The Indoctrination-class Frigate is a derivative of the Confederacy of Independent Systems' "Leviathan-class Frigate". As such, the vessel shares a great many traits in common with the original design. Primarily, the Indoctrination-class Frigate enjoys a rather thick and sturdy hull, characterized by several layers of durasteel and duranium that are poised to offer a great deal of overall protection to the ship. This measure is necessary for its role as an escort and patrol vessel; as oftentimes the Indoctrination-class Frigate will be dispatched with little more than a squadron or two of starfighters for backup when conducting basic, local escort missions between planets within Confederate space.
While such measures undoubtedly cause the ship to be much heavier than the average frigate, and thereby slower, the design team saw fit to compensate for this shortcoming through the incorporation of several engines and a moderately powerful reactor. Through this, the Indoctrination-class Frigate is capable of moving apace with other frigates of comparable size, but just barely.
Unlike its predecessor, the Indoctrination-class Frigate was not designed with space superiority and assault in mind. Instead, its role was that of an escort/patrol, as aforementioned, and also that of an interdictor. Due to this secondary role, the Indoctrination-class Frigate has been considered by some to be a support vessel of sorts as well; as its most effective employment of its interdiction equipment is to utilize it alongside an attack force of Confederate ships. Through this, the Indoctrination-class Frigate can pull unsuspecting vessels out of hyperspace and into a rather deadly ambush. It is noted that, in the spirit of cost-effectiveness on the part of the developing faction, only a single gravity-well projector, along with three trajactor beam projectors, hve been installed upon these ships. These come with the cost of lightening the original armament of its predecessor's original design in order to accommodate the placement of these weapons.
However, in spite of this, the Indoctrination-class Frigate is more than capable of defending itself from vessels of comparable size and below. It is effectively armed with a moderate assortment of turbolasers and ion cannons in order to achieve said defensive potential. Furthermore, it is complemented by a small squadron of assorted starfighters, whose specialties lie in the attainment and maintaining of space superiority, or the potential to damage larger, enemy vessels.
