SPECIAL FEATURES
- SORCE Cannons - all turbolasers utilize SORCE technology.
- 5 Refueling Arms
Strengths:
- Supply: The tanker can keep up with smaller ships and is meant to travel along with a task force for swift resupply.
- Combat: The tanker is no easy prey and can fend off a frigate or a few corvettes on its own, but should it face a warship of similar size it will need assistance from escorts.
Description: The Balfour tanker is a niche design, meant solely for inflight refueling, resupply, and repairs. It excels at performing these tasks while operating inside the relative safety of a task force and often forms the centerpiece around which imperial patrol forces are built.
This vessel is part of the 7th Fleet Initiative, which aims to furnish the Galactic Empire with a series of modern, combat ready warships to better protect Imperial interests.
Perhaps most noticeable about 7th Fleet Initiative designs is their incorporation of SORCE turbolasers, purchased from Silk Holdings. The SORCE model allows ships to consolidate their barrel count while maximizing energy output. Meaning that while 7th Fleet designs might sport fewer guns overall than contemporaries, their broadsides do no less damage.
