SPECIAL FEATURES
- Footman Slot - While the droid is capable of operations on its own, an additional open slot is present. This slot can be utilized by a Footman Battledroid that is being controlled by a shard, as a means for the shard to take control of the larger battledroid.
Strengths:
- Sonic Cannon - A devastating weapon on any battlefield and the primary weapon of the Annihilator Droid. This underslung Sonic Cannon provides the droid with a weapon that truly marks it as a heavy support unit.
- Shield Generator - Each Annihilator droid is equipped with an internal shield generator. When active this personal shield protects the droid (while the droid is also able to fire out from the shield). However it is not capable of prolonged use, and is often better suited for deployment in its opening volley of fire before being pulled back to recharge its power cell.
Weaknesses:
- Shield Generator - The downside of its shield generator is that it is in effect an ineffectual design. While it is capable of maintaining a shield around the droid, it can not do so in the same length or frequency as seen in the older droideka or scorpenek droids utilized in the Clone Wars. This is due to the shield's rapid draining of its power cell, and thus all one need due it wait until its shields fall (that is if they've survived its initial attack).
- Multipedal Limbs - While capable of traversing most difficult terrains, and reminiscent of those often seen on AT-TEs during the Clone Wars; they are however a liability in some instances. This is mainly due in part to the simple fact that they are not as heavily armored as other parts of the droid (with the joins of the limbs being particularly vulnerable). Thus the droid can easily be brought down provided that it's limbs are targeted.
DESCRIPTION
Where as the Incursion Crawler is designed to subvert an enemy's position or bring down their fortifications from below, the Annihilator is designed to do just that. With its mounted Sonic Cannon, it is devastating against ground infantry, turning their internals to mush, or pounding into the ground to create debris and obstacles for enemy ground vehicles. Coupled with a pair of fire-linked heavy laser cannons, the Annihilator serves in its role of a heavy support unit.
Though that is not to say that it is without its downfalls, as often seen by how it can easily be brought down. Its limbs, while capable of carrying it over most difficult terrain, can be blow from the droid, thus rendering it vulnerable or otherwise disabled. Likewise, its shield drains much of its power, and during testing some droids have been noted as becoming disabled or otherwise immobile due to its power cell being drained.
Even with these problems, it is still greatly utilized by Incursion forces; even going so far as having a position in which a footman battle droid (or similar humanoid sized being) can take control of the droid and utilize it as a vehicle.
