"Oh, don't worry. I won't tell that witch a damn thing."

The confirmation that he was seeking training sent a little thrill through her. But then she frowned. "You seem really conflicted about where you want to be. Only a couple minutes ago you said you just wanted to go home, now you say you're not ready to go back yet. So which is it?"

"I'm ready to go back, I am excited to see my Uncles, I just don't want to see her, or the others." And who could blame him?
"I want Mercuitie, not the rest of it." Maybe that was unfair of him to say to his sister, to say he wanted nothing to do with their family right now, but it was the truth.
He could only hope he could figure out a way to have both his Uncles and his training.

Eloise didn’t care if he didn’t want to see their family anymore. Nor did she take it personally that he didn’t want anything to do with her.

Mercuitie is screwed up too,” she pointed out. “Maybe not as much as Arboria, but your uncles are complicit in the lie. You’re not the only one they’ve deceived.

No doubt his feelings on it all were complicated. She understood that better than anyone. But she wouldn’t let Darien and Theryn slide just because they weren’t as evil as her parents. Besides, it was better for them both if Starlin stuck with the Jedi. And not just because she didn’t want to be alone on the good guys’ team.

"Yeah but they never yelled or hurt me" he said, with a slight scowl, "They didn't drink like mum and say nasty things, or leave me behind like dad." Starlin wasn't stupid, there was plenty the Galaxy had opened his eyes to, plenty to be upset with Dari and Theryn over too, but the difference was he actually had a connection with his Uncles.
There was something worth fighting to mend.
The rest? Well, he supposed it wasn't their fault he felt nothing. That was dad's fault.
But it didn't change reality.

Starlin huffed.
"Uncle Darien kept them from fighting" he said, "They were at war and killing each other all the time, and he made it so they were cooperative and at peace. I don't know the gritty details, because no they didn't tell me about it, but I know that it was good and safe and happy inside the city. I saw inside and outside myself."
He pushed away from the doorframe, taking a step back.
"I'm not going to apologize for loving them, for wanting to go back to them, they raised me and they care."

Eloise’s lip curled in disgust. I reunite with my long lost brother and it turns out he’s a colonialist. Of fething course.

"Those savage Shaal and Zaathrians all just needed to be civilized, eh?" she said, sarcasm dripping from every word. "Your uncles brought them peace. So what if it cost them their freedom."

Ugh. Let Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el work on him. He had far more patience than she did. If anyone could knock some sense into an ignorant privileged dumbass monkey like Starlin, it was him.

She walked over to the navicomputer. “I’ll give you the coordinates to Zaathru so you can go there whenever you want." Her fingers flew across the keyboard, typing in the information rapidly. Clearly she was no stranger to the technology that was so foreign to him. "There. It's done." Turning to face him again, she hesitated. "We should try to keep in touch. Even if it's just for... safety."

He shook his head. "Uncle Darien didn't even want to be there, didn't even want the position, they pushed him into it. He just wanted to get back to his home, but he couldn't." Starlin had read the history books, heck he had spoken to the former Usul's who had come together to unite their tribes. "They have freedom, they have safety too." The boy crossed his arms. "There is only one of him and so many of them, it wouldn't work if they didn't want it to."
Darien hadn't brought weapons, he hadn't brought force, just logic and sense. That was how everything had been painted, what everyone had said, and how was Starlin to think or know any differently?
Then Eloise had changed the plans, no more traveling together just... here's the coordinates, good luck.
Not even a good luck.
"Fine" he said, crossing his arms. He stepped out of the way of the door so Eloise could leave when she pleased. "Don't know how I'm supposed to keep in touch if we're on other sides of the stars but, sure."
Starlin was exhausted, he wanted a proper home cooked meal, and a nice bath, and something comfortable to wear... mostly though, he wanted his uncles. They would know what to do. They always knew what to do.

"Uncle Darien didn't even want to be there, didn't even want the position, they pushed him into it. He just wanted to get back to his home, but he couldn't. They have freedom, they have safety too. There is only one of him and so many of them, it wouldn't work if they didn't want it to."

