Other vulnerabilities present themselves through sympathetic detonation and projectile weaponry along with gravitational weapons.

Update: Refitted for the new Shortbow II Plasma Railguns, as wwell as the new Arietis turbolaser systems.

Note: Resubmitting with updated weaponry, please archive predecessor.
