SPECIAL FEATURES

Strengths:
  • Turbolasers: Sporting a pair of fearsome light turbolasers, the TIE/M is extremely well armed.
  • Tri Ion Engines: The TIE/M's three ion engines give it an immense boost of speed, even for a fighter of its size.
Weaknesses:
  • Deflector Shields: Recalling the glory days of Palpatine's empire, the TIE/M sacrifices deflector shields in order to meet the massive power requirement for its engines and turbo lasers.
  • Hyperdrive: The lack of hyperdrive leaves these superiority fighters reliant on a mothership for long distance travel and resupply.
Description:

The TIE/M aka TIE Mangler is a savage machine. Even two of these heavily armed fighters could spell disaster for a blockade runner. And while they lack hyperdrives or shields, the Manglers are more than capable of holding their own in a dogfight. The immense range of the light turbolasers compared to the laser cannons allows the Mangler to break up incoming enemy star fighter formations from a great distance.

Due to the expense of producing such a fighter, the Manglers are limited in number and only TIE pilots with advanced training are selected to fly them. One might think that due to the lack of deflector shields that pilots would be unenthusiastic about this fighter. However, many pilots relish the chance to wield the Mangler's destructive might.

This fighter is part of the 7th Fleet Initiative, which aims to furnish the Galactic Empire with a series of modern, combat ready fighters to better protect Imperial interests.

Capital weaponry is not acceptable on a starfighter, especially one at minor production. Change these to heavy laser cannons if you want heavy weaponry, but light turbolasers need to go. Your weaknesses do not balance these out.

The design and artwork are based on light turbolasers and it is the core of the design. As I see it there are two options:

Ultra Heavy Laser Cannons - on par with a single light turbolaser cannon from a corvette.

Or

Reduce this to Limited production

Thoughts?

Please drop to limited

Please drop armament to Very High - and remove
  • 3 Cockpit-Mounted Forward Fixed Laser Cannons
  • 4 Proton Torpedo Launchers (payload total of 4)
Do that and you can have your two wing mounted light turbolasers turrets.

Is the hyperdrive rating of “none” being counted? And how many points is it worth?