"Is that what they told you?" she sneered. "Both of them are skilled Force Users, Starlin. The balance of power is skewed in their favor, because the Shaal and the Zaathrians don't have the knowledge or training to match them. And do you think our mother never thought to offer them a ship and safe passage offworld? She wanted to get rid of them; that would've solved the problem. But Darien and Theryn chose to stay, chose to be part of the Pantheon - chose to keep masquerading as gods for the natives to fear and worship!"

She was raising her voice out of anger, not caring if it upset him. No sane or moral person could tolerate the Pantheon's bullshit, and she sure as hell wasn't going to let her little brother parrot that crap.

"Fine. Don't know how I'm supposed to keep in touch if we're on other sides of the stars but, sure."

"The ship has a built-in communications system that can reach across billions of light years. Though it might take a little while for your messages to reach me." She frowned, then gestured to the ship and its technology with a sweep of her hand. "You don't even know what most of this stuff is, do you? Did your 'uncles' not teach you about any of this?"

He balled up his fists and just glared at her for a moment, logic giving way to emotions. He was just a hormonal barely eighteen-year-old, after all, it didn't matter if he was technically classified as an adult it didn't make him one in the ways that mattered for this.
"Why would anyone believe mother meant them good will?" he asked, "Do you think mother would not hurt you if she got a chance? And you're her beloved daughter." Starlin's scowl deepened, and he found himself struggling to breathe.
"There was none of this back home" he said, "What was there to teach?" Starlin shook his head more firmly then. "Forget it, Eloise, why don't you just go? It's clear you don't want to be here, and I don't know what sort of safety you think you can bring. Your temper is as bad as hers." He turned from her to stare at the ruined captain's cabin again, then ran a hand up through his hair.
"Damnit, El." It was such a mess, and he didn't want her there long enough to be the one to fix it.
"Go back to your life where you are perfect."

His words struck a nerve, leaving her stinging. Eloise gritted her teeth, jaw clenching like a vice even as hot tears came unbidden, making her green eyes glisten in the pale glow of the navicomputer.

I was never her beloved daughter,” she spat. “But you must’ve been Daddy’s favorite. Why else would he have saved only you?

"Forget it, Eloise, why don't you just go? It's clear you don't want to be here, and I don't know what sort of safety you think you can bring. Your temper is as bad as hers."

Now he was just trying to hurt her. For a moment, she really wanted to hurt him back. But that would’ve just proved him right. “Shut up, brat,” she growled half-heartedly, turning to leave.

All that she had ever tried to do was tell the truth. Her intentions were good—and she paved the road to hell with them every damned time. Of course nobody ever listened to her. The truth was cold and harsh, and she had no love in her to soften it. There was only that ever-present anger, smoldering hot just beneath the surface, righteous but scorching.

As she left the Leviathan and Starlin behind, her thoughts turned to Zaathru. Taking time away from being Headmaster of the Vonnuvi after she was just promoted would be hard to justify, but she would find some excuse for her absence. Nor would she show up to Zaathru with a contingent of Jedi Masters, tempting as it was. Such activity would draw too much attention, too much suspicion from what was left of the Pantheon.

She would find her brother—her true brother, the boy she had grown up with—and get to the bottom of this bizarre mystery. And if she could, she would take the rest of her siblings with her when she left. She should’ve done it earlier, when they were still young, but better late than never.

Saved.
That word stuck out from the rest of them, and in the aftermath it left him silent and hollow. Her insult slid off him as a result, and he barely even realized that she was leaving until she was most of the way down the boarding ramp.
"Wait, how do I--"
Contact you...?
She was already gone before he could finish, leaving him stood in the hallway between boarding ramp and trashed captain's quarters. He was trembling, though he wasn't angry nor was he cold.
Finally, he turned and walked to the cockpit.
"Hey, Pluto," he said, deflated. "Bring me to Zaathru, please?"
<Yes, Mas-ter Star-lin>
And just like that, they were gone.
Thankfully Eloise had added in the work around to keep them from being blown to pieces upon reaching orbit... otherwise that would be a very bloody ending to Starlin Dinn.
