SPECIAL FEATURES
- Electrical Discharge Capability
- EVA Capability
- Shielding Capability
- Vision Switch Capability
- *Capable of shrugging off most infantry (blaster, rifle) based weaponry while shield is engaged.
- Capable of unleashing a radial electrical attack in close proximity.
- Protects the wearer from environmental hazards (ie: fire, toxic vapors, space vacuum, lightning strikes)
- Vision modes allow wearer to see through thick haze or darkness
- *Decidedly less capable of shrugging off any infantry based weaponry while shield is either off/overloaded.
- Does little to fend off most melee assaults of the (glowly) stabby or smashy variety.
- Not practical for mass production (generally needs to be hand crafted)
- Time consuming to repair
Custom made armour designed by the aspiring savant, Sakoda Dathu. Interlaced with durable materials that make it comfortable rather than stifling to wear from the inside while the exterior remains flexible and wards the wearer from a number of environment hazards frequently encountered on the planet Eres III (namely lightning strikes and toxic winds, thanks namely to the synthmesh), the wearer is also suitably protected against the vacuum of space making it EVA capable. Similarly, the lens of the helmets allow the wearer to switch vision modes with a haptic overlay that permits them to see in infrared, ultraviolet spectrum as well as that of night vision (the reason being so that wayward Dathu clan members could better find each other if they become separated while caught outdoors either in a nasty storm, nightfall or both).
Despite being a light armour it comes with a sophisticated personal shield which unlike other conventional armours (such as mandalorian vambraces that include buckler-like wrist mounted shields) encompasses the whole user rather than an isolated, forward facing shield. This is achieved largely by forgoing additional carbide material and composite plating to make space for the electronic components between the inner and outer layers. The manner in which the armour derives this is, in part, solar-powered by numerous modules lining the grooves of the armour, making it possible to glean power even from (significantly large) amounts of artificial light (if sunlight isn't present) given the amount of modules present. For the rest, power capacitors residing underneath the plating of the armour retains charges derived from the suits power source along with the modules, this in effect means that rather than maintain an "over-shield" at all times the system simply cycles through charges whenever shield integrity begins to fail, giving the "illusion" of an unflinching kinetic barrier.
While this shield is active, kinetic projectiles and plasma bolts will be warded off thus allowing the wearer time enough to seek cover behind something more defensible. While the shield is inactive however then things become a different story entirely, what was once an attack that could be shrugged off is much more likely to impact with full force as the armour itself is tailored more towards surviving environmental hazards rather than enemy fire, an electrical bolt would be absorbed but a plasma or blaster would more likely tend to leave a glaring scorch mark and possibly even penetrate through to the wearer (though still partially empowering the modules to a small extent).
Melee weaponry is a mixed bag, a stab (depending on the angle) may find its mark with enough forceful effort (or technological backing) but slashing is decidedly less effective due to the exterior materials across the armour as well as the tri-weave mesh underneath. Of course none of these protections would do much of anything against the likes of a lightsaber unfortunately.
The trademark feature of the suit is demonstrated when the shield capacitors are optimally charged (or overcharged rather). Initial concept and theorizing appeared promising on the drawing board, however, prototype field testing proved... disastrous, and the level of electricity delivered into the Mk I armour proved to be too much to retain and would only succeed in disintegrating the wearer in the attempt, leaving only the charred fragments of the exterior plating.
Consequently, pursuits to make the armour capable of projecting any form of electrical arc were scaled back significantly, instead the designer, Sakoda Dathu, studied and tested the limits of the technology used to create the "simply stunning" ability of the electrostaff. Once achieved, the option then becomes available for the wearer to activate an electrical discharge within a 7 meter radius, electrifying everything within that radius (minus the wearer, obviously). While the impact wasn't instantly lethal and instead acted more as a subduing/non-lethal measure, the immediate area also played a role in the effectiveness of this ability (ie: the plains of Tatooine would do little to compound its impact whereas the interior of a ship or space station would amplify it due to the conductivity present).
It should be noted that when such electrifying displays are unleashed that the arcing bolts of electricity do not discriminate between friend or foe, shocking both in equal measure if they're within the radius and not suitably protected. While in the field where sunlight is sparse (or non existent) achieving the levels of power required to unleash such displays can often be achieved through absorption of electrical currents (often exhibited by gratuitous jabs from either a stun gun, droid van de graffe attachment or, with extreme caution or desperation, a live wire) which the wearer is insulated from. Naturally, usage of this ability severely depletes the suits shield capabilities and time must be spent with the shield inactive in order to use this attack again let alone the shields.
Lastly, in the palms of the suit reside shock grips which are functionally similar to that of a stun gun, making for an electrifying (but non-lethal) handshake when such feature is primed with a button located on the underside of the forearm close to the wrist, with adjustments located next to the activation button this feature can also be amplified to exact a much more impactful shock by diverting the power that would be used for the radial ability into the palms instead.
