So this is gonna be a multi episodic thread based off The Thing, I have a few people already interested in doing it with me, but I figured for Halloween this would be a great thread to do to. Now if you don't know what The Thing is, for you young folks, it was a movie made in 1982 by John Carpenter, arguably one of the best sci-fi horror directors. It stared yours truly, Kurt Russel, along with a few other awesome actors. Anyways the point of this is for it to be a scary thread, something that will truly make you not want to reply back to it, but you cant help but wonder what happens next.
I have a few rules I wanna make clear, if you dont find them to your liking we'll work it out somehow, but there's one rule that sticks. NO FORCE USERS! Mainly because they would easily make the thread not so scary with being able to tell who is who. I've got nothing against them. Now..for rules...that can be changed.
PLEASE READ THESE CAREFULLY BEFORE DEBATING WHAT COULD BE CHANGED. THANK YOU!
1. No One Dies...maybe...If you want your character to go out with a strange death, then come to me, we'll talk about it...actually no we wont. The whole point is that we dont know who is The Thing, or how many are The Thing. Apart from this though, there's a few things you need to know, if you're gonna choose to be a Thing, then you need to know, if you get figured out..that's it..we know you're The Thing, and your body will explode into a grotesque monster. (Like I said, strange death)
2. We are in very cold weather, armor that can withstand it will be aloud, but going out in a jacket will kill you (Not instantly). Some kind of environment suits will be able to be obtained. We will be in a large building with multiple areas, all of it being long abandoned. The planet is a unknown discovered planet that will only be used for this story. (If I need to make a entry for said planet RPJs let me know through PM please cause theres nothing special about this planet, so I dont know how ya'll would feel about this. We Can Make This A Dev Thread For Future Horror Threads)
3. No one can ask who is The Thing in OOC. You can trick someone IC, and do something crazy, but you CAN NOT ask who it is, or TELL WHO it is if you find out OOC, IC everything goes, but please try to make it believable. Im not trying to tell you how to play you characters, but you cant just suddenly be The Thing in true form as soon as we start lol, give us a chance to make the story play out, and get suspenseful.
4. There will be a Thing at the very beginning that we will...Ya'll will not know. It will be NPC aomg NPCs. You Can Come Into Contact With It. If you do, hints will be given that you have, or you will find out later on bluntly. Its up to you to decide whether you've been infected. Yes Just Being Near It Can Make You Infected. There is a blood test we'll will end up doing, how this will work is still in debate with myself, but I do have a idea.
5. Have fun guys. This is for a big horror theme I wanna start doing. I feel I can host horror threads well, and have many ideas for them. Take your time with it, and have fun writing this story with me.
Now some may say that rules kill the story, and pretty much control where the story is going. That's not the case here. There here to only make this as suspenseful as fuck. I want this to be one you come to, thinking "Oh shit...what happen while I was responded to some other post...fuck who's The Thing.....damn it am I The Thing?". What happens in this story is up to you. Where this story goes is up to you. These rules dont stop you from doing something crazy that could get you killed. And like I said. If you wanna kill a character off...and you dont know how to, or you've been waiting for something special to appear..this is the place. If you're down for some suspense, and horror this is the place. So come one, come all.
