Private If The World Was Ending

She prepared for an argument as he brought up contradiction. Which, she wasn't. Things were going to be difficult. The way they related to things was a problem. Whether he was deliberately misunderstanding, or his mind just worked that differently... And then she saw and felt the wry smile spread across his face and his sense.

Son of a queen was messing with her! She fought the urge to scowl, but in spite of herself she found herself smiling back, just a little.

Des found herself craning her neck back to look up at him as he closed in. His forehead rested against hers, and she slipped one cool hand up to rest against his cheek. The other slipped into his blonde mane loosely. "I do trust you," she said quietly. "I've already put my life in your hands. And if I really felt I needed something like what you're talking about... you forget, I can make 'em too." She patted his cheek lightly, breaking into a small smile.

A moment later she scooted forward, tilting her head to the side just a little to place a warm, soft as snow kiss on his lips. The idea of doing it made her heart hammer just a little. She'd wanted to try that for a long time. She was pretty sure he had too, and... after it all, it seemed the most natural thing to do. Pulling back just a little, she studied his face, his eyes, as much as she did through the Force, how he felt about it.

The feather brush of a kiss took whatever he was gunna say straight out of his head and when she pulled away, she would see his eyes were tinted with gold again. However the emotions pounding in his chest certainly were loads more positive. He cleared his throat and stood to his full height. “I better make you some food, because next you’ll be trying to have me for a meal.”

Of course he probably wouldn’t mind that, but just because she kissed him didn’t mean he needed to get all hot and bothered. He dug around in the cooler and pulled out some thinly sliced beef, along with something like lettuce and a green fruit, a harder red vegetable and then a jar of some kind of sauce. Before she knew it, a sandwich was made and set before her. He quickly made one that was double the size of hers and sprawled into his chair digging in.

The flare of desire that rolled off of him warmed her skin. A little stab of disappointment ran through her when he didn't kiss her back. Or at least move to kiss her in return. But at the same time she felt his struggle for control, looking to distract himself. A smile blossomed across her face, a mixture of pleased, and just... happy. It wasn't exactly what she'd expected or wanted, but in other ways it was better.

As he turned away to begin gathering up supplies, she tilted her head. "Would it be so bad if I did make a meal out of you," she said playfully. At the same time she sent an accompanying image his direction through the Force. The plate in Anse's grip popped, breaking in two neat halves, drawing out a grin.

As he sat down the food with fresh late she crossed one leg over the other, bouncing her foot lightly. She took a quick bite and froze, save for chewing, and giving a nod of approval and a thumbs up. "Oh, that's really good actually," she added when she could speak again. Shifting to her feet, she stood, grabbed a glass of water and sat again, then dug in. "I see you got more of the renovations done. Kitchen's finally all done," she said glancing around.

When she mentioned making him a meal, he choked, because what played in his head caught him off guard. He knew she was a telepath, there had been a few times that she had spoken to him, but this? This was certainly more playful and unexpected. He coughed, getting up and getting some water himself, then eyed her trying not to break the glass in his hand like the earlier plate. She mentioned the kitchen and he stood a little straighter unconsciously, he was more than a bit proud of how things were going. “Aye, I be almost done with a lot of th’ core things I had on th’ list. Most of what I be doing while zipping around was collecting parts and taking jobs to pay for parts. Didn’t really have th’ heart to return to th’ old ways I did things, so year goes by and, well, this be th’ result.”

He looked down at his feet, a bit of a stab of sadness as well. “I be sorry tha’ I did so much, ye didn’t have a chance to really get attached. Just kept thinin’ ye ought to come home to something more finished, but… I be sure there’ll be other things, should ye wish.”

She didn’t think of the place as a home. That was the main thing that had put his heart to a bit of gloom, but he brushed it away. He brightened up again because she had liked the food. “Ye like th’ meat, aye? Been experimenting with making different meats, sausages and smoked things. Been making use of th’ garden space too, mostly native stuff because why bring it from outside when th’ land probably has something like. Oh, should probably open one of th’ drinks, water isn’t all we be having.”

He opened a smaller cooler and brought out a big bottle of something pale gold, along with two more glasses. He poured her a little and the rich smell of honey filled the room, along with something that warmed the nose. “Be a thing my father used to make, careful with it, it go down smooth as silk and tackle you hard very fast if ye be new to it.”

There was no burn, except for that heady warm spice. The sweet pairing well with the sandwich.
