Imperial 181st

In Canon the 181st Fighter Wing was the Empire's, and later Imperial Remnant's, elite fighter squadrons. They were essentially the Imperial Rogue and Wraith Squadrons. Some notable pilots of the 181st included Soontir Fel and Gunn Yage.

Now there were attempts to start up the Wraith Squadron group for the Republic, which would act as an elite fighter squadron and commando unit like in canon. Its current status is a bit on the unknown side for the moment. However it is known for sure that the Rebel Alliance has a functioning Rogue Squadron.

I was thinking it would be a great idea to spark more interest for these kinds of groups and decided to make an attempt at a commando/squadron unit for the new Imperial Remnant too, using the 181st (also known as Skull Squadron) as our tagline. We'd be using Elite TIE Fighters/Interceptors to engage enemies in space, likely wiping out a number of their fighters before strafing one of their frigates for example, before heading groundside during relevant invasions, dominions, and skirmishes, and then putting on elite trooper armor to engaged enemy units as a group and focus on objectives.

So if anyone out there wants to make an Imperial soldier, likes flying, and likes commandos, how about joining up with the Remnant and making a 181st character! We're looking for 12 people for sure. And if it grow we could expand the unit into the full wing. There's already 4 characters in the group so there's 8 slots left! Anyone want in? Maybe someday we could have nice run ins with other factions groups like the Wraiths or Rogues.

I believe that our commando armor should have customization, instead of being terrain specific, I have an avatar that I will be using when my squad, and I become a special operations unit down the road . This would be imperative for everyone, for instance we could keep the design of the black model, but allow it to be customized with extra attachments and colors.

That sounds perfectly reasonable. We can't overdo it though, gotta be reasonable, what sorts were you thinking? I was thinking armor itself is like that as are a few helmets. That way we can have people with the scout helmet if they're the sniper/recon (zoom/better night/heat vision) instead of commando infantry/demo/medic (better protection/more versatile display).

It'd be cool if you joined up with us Alpha! Then we'd have a total of 7 members. We could almost split into 2 squads for invasions and such!

We could to develop the 181st armor, asking the opinion of a common soldier for what features would make a better armor. And then having him try it out.

*wink*

Oh my, someone certainly seems interesting. Tell me how your philosophy is outside the Sith? Of course this is off the record seeing as we aren't fully IC.

Her philosophy outside the Sith is the same within; she follows the man with the biggest cheque.

Alright I'll have one up soon. We'll have to do the submission and hold onto the thread afterwards for when the tech forum returns.

Good enough for me unless you opt to turn on a bribe. In which case we'll shoot down your fighter or shoot you in the back before you can turn on us. . . . hopefully. . . .

Bribes have never been taken. You're buying not only her skills, but her loyalty.

I believe we should also be able to add different plating onto the original base of the armor, allowing for people to have different types of modifications for their armor. For instance the base part of the armor is very light, but more mobile, with the ability to have different technologies added. But if say, I wanted to go the heavy trooper route, I could add more standard plate for the armor, sacrificing more technology slots instead for better protection. These would be the two extremes, I also think their should be a medium setting were one can attach enough plating to provide decent protection, while having slightly more technology slots to play with. Technology slots would be, more storage, wrist blasters, retractable blades like in star wars commando, com radio, holo-projector, things such as these and what not. The possibilities would be endless, and truly have customization, It would require a huge development thread, and campaigning just to make sure its not overpowered, but you would have help and support, such as me. I believe the weaknesses should be rather simple, the more protection you get, the slower you become, and the less toys you have to battle enemies with; While the more toys you get, the less protection you have when you get hit. Pm me for more on this topic.
