SPECIAL FEATURES
- SORCE Cannons - all turbolasers utilize SORCE technology.
- Coverage: a number of well-situated emplacements allow the Kontos a decent field of fire on all sides.
- Shield Generator: featuring a generator dome in the ship's centerline, the Kontos' shields can withstand heavy punishment.
- Lag: poor mobility and speed leave the Kontos lagging behind other ships and capable of being out maneuvered.
- Fighter Screen: most of the Kontos' fighter complement is devoted to running protection on the AT-AT barges and troop shuttles. Consequently, they often are not free to protect the ship itself from enemy fighters.
Meant to provide a balanced assault frigate, capable of supplementing a strike group, the Kontos II sports numerous turreted weapons and a large troop complement. It can deploy these forces to the ground, or use them in boarding operations.
The hangar doors are on the port and starboard side of the Kontos' belly. The doors themselves are retractable, adding a layer of security.
This vessel is part of the 7th Fleet Initiative, which aims to furnish the Galactic Empire with a series of modern, combat ready warships to better protect Imperial interests.
Perhaps most noticeable about 7th Fleet Initiative designs is their incorporation of SORCE turbolasers, purchased from Silk Holdings. The SORCE model allows ships to consolidate their barrel count while maximizing energy output. Meaning that while 7th Fleet designs might sport fewer guns overall than contemporaries, their broadsides do no less damage.
