The pink-haired, cybernetic-heavy girl can be seen walking the hallway of the modest office building with strides slightly too fast for someone who claims to not fear any man.

Life has always been about making choices, and it will never be easy. Certainly not for Sona Mirio. Imagine climbing a spire you grew up dreaming about, admiring it from regrettable distance, and in the middle of the process, having the spire bombed into oblivion. That happened to the Tech-bird, both figuratively, and quite-almost literally.

You can’t help but learn to be suspicious of other spires, wary of other climbs, yet in Sona’s case, she quite-literally cannot afford to stay. Her gift made her a target.

So she flew ever-so far away. From the neon lights, the dream of every kid born in the underbelly of the Core, to abandoned stations and ghost towns, amongst spacers and rangers who love to crack crude jokes that would drove her old self to insanity. Yet they protect her like she’s one of them, and that’s the art of choice. A beggar can’t be choosers. Especially a beggar who still yearns to dream big.

If only the world was hers.

Or maybe it could be, as the so-called leader of the current outpost she’s residing in summoned her to the office.

Was it the good words her spacer friends had given after she help repair their heavily damaged ships and droids for the nth times?

Only time can answer.

Three days planetside and Aerin still had ‘sea’ legs from hyperjumping across Hutt Space. She’d docked at the nearest Ranger outpost after a puzzling salvage run and hung her hat up in an empty office without want or care. The only thing she longed for was good sleep in a real bed and food that didn’t need to be rehydrated with water before eating. Both had eluded her. Instead, Aerin’s amenities seemed to come in the form of administrative work on the good days and strategizing retaliation against the Sith on the bad ones. Vetting new recruits fell under the former, and there were a few impressive names in the stack for a change.

Pilots were always among those who were interested in the League, but good pilots were in short supply. Aerin thumbed through the dossiers, skimming names and faces from a dozen worlds that line both sides of the Blackwall. She thought of her homeworld, Kabal, for a fleeting moment, before her reminiscing was paused by an interesting face.

Hm?” Aerin studied the image of a woman, tracing lines of cybernetic implants with her eyes. “A Jedi?” Those were even harder to find than decent pilots, she mused. Lots of honorable mentions and good words passed along, plenty of evidence that she’s willing to lend a hand. Aerin smiled. “All you need’s a place to belong,” she said to the image. Then, she made the call, summoning one Sona Mirio to the office.

Soon after, pink hair and fancy chrome stood in the doorway. Aerin gestured at the woman to enter and extended a hand to shake.

I’m Captain Denno,” she introduced. It rolled off the tongue better than ‘chairman’ or ‘first administrator,’ the more technical terms for her role in the League. “I’ve heard a lot about you. All good things, I promise. You’ve been a big help to these people. They appreciate you, think of you as one of their own.” Her features softened reassuringly.

She hoped Sona felt accomplished with her efforts, and beyond that, willing to continue working with the LAW. Every pair of hands made a difference, and Aerin was in a position to make it worth the Jedi’s while if she were interested.

As the door opens and the Captain gestured for her, Sona strutted into the room, past timeless ornaments that contrast her chromes and cybernetics, right to face the woman that runs the place.

She met the captain’s extended arm with the hard, cold metal that has long replaced her organic fingers and palm. Her eyes studied Captain Denno for a second; the woman standing a couple of inches shorter than her, perhaps only a few years older as well, yet she carries gravitas only a few does.

I’ve heard a lot about you. All good things, I promise. You’ve been a big help to these people. They appreciate you, think of you as one of their own.” Her features softened reassuringly.

I’m just glad I can help,” the Tech-bird answered politely as she met the captain’s eyes and soft features. “That’s the least I can do, y’know. They give me food, shelter, protection, that’s hard to find nowadays,

Her eyes wander across the room as she recalls the journey she’s had, from Coruscant to here. It wasn’t easy, moving between camps and outposts, learning to tolerate new people and trust them enough to eat and sleep around them. So of course she’s also going to try her best to make it easier for her hosts to feel the same security and trust.

They probably told you that I’m good with tech and that kind of stuffs, not so much on the more physical helps…” she chuckled, extending her host a warm smile.
