OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a pod for the spread of bio-weaponry used by the Empire.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Restricted Missions: N/A
  • Primary Source: N/A
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: Galactic Empire
  • Model: BP-1
  • Affiliation: Galactic Empire
  • Modularity: The virus loaded into this pod can be exchanged for another of the same build.

  • Production: Minor
  • Material: Durasteel, Plasteel, Glasteel, Red Shadow Virus
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Spreads the Red Shadow Virus over a very large radius.
Strengths:
  • Large Infection Radius: This pod is capable of spreading the Red Shadow Virus over a 500Km2
Weaknesses:
  • Undefendable: These pods have no defenses, minus a reinforced durasteel exterior to protect them whilst they enter the atmosphere.
  • No going back: Because these pods activate the virus within once launched, there is no way to effectively disarm them after being armed and launched.
DESCRIPTION
With the successful creation of the Red Shadow Virus, the Galactic Empire began looking into effective ways to deploy the virus. The answer, a rapid space deployment pod capable of spreading the virus over hundreds of Kilometers of land.

These pods were designed specifically to hold in this deadly disease. Hosted in the pod, in a liquid form, the Virus is rendered unweaponized until deployment. Launched from a properly outfitted Imperial ship, these reinforced pods will fly to a pre-targeted location. The moment they deploy from the ship, the virus inside will begin to weaponized itself into an airborne virus, effectively taking on the red hue that earned it the moniker Red Shadow Virus.

The pod itself will fly through the planet's atmosphere, generally reaching it's full infectious potential after clearing the planet's upper atmosphere. Once the upper spheres are breached and the pod has reached the lower atmosphere, it will begin to deliver it's payload. Panels all over the pod will open, beginning the release of the virus until the pod impacts the target area. The winds of the lower atmosphere can effectively carry the virus 500km away from the target zone, infecting every susceptible lifeform within the target area.

I used that number based off of a rough estimate of how large a largely populated city, like new York is. Since the goal is they be able to nearly contaminate an entire city (which In my mind star wars cities always seem to be a bit larger than modern ones) is that range appropriate?

If not, can I dial them down to limited production and maintain their range?

I have brought down the range to half the original range. I'd also like it to be kept in mind that the virus is not an instant effect weapon. Meaning it takes time for it to reach the full effect range, of a 500 square kilometer radius. Since it's carried around by the winds it seems fair to me. Please tell if I need more edits.
